People are not important, only the ones who make the decisions just like huge corporations. The Alien is the prize and sacrificing a few hundred humans is acceptable. The crew on the Prometheus were all expendable. They wouldn't send the best off to die. If the crew was smart they would have figured out what was going on instead of dying. • And here I thought this movie was supposed to be its own thing, a stand-alone story in the franchise. I honestly don't know how I feel about Romulus being tied-in with the original "ALIEN" (Which feels like an unnecessary connection), and I absolutely despise the idea of there being a tie-in with "Alien Covenant". If there was ever a movie that showed how Ridley Scott's success with "ALIEN" probably came as much if not more from the people he worked with as anything else, "Alien Covenant" would be it. I'd much rather "Alien Romulus" remain its own thing with its own "unique" story (At least as unique as you can get rehashing the same tired tropes over and over...).

    • I'm fine with it being either a sequel to the original Alien, with the Company having found Ripley's xenomorph and used it clone a bunch of aliens or facehuggers (but without the black goo from Prometheus); or a sequel to Covenant set before or after the OG, with the scientists having found and experimented with the black goo. Mixing elements of those two concepts doesn't work for me, though, as it just further complicates the already muddied continuity of the franchise.

  • The morality of resurrecting a deceased actor is highly questionable. A male leading protagonist would be a breath of fresh air and not be unwelcome in the alien franchise considering how absurd some of the female protagonists have been in the sci-horror genre recently.

    @deadlymarsupial1236@deadlymarsupial12362 ай бұрын
    • I find that very disturbing. I have so many questions about it. I mean, did he give his consent for such an idea? If the company had asked him before he died if they could use his face and voice using technology (and paid him a nice chunk of change upfront) then I guess it's "oh well". But if he never signed off on such a thing it seems downright insulting to his honor/memory/legacy/agency, to literally cast him in a movie without his permission, participation, creative influence or anything at all. If we stretched this idea/scenario to it's farthest conclusion (and used our imaginations) we could see a future where, if an actor draws in big money, but doesn't want to do a certain role, a greedy evil studio could put a hit on said actor and then go ahead and just make the movie with them using AI. I know that sounds stupid and far fetched but sometimes when thinking about the ethics/morality of certain things you have to employ situational ethics and imagine scenarios. Let's say they want to make another Iron Man movie but Robert Downey is really tired of making them. The studio knows if it makes an Iron man movie they'll rake in a billion dollars. They could "put a hit" on Robert, "make it look like a terrible accident" or something, and once he's dead they can make the movie using AI (if consent/pay for future projects isn't necessary.) That's messed up! I know that sounds dumb but...

    • I’d be thrilled for a male protagonist finally. Or at least a movie with both. As for the AI thing, I would suspect they would at least ask his family for permission if he didn’t already sign off on it. Otherwise they’d be in some legal hot water potentially I’d figure. It is weird for sure and I find such things as uncanny and grey.

    • Yeah,cause there's never been a male protagonist before? The whole reason female survivors became fashionable to begin with is because they were always male, and also females,being traditionally more unlikely to survive was noval ,if anything may be its just as boring as endless male protagonist,but the idea that were starved for male leads is more critically in fashion, more so than that it's an accurate criticism. It kinda seems like butthurt whining sometimes? Who cares what genitals are involved,if the plot resolution makes sense,and the performances are good? Becoming a stale trope of its own,feeling the need to have more dudes saving the day to make people feel better, these are fantasies, so why would realism,or balance ever have anything to do with it? Do you really care if a man is the second last one standing? What is it ruining for you? How many dudes need to be cast as the answer to all heroic questions \ scenarios to make you feel better?

