    • Technically speaking, if it's a Tom Cruise movie, you're usually not disappointed. There's a few movies I would've skipped out on if another actor played. Except A Few Good Men. Do have a soft spot for Nicholson. Even though it was a soft role with 10 days of shooting.

  • THE BEST MISSION EVER. John Woo's original cut was three-and-a-half hours long, and rated R. Paramount balked at the length, and told him the final cut could not exceed two hours. That accounts for the numerous plot holes and missing lines and scenes from at least one of the theatrical trailers in the released version. I hope the original cut still exists. All of that said, Mission: Impossible II is a fantastic action thriller from the director of Hard Target, and Broken Arrow, and Face/Off, with a strong script written by Academy Award winner Robert Towne, and a frenetic score written by Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer.

    • It's probably because this style of film-making was, at the time, a bit grandiose and self-indulgent. But audiences didn't know then that they were looking at the last of a dying breed. After this it would all be greenscreens and CGI. Actors faces deepfaked onto stuntmen. Nowadays seeing a special effect with real mass and kinetic energy is rare. I guess it's a better film now than it was then.

Still at the end of the day, it feels so overwhelming seeing how the franchise evolved with time, from being a espionage world with simple stuffs to talking a high-tech approach. Like a trilogy started at late 90s, more than a decade passed, & it feel great how it held the notion of time & still holding our hype with keeping our taste & what the evolving generation wants in mind. • This movie gets better as time goes by. The action scenes are so fun despite how insanely dramatic they arel LOL. Unfairly panned by mindless critics who expected great acting and non-stop action in every single frame. Forget substance, this movie is all about style, and John Woo delivers. Also, expecting plausibility from a Mission Impossible movie is like expecting Fast and Furious to be scientifically sound. Just relax and enjoy the ride.

    • I don't think that's the reason people didn't like it. I think it's more the fact that all the other films in the franchise have a lot more depth and better storytelling in general. The 2nd film just lacked a lot of development and is really just an anomaly in the franchise.

    • @@rohithrajesh595 well, none of the movies in the franchise has any depth and the storytellings are all pretty much the same except for number 2 which may be why it threw people off - it doesn't follow the MI formula. I'm not saying number 2 is a great movie by any means, but for what it is, it doesn't disappoint. My guess is that people are not interested in the weird love triangle so they see that as an annoying distraction and I get that, but I have no problem with it.
