How To FILLET A HALIBUT (Homer, Alaska)

2022 ж. 14 Мау.

Pacific Halibut (Flatfish) were made to filet! And these men have perfected it. The two-hour boat ride back to Homer was well spent cleaning and packing the day's catch. We will be eating good tonight!
Just another wonderful day in Alaska!

  • Oh my I'm jealous! While stationed at Elmendorf AFB twice we went deep-sea fishing too. At 350 ft down with a 16 oz sinker, we hauled up 25-30 lb halibut. Nothing gigantic, but super good eating. The trip was pricey, but the kids remember it still. The good life!

    • This is My Alaska Oh I forgot to mention, the swells were hugely wide, but gentle thankfully. Still had two of the kids "green behind the gills" as it were! Beautiful weather too, smell of the ocean, sounds of the seagulls overhead (as long as we didn't get pooped on) were all part of the memorable experience. Kids are all grown with families of their own, but the memories live on. Mike and I have made the trip back up the Al-Can Highway several times hauling the 5th wheel and all of our fishing gear too. I don't think we'll be heading north too soon with gas prices such as they are, 9 miles to the gallon is just too rich for our blood these days. Hopefully our frequent fly miles will allow a few flights to AK!! We still have three daughters in AK, married, working and raising families too. I dontthink their ever going to leave, they love it. Take care.

  • That was the major thing I wanted to do when I went to Alaska, go Halibut fishing!! Even paid my share for the charter, but the woman that was scheduling all of our adventures decided to cancel it 3 months before we got there and never told me. That was my one and only trip to Alaska that I could ever afford and I didn't get to do two of the main items on my bucket list; go fishing and visit the Heritage Museum. So now I watch youtube videos and watch others enjoying themselves and fulfilling their dreams.
