He was very important to me growing up. The way he died shook me to the core.. He loved life so much. It showed in all his lyrics.. a one of a kind man. God rest his soul. Dennis Weaver went to high school with my mom in Joplin, Mo. Boy, did she have stories. Lol

I loved John Denver too. I'm 53, and grew up in Virginia, and we sang all of the folk songs in the school auditorium, especially the popular John Denver songs! "Country Roads", "Thank God I'm a Country Boy", and others. Plus, I liked him when he starred in that movie with George Burns called, "Oh God". Did you see that? Yeah, I was very surprised when I heard about his death. Sad too. We took it for granted, thinking that he would always be here. So try to appreciate those you love, while they're still here, because we never know what tomorrow holds.

I liked Columbo, but favored McCloud. It was funny when his boss would bitch at him.Vic Tayback...before Alice was created. I always liked Claude Akins. I always liked the theme of McCloud and also when the shadowy man held the flashlight. I remember this ep when new. These old shows are classics. I wish there were other eps of this show on You Tube. Another good thing about these old TV shows now days...you can bask for awhile in those simpler times before internet, smart phones, and computers. I am glad I was born 1960.

My first memories of McCloud was when it was on my fathers old CRT TV in 1971. I was just 8 years old back then and could barely make out the picture on our TV because it was so snowy due to my fathers lack of a proper TV aerial. Then in 2001 I saw it again on UK satellite television channel Granada plus, along with other classic US TV shows of the period like Kojak, Cannon, Hawaii-5-0, Columbo, Rockford files and so on.

I was a teenager when this programme came on British t.v. I'd not long discovered John Denver as a Singer...he had hits over here with 'Calypso' and 'Annies Song'(?)..so I was surprised to see him as an Actor in this. My Mother confessed she had a crush on Dennis Weaver....and as it was a few months before her 40th birthday and being 'skint'(broke) I wrote to his fan club requesting a signed picture for her.I had no post for quite some time so thought ID be dissappointed...however...the day before her birthday she received an unexpected envelope with U.S.A. stamps...containing a signed photo with a personal message n greeting. I thought " what a gentleman!". My Mother had a happy grin on her face f days n had his picture up on the wall f years! I liked him in the "unscripted" movie where he's in a car being persued by an 'unknown' lorry (truck) driver! Cant remember the name of the film (frustrating!)...but I thought it was a brilliantly put together example of how to use camera and sound effects to build drama, suspence and tension. At that time...technically directed excellently. Getting back to this series though....I thought the characters/acters were great and the stories were varied n interesting.A total escape from the everyday British lifestyle!

I swear they were waiting until they could find the 1st season (which Universal re-edited and then lost the originals of) before putting the rest of the show out. I am now watching McCLOUD, COLUMBO and McMILLAN & WIFE-- in the order they were broadcast! I just love all the NBC Mystery Movie series.

Fond memories of my childhood watching this, and Dennis Weaver was a terrific actor, and one of his greatest performance's was in the classic movie ; DUEL a cat and mouse thriller where he is terrorised by a psychotic tanker lorry on a dusty road on the way to work. The actual terror and desperation weaver displays in his character is both believable and reflects a true realism .A great actor.

Both of them fell in love with Colorado and lived there for a part of their lives. Weaver died in Ridgway, CO and was cremated and ashes were given to family. Denver died in California and was cremated. His ashes were scattered over the Rockies of Colorado.