Some actors might find it great to be able to continue acting and continue getting paid even after death. If they are going to do this, I'd assume the estate has already given the go-ahead. • I just don't understand why they didn't make another entry to wrap up the prequels. They could've easily tied them together. I would've based the whole thing on W-Y finding the Covenant drifting around. It's a trap set up by David as he has impregnated a shit-ton of cryotubed colonists and has continued his experiments for years while drifting around in space. As he's running out of hosts and the Covenant for whatever reason is stuck in space, he reveals his position, but not to the Company at first. Instead he tries to lure in space truckers and smugglers and whatnot. He needs more hosts and spare parts, and he doesn't want the Company, competitors or the USCMC, to be involved...yet. As a plot twist, David has uploaded himself into the Covenant ship as his body was severely messed up after an altercation with one of the xenomorph specimens on board (alluded that it's the xenomorph birthed from Daniels or Tennesse). Needless to say, David is hoping that whomever he lures to the somewhat derelict Covenant, will also bring one or several synths with them for him to use as spare parts. Not only one, but two clueless smuggler/trucker crews/ships come to investigate the Covenant. David fools the first crew to repair his body while pretending that he is the Covenant ship AI; the crew synth is just a simple Working Joe type of synth, and thus he manages to talk the crew into using their Joe's body to repair him. They agree after David covertly releases a few xenomorph specimens loose, then to present himself to the crew as the only one who can save them. David, now with a functioning body to download himself into, releases more xenos, and it doesn't take long before the whole crew is gone. The last survivor of the crew decides to drive and crash their ship into the Covenant rather than trying to escape as he/she realizes that he/she has already been impregnated (David taunts him/her over the com, claiming that he - David - lying that he knows how to extract the embryo inside the surviving crew member through surgery). The Covenant is now severely damaged with thousands of xenos gone (or floating in space). David however is now back inside his body (a creepy mishmash of his former self and Working Joe spare parts). He tries to contact the Company this time, but all means of communications have been destroyed. David is completely cut off. Luckily for him the second lured in crew of smugglers/truckers arrives. These guys however are apparently proffesional criminals and only see David as something they can sell on the black market. They loot Covenant wreckage in an effective and efficient way, which (the Covenant) has suffered from several subsequent explosions, rendering it into a floating heap of debris. Several of the looters are killed by drifting xenos as they get greedy and overstaying their "welcome" after they find vats with facehuggers. Two of the xenos make it on board the looters' ship. David is indirectly freed by the two xenos, and with his help the surviving members of the looter crew is killed, while one of the xenos is jettisonned into space with together with two of the looters. David programs the looters' spaceship destinations for where the Romulus is located. Together with the xeno, plus a bunch of vats with facehuggers inside, David sets off. Triumphant, David thinks that he's safe from the surviving xenomorph on board, despite what happened to him on the Covenant several years ago. He names the xeno Walter, talking to it through the video feed. He decides to study its intelligence instead of trying to kill it, or trying freeze it and harness it for later studies. David notices that the creature is becoming more and more aware that it is being studied and that the machinery in its environment is a part of that. David is intrigued by Walter the Xeno and decides that he wants to "teach it tricks". Maybe Walter the Xeno will be easier to control and groom than Walter the Robot? Walter the Xeno is indeed a quick and fast learner, and exceeds all of David's expectations, and it isn't until it's too late that David realizes that Walter the Xeno has outsmarted him. Walter traps David and kills him - not just killing him, but completely tearing him to pieces. Walter the Xeno enters hibernation while drifting onboard the looters' ship into W-Y territory. The Romulus station is in for a treat... Instead of the unrealistic prospect of W-Y finding Big Chap drifting around in space, they could've just had an "updated" xenomorph version from David's xeno strain be the progenitor of the xenomorphs onboard the Romulus. I also LOVE the idea of David studying xeno intelligence just to be outsmarted by it, just like he outsmarted the humans and the Engineers. It would've also been a nice touch if David started to realize that it WASN'T his (David's) fiddling and experimenting with the black goo that created the Xenomorph - it was the Black Goo's inate formula and nature that lead to the "end product", which is the Xenomorph we all know...

  • I love the alien franchise like I really love it. However they need to really change up the equation. Like female protag, ambiguous android (may or not be bad, normally bad), trying to connect to previous installments. They should take some inspiration from the books. It’s a big galaxy, pick some place unconnected. The xeno origins were always indistinct and mysterious. Make the protag male or make em an android. Just do something, take a risk stop trying to use the same equation. Alien 3 is probably when that equation expired. Change it up and make a new story. If the engineer’s iconography any clue, the xeno been around for a long time in one form or another. That means it doesn’t need to connect to lv-426 or Prometheus/covenant.

  • How did they find the big chap when they didnt know where the Nostromo was detonated and if they did space is big how did they find the bug in that massive vacuum of space... also according to the book based on the screen play the big chap exploded from the rigors of the vacuum of space. How did they know the ship blew up when this takes place after Alien but Before Aliens? Why would WY have xenos and then be so obsessed with getting them during the events of Aliens and Alien Resurrection where they cloned them from the residue of Ripley's bio scan and tests... where she some how had the complete dna of the queen alien too... but its all mixed up (one the convoluted reasons I didnt like Alien Regurgitation... I mean resurrection.) They will have to do some serious story telling gymnastics to explain their ability to locate basically a man sized creature that they didnt even actually know was aboard that was floating across light years of space... (or perhaps somehow they did know the xeno was aboard...) The Nostromo had entered FTL when the crew had to deal with The Big Chap... so I supposed they could try to trace the lines from LV426 or if they had transmission of the Nostromos flight path they could draw a line and look along that line but its still light years, and the ship exploded pushing things around in the local space...it is still a needle in the haystack search. I certainly hope the heroine in this movie is not a mary sue... like Rey... and many other woke cinematic disasters and assaults on genre established IP. I have no problem with strong female characters as long as they too have endured the heroes journey... Ripley, Princess Leia, Sarah Connor, and more recently Black Widow who has a detailed backstory... She has to have a background and not one laden with plot armor contrivances... FOX should scrap alien 3 and 4 and dismiss the abysmal prequels that destroy the mythos of the creature much like the Midichlorians did for the Force.... Give us a solid sequel to Alien and Aliens which would literally make this the 3 actual installment. That however would have required the presence of Sigourney Weaver and Michael Biehn.... Wait they have them lined up years ago and the preproduciton was under way for an alien movie with them years after Aliens... and it would have passed the torch off to an Adult Newt (rumors abound who was going to play her...) So many really well thought out books/novels and they writing teams and director just chuck the baby out with the bathwater... We will see if Alien: Romulus is decent... perhaps it fell thru the cracks like Predator: Prey did... and we get a very entertaining story that does not further ruin the cannon.

