Everywhere I turn lately, I see viral kitchen products and amazon best-sellers for the kitchen. But, as someone who has lived in many small kitchens, I'm very critical of kitchen products. If it's not realllllly worth it, it's not worth the real estate in my kitchen. The last thing I want is excess products cluttering up my shelves.
But curiosity always gets me on these viral kitchen products from Amazon, so I have been testing some out. And today I'm sharing the ones that REALLY ARE WORTH THE HYPE. 2023 Viral Amazon Kitchen gadgets that I actually use regularly in my kitchen.

  • After watching your video. Here’s my take on raising a family of 6. For the chopper tool, invest in a food processor. It has blades to chop, slices cucumber radishes and potatoes, for things like scalloped potatoes. It can also grate cheese. Has a blade to make or dough in the food processor. It was under $100 at Costco. It’ll last your whole child raising years and then some. The scissors thing, I use kitchen scissors. As for French fry cutter. I have one that cuts one potato at a time is kinda like the apple core cutter in concept. Small for print in my drawer and was under $5. Also, I saw you have a blender and good mixer. I think you are all set for creating lots of meals for your family. Still remember those days with 4 boys 9 and under. Life was busy but we all learned along the way and are still alive. Everyone is now grown and happy. Thanks for the videos and tips. Have a happy life.

  • Several of these products have been available for a long time from Pampered Chef, though maybe not as cheaply as Amazon. Sometimes you get what you pay for as far as quality. 🤷‍♀️ I have the Pampered Chef food chopper. Yes, it works to chop eggs for egg salad. 😊❤️ Also, a super easy way to shred chicken is to throw it in your Kitchen Aide & let it do the work! 😊

  • I have all of the items you featured with the exception of the cord minder. I have the original Pampered Chef’s measuring stick from many years back and I love it. My meat stirrer has 4 straight sides instead of the curved sides like yours. I absolutely love each one of these tools and I often think how much easier the mundane tasks have become. Thanks for sharing!

  • Thank you for all your tips, Kallie! I appreciate you, which is why I regret to come here and disagree with one of your suggestions.. However, this has been one of the most helpful kitchen hacks for this home cook: I had one of those adjust-a-cups (whatever brand was suggested by Alton Brown), and it was always such a pain to clean. I now use a digital kitchen scale to weigh things out by grams, always placing the tricky to measure ingredient in the mixing bowl first whenever I can for best accuracy. This makes peanut butter, yogurt, sour cream, miso, curry paste, whatever...such a breeze to measure and simplifies clean-up. Yes I am talking about measuring by weight, not volume. I think these may not be the perfect equivalent, but this method has yet to fail me! You have to check the nutrition label and do some math to convert from tablespoons to grams (or whatever) which is good, bc it makes me feel like my years of math class had a practical purpose!

  • Great products you mentioned! I like the small spatula from pampered chef and also the hand chopper they have that I use when I cook ground beef for tacos. I also like the draining spoon for ground beef from pampered chef and the pampered chef indoor/outdoor grill. I use an ozark trail camping stove with the small propane canister a lot too. I cook outside on the patio. The chopping box you mentioned, I have one similar and it's the vidalia onion chopper. It helps cut onions without you tearing up. Thank you for sharing!

  • Good Sunday morning But First Coffee. Great video today (as always) - and your recommendations for Amazon products which are actually worth the hype. I just might get one of those cucumber smashers. One of my favorite kitchen gadgets is an old fashioned safety can opener, which doesn't leave sharp edges on the can lid when you open the can and throw it in the trash ( much safer of course).

  • I just wanted to share, since you mentioned the French fry cutters are big and bulky, my brother got my the Progressive potato cutter and I highly recommend looking it up! It takes up much less space and it's the same concept as the veggie dicer you showed but it cuts whole potatoes into fries super fast! I also use it for dicing other veggies super quickly.

    @laurenmullins2938@laurenmullins2938 Жыл бұрын
    • Yes, if you’re into making your own fries and frying, baking or air frying, a fry cutter is a must. It’s really no bigger than the chopper/diver, which I too have and initially was let down until I realized you need to slam it. But it works and keeps everything together because I run out of room on my cutting boards all of the time. I think everything she mentioned I agree with, have heard of of have myself. There’s also a cranking cheese grater I really like too. It’s small and suctions to the counter. If buying block cheese is what you do, it’s worth the $15/20. I used a metal box grater for my shredding until I found these products.

  • I’ve had a plastic version of the plunger style measuring cup for almost 20 years (Pampered Chef). Mine is semi-clear and reversible with measurements and a pour spout for liquids as well as the plunger side for solids. I find it so versatile and space saving that I bought a second one just for our fifth wheel camper. Space is valuable in a tiny kitchen and if an item can work double time or triple time, then it’s a WIN!!!❤️

  • In the mid 1960’s, I found a shortening measuring device at a five and dime store much like your adjust-a-cup and I thought it was genius. I used it to measure #shortening, peanut butter, oatmeal, etc. Mine has 2 parts: the cylinder and the plunger. The markings for the measurements are so faded that I’ve looked for years for a replacement. I’m excited to try one like yours, but I may be keeping my old one for sentimental reasons.