Too bad there was not more of him singing. Lots of action, police of all sorts and a bag of different bad guys combined with an amazing script made this program very enjoyable and entertaining--one yhe whole family could watch together. Brilliant?? It's one of the worst episodes in the history of the series. The story had holes big enough to drive a Peterbuilt conventional through.
Mom was always glued to the TV on Sunday night
John Denver had just turned 30 years old when this was filmed and he was at the height of his popularity. I still go to sleep at night to his music every night. Fly high John..I'll always miss you! Glad I got to see you live in concert.Your legend will never die!
Rytge
I miss him too. I never saw him live to my regret. Died way too young.
@@arleneallen8824 He wasn't young in 1997
@@mohammedmay He wasn't old !!!
He was ten years older than me, but watching This I keep thinking "Be careful, kid" !!!
John Denver was such a sweetheart even then! Fly high, John- Legend!
I remember being a kid (maybe about ten years old) and watching McCloud with my dad. Forty five years later, I still appreciate what a great show it was.
I only have one thing to say about this old show I watched as a kid......................"far out"!
THIS IS CLASSIC!!!
Wow! John Denver and Farrah Fawcett? What a treat! This episode got a Writers Guild of America nomination for “Best episodic drama” in 1975.
John Denver!!! and Farrah Fawcett as a bar tart!!!! Be still my heart..AWESOME!!!
I never knew that John Denver was on an episode of McCloud. I always loved Dennis Weaver.
My dad's fav show used to watch it with him. I recognized Ed Ames, Claude Akins besides John Denver & Farrah Fawcett.
I still miss John Denver.
Epic! With John Denver!😁👍
John Denver was outstanding in the movie “Oh God”, costarring with the all time great legend: Mr Burns!!
2 seventies icons: Farrah and John Denver!
I love John Denver. He taught me to play guitar.. i cried for a very long time after he was killed. I couldn't sing along with him because i would start crying.
Miriam Jewett . Ditto. I learned guitar from him as well. Loved his music.
Yes you need o tell the stories!
John Denver Dennis Weaver And Farrah on the same show ! Can’t believe I am just finding out ❤️
ole john taught me the 6 string as well
Now, here is some truly inspired 70s casting...John Denver and Farrah Fawcett in the same TV episode? And, the great Dennis Weaver as well...? This is what 70s TV was all about, imo. Nice to discover this, as a child of the 70s!
What about clint eastwood!
@@danielcline7413 What about him?
Claude Akins was the quintessential hard nosed character actor then
And his sidekick in a lot of flicks--Jack Elam.
While I am scratching my head at rustling Holsteins, I am LOVING the fact that some of my favourite people are guest stars in this episode!
Holsteins, or Frisian herdbook cows.
After 50 years I still adores McCould.
Ah, the good old days when tv shows were actually worth watching.
Yes sir! The only reason I still watch KZhead is because I can watch the old school TV shows and the 'Made For TV Movies' that most of the time come with the commercials. I love the commercials.
Remember the show about time traveling cowboys?
I wasn’t alive first time they aired so I’m here now. Cannot be bothered with the rubbish on tv, so much better to watch YT
@@rachelmayes298 British? You need to watch Mc Cloud chasing a Vampire. Season 7 episode 6..
@@jeffreydavidconner thanks Jeffrey, will do. Hope you’re well and safe doing this weird time 💓😊💓
Growing up in Brooklyn, New York, I have always admire John Denver's Music It filled with sadness as well as serenity. I went to see him in two concerts. I was stationed at Butts Army Airfield. Ft Carson, Co. in 1976- 1980, and Mannheim, FRG in 1983-1986. I miss his music and the love of nature. he brought a sense of peace and happiness He was the best , may God rest his soul. When it's my turn to go, I hope that someday I can me him in spirit,
Wow, this episode is really wonderful.
God, I was only in 7th grade when this ep was made. My family and I would visit grandma on her farm every Sunday, and we'd all watch the Sunday Night Mystery Movie while at her home.
Hey U Can Get All The Seasons of McCloud on eBay...
Me 2, I loved MCloud back in the day!
1953 was even better.
Agree! I was also born in 1960 - we had a great childhood of awesome entertainment . Think of everything from our youth still going strong today: Star Wars, Star Trek, Mission Impossible, SpiderMan, SuperMan, etc. Not to mention recording artists like Cher, Dolly Parton and Paul McCartney! Or the TV and movie icons still with us : Carol Burnett, Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke. Those were the days, my friend!
Far out John ! R.i.P.- I'll always miss your great singing voice and laugh! Hope Heaven looks like Aspen,! Thanks for all the wonderful memories-flying high!
Love John Denver And Dennis Weaver :)
A fantastic case of miscasting.
Thank You for sharing this great American movie. In those days they did know how to speak English and know how to entertain .
at least Mr. Denver's music lasted after his death. he was a great folk singer, in my opinion.
Yes, I certainly agree !!! He is a good singer and personable on screen too !!!
He was a great singer, period.
This was awesome! John Denver! I love this TV show. Nothing like it today. I wasn't born while this aired in the 70s. Well, the last 2 yrs... 75. I saw reruns in 80s and 90s as a teenager. Even got to see Fareah Fawcett's beautiful face in this episode! Thank you!
enjoyable episode & some good comedy with it.
Dennis Weaver got his debut acting on Gunsmoke as Matt Dillon's Deputy.
I must say Thanks for giving us the honor to be able to watch a lot of stars in these days gone by series.
this cracks me up. 25 head of cattle, butchered in 25 minutes in the back of a moving semi watch your fingers!
no wonder the meat was contaminated.
On dirt roads. Sometimes we should just accept the storyline and forget about the practicallity of that storyline.
And milk cows to boot lol

