Leather jacket, dark shades, a lot of shooting and bike chases. What an introduction to the 2000s
Technically speaking, if it's a Tom Cruise movie, you're usually not disappointed. There's a few movies I would've skipped out on if another actor played. Except A Few Good Men. Do have a soft spot for Nicholson. Even though it was a soft role with 10 days of shooting.

the edge, so cool...
Tom Cruise's Shaggy hair too
A lot of people talk shit about MI2 and they all owe John Woo an apology because this movie still holds after two decades
You can't be serious
Not really. It looks ridiculous. Tom Cruise looks good tho.
This movie perfectly showcases What made the action movies from the late 70s to the early 00s so great. They were as ridiculous as they were thrilling to watch.
And neither can you. The film was amazing. @@massivetism
@@MKillBill nah, it wasnt. I promise you, whatever you define as "amazing" I can garuntee this film fumbles.
THE BEST MISSION EVER. John Woo's original cut was three-and-a-half hours long, and rated R. Paramount balked at the length, and told him the final cut could not exceed two hours. That accounts for the numerous plot holes and missing lines and scenes from at least one of the theatrical trailers in the released version. I hope the original cut still exists. All of that said, Mission: Impossible II is a fantastic action thriller from the director of Hard Target, and Broken Arrow, and Face/Off, with a strong script written by Academy Award winner Robert Towne, and a frenetic score written by Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer.
Do you know where we can find the 3 and a half hour movie version of the same ?
@@yorer247 it is probably lost.
@@IsraelNowIsraelForeverIt doesn’t exist in bluray package ?
No.
man i wish someone had the balls to release those 3h cut, but the only one who have the balls and power is Tom cruise him self 😂

The best Mask scene of ever...
Mission Impossible
The early 2000s was so sick 👍
No matter what over the top stunts Tom Cruise does in the next installment, this is the best MI movie
I hear no lies here
I agree
It's the coolest. Not the best. They're are all trash. Not real M:I material like the TV series.
100% truth!
Thank you!
Mission Impossible. What a fun, thrilling, guilt free franchise. Another Tom Cruise classic.
Cc
its crazy rewatching this in hindsight when u realize how iconic it was at the time and how it actually affected culture a lot and has been emulated to death
I always cringe at it... it does not fit the MI style and was just an emulation of the popularity of the Matrix action style.
9fw2r
@@1601tgc You are aware, that the "Matrix Style" is literally a lame rip-off of the Hong Kong action movie style, that John Woo and other directors created, right?!
@@doublep1980You’re absolutely right, but I do agree that this style is completely wrong for the MI films. Fortunately, they’ve more than made up for this since.
I really think this was John Woo style, with the high speed action, acrobatic fighting technique and gun play skills. The Killer and Hard Boiled are just two of many of his stylish films, that look a bit like this. It’s great to see actual vehicles, and helicopters in action rather than everything being cgi.
Stunts, he did 95% of them and loves all the things he loves.
I don’t care what anyone says. These are awesome stunts.
Tom Cruise showing how to sell Sun Glasses, Guns and Motorcycles at the same time, I love it
jacket too😂
I can never understand the intense hatred for this movie. 😂 I love it as a fan of action movies.
Who hates this movie? This is one of the best MI movies.
@@starwing0 Look on IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes. And Schmoes Know and Chris Stuckmann and Jeremy Jahns.
@@twmax6525 you know what, bunch of kids grow up watching avengers CGI and never learned to appreciate real stunts
@@starwing0 the knife almost in his eye is pretty badass. People also don’t like the plot
It's probably because this style of film-making was, at the time, a bit grandiose and self-indulgent. But audiences didn't know then that they were looking at the last of a dying breed. After this it would all be greenscreens and CGI. Actors faces deepfaked onto stuntmen. Nowadays seeing a special effect with real mass and kinetic energy is rare. I guess it's a better film now than it was then.
This scene and my dad are the reason I ride sport bikes today
What you ride ?
John Woo really did a great job in styling the action scenes. It's visual poetry from the master. It's in your face, but there's a depth to it that allows you to soak it in.
'Luther clear the bridge 🌉 for me.!' 3 seconds later.. 🚁 💥 🚗 Luther - 'OH I AM MAD NOW!!' 5 seconds later.. 🚁 💥 🚗 'You ok Luther?' Luther - 'Punk put a bullet in my VESACE!!!??' 😆😎
One thing you can’t argue with is that John Woo knows action. He invented the slide and shoot. And the dive and shoot.
Sure that and a great sense of natural action humor I'd say. 'Luther clear the bridge 🌉 for me!' 3 seconds later.. 🚁 💥 🚗 Luther - 'OH I AM MAD NOW!!' 5 seconds later.. 🚁 💥 🚗 'You ok Luther?' Luther - 'Punk put a bullet in my VESACE!!!??' 😆😎

