The Toyota GR Yaris is a car that has generated a lot of hype. In this video i get a GR Yaris owner to reveal if 6 months on if the GR Yaris still lives up to its strong reputation as a brilliant car. The Toyota GR Yaris is a rally inspired 4wd super hatch. It has 257bhp, delivers 0-62mph in 5.5 seconds and has 3 driving modes that send the power to the front and rear wheels giving you a number of different styles of driving. The GR Yaris is a brilliant car.

@@stickyicky2858 I had a wide body hellcat challenger for a year and a half. 6speed. It was a lot of fun but could not put the power down until you were well above interstate speeds or a gear or two too high. Small awd cars like the yaris GR would be a blast. And usable!

Toyota US will do a GR Corolla soon as the GR Yaris was primarily built for European and Asian markets.
@@micksc1 Mexican market cars aren't eligible to be imported into the US until they qualify for the 25 year exemption. You can only import/export newer cars between Canada and US, as they share almost identical safety regulations. Makes sense too. Mexico allows cars to be sold new that haven't met safety regulations in decades (the old air cooled Beetle was sold until 2004, and the B13 Tsuru/Sentra was sold until 2017).

@@funtimestuff Reason is because Toyota hasn’t had the car approved by American regulators (the IHTSA and the EPA). For that you need to shift through thousands of legal and regulatory documents, submit two cars for destructive crash testing and one for emissions testing, then you will be given a list of things to fix (that may or may not be feasible to implement) before it can be made legal for import. And if any part of this gets fucked up, it could mean the car will NEVER be approved for import. Not to mention that it’s their sole discretion to even consider a car for import. And if your caught driving a car that hasn’t been approved for import on public roads, they’ll take it and crush it like a $300 90s Corolla. You can register a GR Yaris for show and display though. And if the car is being driven in America for less than a year by someone who has it registered in Mexico, then the police won’t throw a fit if your caught in it.

As for the Yaris, it’s probably a brilliant car to hoot around but personally I can’t get over the interior design and the materials used by Toyota.

Agree on suspension oem settings - GR team nailed it 100%. I would not fiddle with settings on mine.
100% recommend a fast road geo set up, makes it even better and makes sure its set up correctly. My 'toe' was out

I didn’t know you could disengage the fake engine sounds from the stereo speakers. Awesome! Also, did you lower the risers on the seat rails? The seats sit impossibly high for no apparent reason.
Had mine now for 10 month (12.500 miles) and i´m still happy with that "little bastard" ... it will have his 2. inspection 2morrow. before that i had 2 cars (997 C S Mk.1 for fun and Polo V Gti as daily driver) - i do not regret to have sold both to get the gr yaris - it´s the perfect daily fun car.

A 911 does what it is supposed to do - a GR Yaris does things that a Yaris is not supposed to do ^^ ... and the 997 came into ages - the danger of big repairs came closer - so i sold it and got the money for a brand new GR Yaris - for me a "win-win-situation"

rwd cars that sit on the ground just aren't good year-round cars. i would daily the shit out of the gr yaris in the north-east if it was sold here. then again, dealers would be selling them for 50k+ today if we had them..

Honestly, this is sort of why I like motorcycles more than cars now bc they’re really more for the everyday enthusiast. Dealers don’t mess with pricing and the manufacturers really just make what people want where they want it.

Agreed - light blue is such an odd choice - just makes it look cheap and plastic. Would have been better having it sprayed metallic or at least gone for a dark grey or maroon colour with gold wheels.

Reminds me a bit of a Clio V6, except the Yaris gives off more shopping car vibes. 257bhp from a 1.6, that must be running a very big turbo.
It is not a big turbo...
It’s actually not that big. When they actually put a big turbo in it it makes about 500hp

I have issues with modern cars that they have poor rearview visibility. Good drivers needs to keep an eye on what others doing in traffic.

Nice we car iv a type r civic and a one of the last e92 m3 ever made, love both of them and really appreciate a car like this, grew up with rallying my dad and his mates where involved with it, the last few years they rebuild a mrk1 escort form scratch just a shell, full bda engine and all set up that goes with it, she’s a serious car. You might have missed the boat on a new one, mine is due next June, my dealer (john Roe Hull) is not taking orders currently and told me today they feel that when they do start taking orders again delivery will be well into 2023.
Some delivery times are already 2023 - I dont think any new orders will be taken

The only thing I strongly dislike is the control unit sticking out too high like its covering the whole visibility of the windscreen when its close to the middle mirror
It's not a problem with the standard, high seating position, I can see the bottom edge of the windscreen in mine. The rear view mirror is down in the way though, but there are easy and cheap mods to raise it somewhat.

There are folks on forums since the release of YarisGR, someone has done it via rail switch, only thing is... they couldnt keep the original seats lol

Going to have to disagree with the miltek sound. Wet fart is what I get from that sound. Could be the mic though. Sounds better inside the cabin though. I mean it is a 1.6L 3 cylinder, so not sure what you can do with that. Love the complaints list. I keep saying to the screen, "you are driving a yaris, what did you expect?"