At 33:30, frontier justice for cattle rustling in 1974 is the MOAW (Mother Of All Wedgies). In all seriousness, these old shows are way better than anything on TV/Netflix/etc.
Awesome 👏 enjoying the show 🍿... takes me back to a better time and place... Thanks for sharing..!!
Dennis Weaver AND John Denver together on one show!!! Whoooo Hoooo!!!!
FAR OUT ! I remember watching this show with my family when I was 3rd grader in Japan. Why cannot we find American programs like this anymore
John Denver and Colorado go hand in hand.
John Denver, Claude Akins, and singer Ed Ames is in this episode.
Oooh I remember! This is the episode with John Deutschendorf Jr. Far out!
Farrah hitting on John Denver!
Wow what a cast
I miss tv show and movie s like this. Sad
Best !! I was born in66 this song tells the way to equality, and Divine prosperity 🇺🇸Douy, miss you
My first memories of McCloud was when it was on my fathers old CRT TV in 1971.
Patrick Johnson You just named all of my favorite shows!!
I loved the scene of McCloud's chief in the bar, The Corral. Funny!
Damn sure loved seeing the ole IH Transtar cabover😉
Dennis Weaver was a great actor since his early days of Gunsmoke and probably before that.
My father and i used to watch this show together, we loved it. He is gone now so watching this now is bitter sweet. Brought back lovely memories
I Guess He'd Rather Be In Colorado, I remember that song being sung by Merle Haggard in the mini series "Centennial." It's a hauntingly beautiful song. Makes you want to go into the mountains and never come out.
I love Centennial!
What a terrific lineup of wonderful truly masculine men--just what good cowboys are made of. This show had all what's needed for true entertainment. A good script with all the necessities there for a good cowboy flick incluing theft, fights both with fists and guns, chases that include semis, cycles, trucks, horses and police cars. Very well done and very entertaining.
that guy who plays McCloud's superior officer always reminds me of Rip Torn.
Thanks for uploading this episode.
Claude Akins, also singers John Denver and Ed Ames guest starred.
One of my top favorite episodes, and one of the FUNNIEST. "Why are you calling collect?" "They only let you make a LOCAL call for free." After more than 50 years, the 1st season is FINALLY available in its original format (6 one-hour episodes) as part of the COMPLETE SERIES box on DVD!!!
Awesome! Thanks for posting. Love these shows. Hate the crap on tv today
I don't even HAVE a TV anymore; there's nothing worth watching.
You are so right. The news is fake, and the shows are total utter rubbish, or repeats. I’d rather watch these tv shoes that did have good acting and brilliant storylines.
For awhile I couldn't get past Dennis Weaver being Chester but........ McCloud and his "barnyard bromides" ------GREAT!!!!
I think these good movie shows used to come on ABC on like Friday nights. Well that takes me back!
Duel was a great movie!..I agree.
Duel was Steve Spielberg's first full length movie! That movie gave him the green light to do "Jaws!"
Willie Daniels it did for sure, as his reputation as a great emergence as a talented director was gathering momentum, he'd also directed an episode of the classic TV/drama detective Colombo, which had impressed Hollywood and then his big Hollywood break inevitably came.
Dennis Weaver will always be first and foremost "Chester", Marshall Dillion's (James Arness) sidekick which also took a special talent.
Willie Daniels I was going to post that info. Good for you! I saw Duel on tv when It first aired and it terrorized me! It took me years to stop being afraid when I was driving in desolate roads in the West! That was the first time I heard the name Steven Spielberg and when I first heard he was filming Jaws, I couldn't wait. I still go to the theater for his films to support him. IHe's still one of my favorite directors!
I nearly died laughing with Chief Clifford tried to control the horse!
A lot of humor in this episode and it was great Dennis Weaver never better I always liked him and John Denver beautiful songs especially about Colorado, particularly Rocky Mountain High it always gets to me.
The *irony*, watching *John Denver, 'show up' John Wayne's son Patrick. Literally saving him from a bad guy getting the drop on him! FAR OUT!*