  • The measuring cup seems interesting, but my favorite product I believe is the scissors. I love my meat grinder thing which I got at Dollar Tree. I had one of those vegetable chopper/dicer and gave it away. I so wanted to love it that I kept it for years! But each time I tried to use it, I hated it. I don't remember the brand but it was well known, like green and white colored. The lid didn't seal so those chopped onions would stink up all the fridge, and the top part (the one that pushes the veggies against the blades) will collect everything and it would get really stuck there, so it was hell to clean up.

  • Love my Pampered Chef meat chopper. Have had mine for 20 years. The measuring cup….I prefer a small scale and any bowl. Cleaning this plunger style measuring cup tool between wet and dry ingredients would drive me crazy. While the Pampered Chef one has a wet and dry side I would still want to clean the wet side before flipping it to the dry. Love the can opener as I have wrist issues. I have both vegetable cutters and forget to pull them out. The cord wrap…I ordered, they would stick for a week and fall off….threw them all away. Good suggestions and like that you always state the products might not be for everyone. Can’t understand why people feel the need to leave nasty comments. Love your reviews.

So the fact you're slicing those veggies in chunks, then using that tool, configure the time it takes to clean those tools... You could've small and fine diced those veggies. Don't waste you money on that chop box! Tidy Wrap?! 💯 🎯👌🏻

Start with something like onion because it’s used in most recipes. I didn’t go to culinary school, but have improved my knife skills considerably using these tips. You don't need to peel certain foods because the skin is most nutrient packed. KZhead will help. Start with the proper way to hold a knife and go from there. Your hands and wrist will thank you! • Talking a chipper, I have one that I use regularly to chop potatoes for both chips and potato salad, for carrot, cucumber and cheese sticks to snack on. But also for chipping vegetables for vegetable soup. Using the chipper you get 2 different cutting guides, and it allows for a more even cut and portioning. If you use the other cutter as a size guide, you can dice very quickly and effectively large amounts of vegetables.

  • I have the "meat chopper". In two different sizes. The ones I have aren't spiraled like the one you showed. They are great. I use the smaller one to mash up egg yolks to make deviled eggs. It's so much easier than using a fork like I used to.

  • I had one of those veggie chopper things. You have to make sure the hinged lid lines up just right with the blade cartridge you’re using. Over time I found it wouldn’t align just right and there ended up being tiny plastic slivers from the lid being chopped up into the food 😝

    • Thank you! I worried about the longevity of this product! Also, doesn't it dull over time? I inherited a slap chop years ago, and I swear it went from brand new to too dull to cut onions in like, 15 uses

  • When you buy a battery operated can opener check that the batteries are replaceable from the top. If they are replaced from the bottom and they die mid-use, you may not be able to remove it from the can in order to change battery.

  • May I say- the “meat chopper” has been regularly used in our house! It really does a good job of breaking up hamburger, etc in the pan. My latest discovery for use is for making tuna fish sandwiches. I like my tuna cut up really fine for my sandwiches and got tired of using a fork to do it…I tried the chopper and got just the right consistency of tuna fish so it would mix well with the mayo and give me an enjoyable sandwich.

  • Adjust-a-cup is a dupe for a Pampered Chef Product that has been around for 15-20 years, nothing new invented there. It shocked me you thought it was, not in a bad way. Thanks for sharing.

  • That’s actually how you open a can not just with that device but all handheld openers. Most people cut in to the top when you’re supposed to remove the top from around the can.

  • Hamilton Beach, in my opinion is one of the best can openers. It opens tops on outside of can and allows you to pop top open and no sharp edges. Plus they also have another version. Hamilton Beach 2-in-1 Electric Automatic Can Opener for Kitchen with Hands-Free Removable Walking Head, Cordless & Rechargeable, Easy-Clean Detachable Blade and Cutting Lever, Black (76611F)

  • That canister measuring cup isn't a new thing, my mom had one that was for baking so you do t have to fight to get the butter or shortening out of a standard measuring cup. But it is a great buy!!

  • Pamper Chef (had or still has) that measuring cup for wet/dry ingredients. I had one for a very long time. I would get too impatient with that can opener you showed...too slow but, may be good for someone with wrist/hand issues.

  • You weren't even advertising this fact but I picked it up: LABEL WHERE APPLIANCES GO. I swear I am the only person in the house that can remember pots on the left pans on the right, but I never thought to LABEL the cabinet areas!!!! Like, I label bins all day long (medicine cabinet, coat closet, tool box)... But this is genius. ...I'm actually a little afraid my family will still YOLO kitchen storage, but at least now they won't have the "can't remember" excuse!
