Truly a fascinating comeback from behind victory from the Maple Leafs, including 4 brilliant goals within 6 minutes apart in the 2nd to give them the lead going into the 3rd @ home against Edmonton! The total endurance displayed which proved to be the difference!! Your goalie doesn't always have to show his best effort for a victory! Teammates behind him are doing the job necessary! Marner capitalized on the most important plays he needed to make, in order to set his teammates up including Matthew's on that powerplay in the 3rd. Super exciting finish for Leafs fans!

The last time these teams met, the Maple Leafs brought in quite a few players at the deadline and it was a team of strangers for the first game against the Oilers, I think the Maple Leafs finally got it right. Best Canadian team.

Marner gets so much hate for the contract but he has delivered every single season. Quietly headed for another 90 point season. He is the most consistent player on the team by far.
What’s even more impressive is that he’s got more TA than P. Leads the league in TA with 88 while Hagel (2nd on the list) has 73TA.

Nylander goal is a perfect example about what teams have been doing with Matthews this year. Edm D followed Matthews towards the corner instead of staying in the middle, leaving Nylander a clear path to continune his career year. Matthews production is down this year for a reason, but it's not because he's lost any skill
Finally someone making a comment that has actually been watching Matthews play this year. He's not scoring as much but draws so much attention that leaves other players open plus he leads the league in blocked shots by forwards.

Don't get me wrong, the Oilers did not deserve to win this game with all the defensive mistakes they made, but good god! I've never seen so many coincidental minors in my life! The refs absolutely deserve to be out of a job after today. So many missed calls and the worst part about the coincidental minors, is that most of the 1st penalties happened before they raised their hand, so they KNEW that there was a penalty but just chose not to call it until they retaliated back. Absolute terrible reffing for both sides, the NHL should be embarrassed at this stage.
