Which Had the Superior Military: First or Second World War Germany?

2017 ж. 17 Қаз.
485 490 Рет қаралды

This is unadorned/unfinished audio of a Dan Carlin discussion about which German military was superior, the First or the Second World War version. Unlike the approach in traditional Hardcore History releases, brevity wins out over depth in this attempt at short-form content from a traditionally long-form creator (note that it is still 50 minutes!)

    • Dan is a modern day story-teller, and I do not mean that in the sense of anything bad or derogatory. When he talks about history his 'format' is one would more expect from someone who was really good at telling stories to a large audience. Imagine if Dan were telling stories around a campfire about Beowulf or Gilgamesh. That's what he does when he talks about history and I love it.

I had Egyptian History course taught by a guy who knew Arabic, Greek, Latin, Hieroglyphs, German and English. And who had personally been to Egypt like 20 times. Dan would certainly have something interesting to say about Egypt in general I am sure. He isn't teaching me better through Audio only what nonsense.

    • The German Imperial army was a more professional organization. The officer corps was largely aristocratic which made the enlisted even more dedicated to follow their officers.

  • Thank you Dan, you are easily one of my top five favorite story tellers, and if the question of whom has the greatest speaking voice comes up Dan Carlin is an answer I would accept. This reminds me of your first episode by the way, Alexander vs Hitler a personal favorite of mine.

  • I liked it. Clearly a raw take/raw audio, but I would not be upset in the slightest to have Dan Carlin's Hardcore History Musings pop up on my feed. Keep them coming!