IMM, the hologram displaying the event/cataclysm on LV-223 (in Prometheus) is the same event which forced the derelict ship to crash on LV-426. So the Engineers created the Xenomorphs which appeared in Alien and Aliens, and the derelict ship crashed a thousand years before the Nostramo crew found it. In Alien: Covenant, David created his own variant and is still tweaking it to make his own Xenomorphs. To that end the human colony on Oregai 6 is going to be David's Xenomorph hive instead.

But, if there are multiple androids who look exactly like Ash running around, why WOULDN'T they know? If the Ash Model is common, it increases the odds that they would be familiar with him and KNOW he was an android immediately. Plus, in Alien, Bishop comments on how terrible Ash's model was. "The A2s always were a bit twitchy. That could never happen now with our behavioral inhibitors..." Why would they continue to use that model? Is Alien Romulus a prequel? Did it take place BETWEEN Alien and Aliens? It has to have happened AFTER Alien, if they caught the alien floating in space... What's the deal?

  • My personal movie canon for Alien is: Alien, Aliens, Prometheus, and Alien: Covenant. All of the other movies including the Predator crossovers I consider little side hustles pieces of entertainment that I thought were OK and usually enjoyed but NOT canon to the overall story. I have never read any of the books or comics so those don't factor into my personal view of the Alien world. I do see how other completely unrelated stories like Blade Runner or Outland (1981 Sean Connery, great movie) could be a part of the Alien world. Blade Runner shows what earth probably looked like around the time of Alien and explores synthetics in human society. Outland is explores the gritty world of heavy industry and mining in space in the future. The Nostromo could have been coming from a mining facility like the one depicted in Outland. Outland in particular has a very strong Alien vibe even though there are no aliens of any type in the plot. I think some of the vibe connecting Alien and Outland is due to the fact that Jerry Goldsmith composed and produced BOTH movie soundtracks! Set design and lighting is also very familiar when comparing the two films. Anyway, I just think those are potentially interesting connections or visions of an expanded Alien canon.

If WeyYu existed in Blade Runner you would expect their close involvement in the construction of replicants yet we never hear or see anything which suggests they do so i wouldn't count on Blade Runner been part of the same universe.

There they find Weyland inside the crashed spaceship. They have a blue elixir which they empty all over him and bring him to life. But while doing this the Deacon from the Prometheus movie sneaks into their spaceship and hide it self in one of the ventilation chambers. In the next part they arrive at the planet from alien covenant and find the other robot(Walter) who is david's twin.The engineers use the blue elixir and repairs him. Once awaken the engineers and Weyland get to know all the horrible things that David has done, and weyland says "we have to stop David" . They set course for origae. When they arrive,they scans all the planet,and finds the planet is full of hostile organisms except on a high mountain where they discover that there are humans inside a cave. Inside the cave they meet a herd of children, who tell that when they had lived on the planet for over ten years, they began to be attacked by Xenomorphs and all the adults died or were turned into these creatures. There were also great giants developed by someone the children calls David. The engineers get ready to wipe out all the Xenomorphs that David has created, but the great giants manage to escape with one of the engineers' spaceships. The engineers and Weyland hunts the spaceship and manage to force the spaceship down on the planet lv426.Where it start sending a distress signal. The engineers return to Origae to find David, but discover that he has escaped. In the last part we see David arriving and meeting an unknown alien species on a tropical like planet. At the same time Nostromo leaves a nearby planet with the cargo of ore. But when he and the unknown aliens have left the spaceship,the deacon slips out of the ship and is seen running toward the nearest settlement. And that makes the cliffhanger that ends the third movie. The ending movie could have a duration about five hours ?

Some interesting ideas . I just hope it doesn’t turn out incoherent, and a fan service mish mash of different fragments from each previous film. Disney have some form doing that sort of thing. Someone also raised a question about the age of the cast - just how much depth will the characters have, all being so young? It’s a pretty common trope in trashy horror to use young characters as canon fodder, and one of the things that made Alien so powerful was the way the characters reacted to the unfolding crisis they found themselves in. I’m not sure a young cast could pull off something similar.
