He saw the business coming when he played, while he’s coaching college, he’s forgotten more football than most will ever know. This is the power that players have ALWAYS had. • Again, it's like the other Jeff said. Deon is one of one just like Michael. Just like Tom. Just like LeBron. There are greats and then there are greats within greats and he's talking from that level. His son and Travis are nowhere near that and have quite frankly not shown the potential to be that. The problem is they're getting older and eventually daddy's going to have to let go and let men be men. All this business talk is fine and good when you're under 18 and to a degree 21. But I promise you if I was a vet and all this noise came in surrounding, I'd make it clear quick, fast. And then I hurry that they got a lot of work to do to earn some respect in this lead and that they need the distance themselves from their father's shadow

  • I don’t blame players for not wanting to go to certain teams but sometimes an organization can change. Say a Joe Burrow said no to Cincinnati and yes to a Jacksonville or a Carolina and then realizes it’s not really the best situation to be in. Then what are you gonna do start demanding trades? Maybe rookie contracts should be shorter and if players want to go elsewhere say after four years they can but they’ll sign for a third less money then they would have staying with the team that drafted them. Something like that but just rejecting teams out of hand to draft you will create a lot of unintended consequences.

They have the tangibles but the team around them doesn't allow them to flourish. Maybe top 10 but definitely not top 4. Next point, NIL has turned NCAA upside down and i love it. Now players have the ability to operate as a business and not just an asset of a business. The leagues have for far too long taken advantage of the assets (players). Now the players can control their narrative by brand building ultimately controlling their future in the league. I love it when the little guy has checkmate

  • For me its a real simple fix. As a owner and organization Inwould not let any player no matter who they are dictate how I run my business. All the top players are not far ahead of the next guy to begin with. Send a message to Harrison and the others by letting them slide to lower draft positions or just flat out not draft them at all. That will take away the leverage tbey that they have, and immediately, other players will fall in line. Owners get together and collude all the time. Imagine if the got together and said, ok, you guys want to play hardball, cool. All 32 of us will pass on your services. That would be the ULTIMATE message and deterrent moving forward.

  • I don't have a strong opinion on this either way, I just think it will be very interesting to watch how this goes. Right now it's those few players that can call their own shots, but over time it would eventually extend to players projected to be in the top three, then top five and then the top ten, probably. How would that affect the league? Those players aren't going to want to play for bad teams, so those bad teams will find it harder to get better in the draft (because the best players can elect not to go there). What if CJ Stroud had refused to go the the Texans. Would they have made the playoffs last year? Probably not. They'd probably still suck. I can imagine a nightmare scenario where this gets so out of hand that the league steps in and says that if they don't want to go to the team that drafts them, fine, they just won't get drafted. They can wait til the next draft year.