Thanks for posting this. I was super young when this was on tv but I sure do miss good tv. Most of the stuff, on tv today, is complete crap!
Too cool. I had a pick-up that looked just like the one pulling the horse trailer! I bought mine in Virginia as a used one - 6 months old! It was a 1970 3/4 ton rear wheel drive - loved that truck!
Wow I have only seen this McCloud episode with John Denver in it split up into six separate parts so cool to finally see it fully without clicking on one single video of the episode after another
Loved this series... Thanks 🙏🏻 for sharing...!!
Just found this and streaming through my TV Brings back memories of my youth watching it Top show Thank you Mesessa In the words of Deputy Sam McCloud There you go
Nice to see Ed Ames and Patrick Wayne along with John Denver in a quasi-western. Nice vehicle to hear John Denver's singing. Sure wish they had the opening theme for this show. I love watching McCloud (Dennis Weaver) riding his horse through the New York City street (though it's really bad for the horse). As for Farah Fawcett, just eye candy. Nice to see Chief of Detectives Peter B. Clifford and Sergeant Joe Broadhurst in the saddle for a change.
great show!!!it ended when i was only 6 but i still love it!!dennis weaver is a legend!!and this episode has other legends like claude akins and john denver!!
and Farrah Fawcett ;)
John Denvers music is surprising ultralight and surprising down to earth
thank you i was a jihn denver fan in the u.k when this was shown and he was unknown largely here.missed this been trying to see it for years
Movies tell lots! Cool!
This show is so bloody cool I need no ice cubes 🥃🤠
I like how McCloud is played for laughs much of the time.
Great episode, thanks for sharing. Only complaint....Southern Cali makes a poor substitute for Colorado!
It was a pleasant surprise seeing John Denver as one of those Deputies that stop the bad guy with the righed gun
JOHN DENVER! :D
Fitting that the location was Colorado. John Denver was born in Roswell, NM and an Air Force Brat. Dennis Weaver was born June 4, 1924, in Joplin, Missouri. Both of them fell in love with Colorado and lived there for a part of their lives. Weaver died in Ridgway, CO and was cremated and ashes were given to family. Denver died in California and was cremated. His ashes were scattered over the Rockies of Colorado.
Such good memories! Thanks for sharing this.
RULQQKN1959 i
Every time I see Dennis Weaver's face I think of Chester.
I watched the Sunday Night Mystery when new, and I recall this ep. I was 13 when this ep was made. John Denver was good in this, he should have been in other such shows. Claude Akins was always good in movies and shows, too.
Thank you good clean 📺
DENNIS WEAVER, CLAUDE AKINS, ED AMES, PATRICK WAYNE....AND JOHN DENVER. A PRETTY GOOD CAST.
You also had Farrah fawcett and Vic tayback
Wow, this is an all-star cast.
Yeah,,, it's so awesome...
thank you not always easy to find full episodes of this show.........
What a great episode filled with the remarkable regular cast with the leader of the helm a cowboy policeman in NYC. Dennis Weaver is SO perfect in his portrayal of McCloud. To add Claude Akins who can play many different characters was a plus. Add yhe man who written and recorded some of the most beautiful songs made this episode that much more enjoyable. Too bad there was not more of him singing. Lots of action, police of all sorts and a bag of different bad guys combined with an amazing script made this program very enjoyable and entertaining--one yhe whole family could watch together. Kudos to all who worked to air McCloud ori- gnarly and those who helped preserve and bring the series to a new generation. THANK YOU!!!!
Great Episode,Loved the show
Na época eu não perdia um telefilme de MacCloud que era exibido pela extinta Rede Tupi.O saudoso Dennis Weaver interpretava MacCloud. MacCloud fez parte da minha infância e adolescência. Bons tempos!
On the Brady Bunch, they had a little cousin for a few episodes who looked exactly like John Denver.
Yeah i noticed that too
That same Actor was on BATTLESTAR GALACTICA about 1979 or 1980.
Yeah, John Denver was very trendy in the 70's.
yep!!"Cousin Oliver!"..