MI2 was possibly the best raw action movie.. all scenes especially the rock climbing scene was mind blowin
The last of the great pre-Matrix action movies.
Action movies nowadays are only marvel
@@anharali1247 u haven't checked out the new MI installments ?. Cruise has been pushing the boundaries with every single one of them.
Even though it came out after The Matrix?
@@superdrinkingpepsi Well, they were filmed around the same time. I only meant that it was one of the last great action movies to not take cues from The Matrix before it changed the genre. Similar to how Die Hard and Dirty Harry set the standard for action movies in their respective decades.
@@suraj250684 He absolutely has. The guy may be short and crazy but dammit, he's a fantastic producer. Because he knows what audiences want better than audiences know what they want.

That's actually a 92 Brigadier, it's got a heavier slide than a 92FS or a M9.
Again, why is this movie so cheesy to people when Ethan is actually seen changing clips?
MASK SCENE IS INCREDIBLE AND AWESOME.❤❤❤❤❤
I love the basic plot of Chimera virus getting in wrong hands and Agent ethan hunt saving the world. This was one of the pioneer movies to set that kind of plot into action. One of the greatest movies of Tom cruise. Negative critics can straight away fu¢k off.

I think this is my favourite MI.
This is the only pannable film in the whole series only coz of it's plot development & busy screenplay, yet maybe the only maturely made film in the whole series coz of the same reasons, it feels more like a psychologically & emotionally engaging action thriller, more than a entertaining & enjoyable spy film. Still at the end of the day, it feels so overwhelming seeing how the franchise evolved with time, from being a espionage world with simple stuffs to talking a high-tech approach. Like a trilogy started at late 90s, more than a decade passed, & it feel great how it held the notion of time & still holding our hype with keeping our taste & what the evolving generation wants in mind. Egerly waiting for Dead Reckoning 1 & 2...
Well said. Much like The Fast and the Furious, it started grounded in reality and became... less so ;)
Tom is a freaking genius.
Mr. Cruise got the most beautiful hair

Would of been more dramatic if Sean, yelled “HUNNNNNNTTT!!!” when finding out he killed Hue by accident and being outmaneuvered again by, Ethan.
I think he actually did. It's hard to tell though.
young tom cruise is the best to watch
I gotta say Luther has mad skills he's the only reason I love this movie!!

The best MI movie in the series and I think that Hans Zimmer's soundtrack had a lot to do with it. This chase, the building shoot out. The theft scene with the flamenco, so goooood
This whole movie is like Ethan Hunt had a dream of doing whatever he feels like in his missions but can't because physics exist.
Allow me to amend that:. It's a dream/fantasy of everyone of us. 😎✌🏼🤟🏼😅
Um, everything Ethan does in this movie is physically possible. If it wasnt Tom doing them, all of these stunts were done by professionals

A+ John Woo action
6:24 hahaha sure, a 4x4 rear ending a sports bike at full throttle, yeah 😂
That's a pretty solid wooden bridge!
The music will sound different if its not Tom Cruise on the scene
This movie gets better as time goes by. The action scenes are so fun despite how insanely dramatic they arel LOL. Unfairly panned by mindless critics who expected great acting and non-stop action in every single frame. Forget substance, this movie is all about style, and John Woo delivers. Also, expecting plausibility from a Mission Impossible movie is like expecting Fast and Furious to be scientifically sound. Just relax and enjoy the ride.
I don't think that's the reason people didn't like it. I think it's more the fact that all the other films in the franchise have a lot more depth and better storytelling in general. The 2nd film just lacked a lot of development and is really just an anomaly in the franchise.
@@rohithrajesh595 well, none of the movies in the franchise has any depth and the storytellings are all pretty much the same except for number 2 which may be why it threw people off - it doesn't follow the MI formula. I'm not saying number 2 is a great movie by any means, but for what it is, it doesn't disappoint. My guess is that people are not interested in the weird love triangle so they see that as an annoying distraction and I get that, but I have no problem with it.
