1 NIGHT Solo BUSHCRAFT Alaska (A Simple Shelter Anyone Can Build)

2022 ж. 16 Мау.
51 058 Рет қаралды

This simple shelter is made with an 8x12 tarp and one spruce pole. I used tie wire for attachment but a small rope or parachute cord will work just as well. I prefer to build this style of shelter facing downhill because it's floor naturally sheds water in that direction.
My meal was seasoned ground beef wrapped in an onion with a side of baked potato. I washed it all down with cowboy coffee. If you're not familiar with cowboy coffee you are missing a treat. The grounds are boiled right in the water for a couple of minutes and then settled to the bottom by adding a shot of cold water (or in this case, a handful of snow). Absolutely wonderful!
The date of this trip was May 26th. The mosquitos are starting to show up, but they are the early ones, big and slow, not the elite fighters are still a few weeks away yet. It was 9 pm when I got out of my truck and 12:30 am when I was eating dinner. Welcome to the land of the midnight sun!
Peace.

  • Good morning Gale, first, let me compliment you on your taste of trucks. I drive a 1989 Ford F150 4x4 Lariat that I bought brand new and it is still running strong. It's nice to see you getting away from the fun work of tearing old bldgs. apart and rebuilding them. A little alone time does a man good especially here in our great state of Alaska. I hope you did a part 2 to this video, would like to see the outcome of dinner and whatever else you did that night. Thanks for sharing.

    • I have a 2003 F-150 that is still going strong. Bought it brand new from Worthington Ford in Anchorage back when I lived up there. Drove the AK highway two and a half times in that truck (once in the middle of January). Cheers.

  • Lovely. The solitude and the sunset. So good for the soul. Trust your potato was not too blackened (the voice of experience) and that the onion and ground beef were still moist and tasty. Trust you also slept well despite the potential of curious bears - that's not a hazard we have in Scotland. SO enjoyed this wee trip away. Blessings.

Watching you being able to camp and enjoy it in those conditions is mind blowing to me. And then there is the igloo building which was fascinating. This one is interesting and informative as usual. I didn’t know porcupines could climb trees but now I do. Thanks for all the effort you put into your videos - I very much appreciate it.

I was surprised that you didn’t pack your espresso maker for coffee rather than cowboy style. Both are a treat and better than the stylized brew that some baristas insist on calling coffee. Good seeing that you are taking time for your self in such beauty and peace. It was 106° here in NE Ohio this week with promise of more in July and August. Enjoy that snow! Wishing you and your family a blessed week, gentle weather and restful evenings. Peace brother
