How good was Fernando Torres actually? #GOAT
New episode of a documentary series where I plan to present all the greatest players of all time and then give them a score so a ranking of the best players can be created. In this episode we take on Fernando Torres who played for Atletico de Madrid, Chelsea and Liverpool for most of his career, not only one of the greatest strikers of all time but one of the greatest players of all time. See how Fernando Torres ranks and just how good he actually was.

Hi Daily Dose Of Football, absolutely loving the vids, Keep it up. I would also like to contact you for a small request in private? Is there anyway I can do so? Would be much appreciated.
Hey Man, great video. Him and David Villa are icons. Even here in Nigeria where I am from they are pretty popular.
Please can you do Carlos Puyol

The streets will never forget the long ,blonde hair ,the long sleeves and the head band gracias fernando torres

The blond hair is also a soooo very nice looking blond colour
I wish he never left athletico, i think he wouldve been a one team legend

I loved watching Torres at Liverpool he was amazing. He seamed to know where Gerrard was going to put the ball and Gerrard know where Torres was going to be almost telepathic
they were amazing together, wished I'd talked about that more in the video
Gerrard's playmaking magic+ Torres clinicality and finishing = trouble for the opponents
Exactly some strikers benefit form others and they were a good duo I strongly believe Messi wouldn't do so well without Iniesta and Xavi both were terrific Midfielders easily the best trio of the 21st Century
@@kennymichaelalanya7134 Except he did.
When he left Liverpool he broke my heart but I understood why he had to go so I forgave him and he will always be remembered by Liverpool fans.
He’s won everything in football. He won the World Cup, 2 Euro Cups, the Champions League, the Europa League and league titles. That’s a better career than many of the greats
He never won a senior league title.
Who else has Fernando Torres as their favorite player? Go El nino
If not for the injuries, he will definitely be top 10 goat footballers ever.

I'm an Arsenal fan, not a Liverpool fan, but dear God I loved watching this man play. He's still one of my top 5 PL strikers ever. He had EVERYTHING!
Fernando was a perfect striker. There are are many prodigies in this world, in different venues who might not achieved the echelons, but at the same time nobody can deny their presence in the arena. Fernando Torres, was a descent man with exceptional goal scoring ability. Truly Liverpool was decorated by his performance.
And he was happier at lfc than anywhere else
And he admits he made a mistake going to Chelsea
He was good not perfect that open net miss against united lol
Imagine a strike force of Suarez and Torres playing together since they are not too far apart in age. Pool would be sweeping up the League leaving a trail of bodies.
It's a shame Torres was more or less finished at that point. The he fucked off to Chelsea and ruined his career
F. Torres is a legend. He is the reason i started watching football. His career may have downfall a bit but he is still one of the greatest.
Torres was a absolute beast at Liverpool. He is my favorite player and I think he deserves higher than a 92 for his prime icon moments. I hope he comes back from retirement like what has been said so I can see Torres in action for a little longer.
98 at lfc
He's not gonna come back haha! WTF?
This year his icon card is 91. He deserves+2 at least
he won the corner kick that lead to Drogba's header/equalizer against Bayern! the rest is history I'm surprised you missed that
Few people realize that
When Torres cried after that UCL final loss vs Real Madrid my heart literally broke but also so happy that he won the World Cup with Spain 🇪🇸 #elnino!
Agree. So utterly human, with highest highs and lows that maybe made him accessible to general public
The video on the supporters' support to their losing team, everybody crying hard, is unique.

Was the final against Real madrid or Ac milan 2007
Sad how he was criticized for such few misses / mistakes. Every striker has a catalogue of them, look at Aguero. Torres has so many accolades
He was a beast, but it wasn’t a few misses. He couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn at Chelsea. Thankfully, his goal against Barca pretty much negated all of that. He was pure class
@@simgarfu he had beautiful goals for Chelsea, just watched all games. Worked very hard to fit into a team of superstars that did not play to the strengths of a lone striker. Also not enough recovery time after 2 knee operations in 4 months.
@@annemariegutteridge4696 he did have some great goals, but he missed a bunch of sitters as well. There’s a reason he’s considered a flop at Chelsea (and rightly so). It doesn’t matter what the formation is if you are given a bunch of chances and are wildly inconsistent
@@simgarfu nobody can look past the missd goals. He himself understood his consistency was not good. I am just an incurably loyal Torrista. Partly because of his lows and the fact that he feels too much.
@@annemariegutteridge4696 yeah I loved him at Liverpool and Atletico, not to mention his games w/ Spain. It was tough watching him at Chelsea. Either way, guys a legend
This one I've been waiting for, thank you very much for blessing us.
My pleasure!
Gerrard and Torres was simply unplayable at times. Gerrard would always find the pass, Torres would find the space with speed and directness. GOAL
Mr. Torres was a dam nightmare as a manchester united fan. Im sorry i dreaded versing that man. One of those strikers you could not plan for. Skill speed strength and finishing. Mr. Gerrard was so haply to have Mr. Torres. And The Gerrard Torres Xabi Macherano liverpool teams were great games. A wonderful complete career. Including euro winner vs Germany in final and has a wc title. And he gd Chelsea which i enjoyed lol. A great rival at my all time rival team. A worthy opponent.
Vidic, ferdinand and brown, SAF had nightmares. As a United fan it was such a shame to not see Liverpool win that league with a line up like that.
His goal for Chelsea against Barça in 2012 was for me the most memorable goal based on how I watched this live . The reactions of the goal from KZheadrs and fans alike was amazing too. Also an educational experience because many didnt know about the Offside rules
Nope. It was for Chelsea for a start so no thanks. His goal for Spain against Germany or his goal against Blackburn for Liverpool are way clear of.that. And maybe you didn't know what offside was but all the rest of us did. Especially those who played the game
Huh thats funny the worst club he played for

It was weird, really really weird, to see him wearing chelsea's jersey when played against liverpool.... That alone, was true testament how iconic he was in liverpool
Yup. And Daniel Agger let him know that he'd fucked up.
Your lack of asking for engagement very often is an important element of your skill in video making for me - I expect I'm not alone in that observation. You make excellent quality content, your love and knowledge of the topic shine through, please consider letting that remain the focus. It's refreshing, and sets the creators like you apart. Regards from the UK, and thanks for the videos
I always remembered him having a hand in every final 08, 10, and 12. But he missed his passed to Iniesta in ‘10 and Fábregas had the assist in the recovery. Still he had a hand in every final goal while Spain was reigning; How soon people forget.
I loved watching him and I don’t consider him a flop because what slowed him down was injuries . If it wasn’t for that he would be something else
My ultimate favourite player ever! God bless you for this video …it's such a shame that he lost his precious gift through injury: the deadly turn of pace (acceleration). As they say: form is temporary but class is permanent, therefore you cannot take away his legacy. Can you do one on Joaquin Sanchez PLEASE?
as a liverpool fan watching him debut and tear the league up I was amazed how good he was, and I'd been saying for a few years previously that he'd be a great signing to my mates. I honestly expected to be calling him our best goal scorer we would have this century, that he'd be mentioned as one of our best ever in years to come. But by the time he left us he was a shadow of his former self, we were lucky to get the price we did for him, and seeing the decline continue was tbh really hard to watch even though it was at a club we had a strong rivalry with. If he'd stayed to play with Suarez who knows if he would have recaptured the early form he had with us, but that could have been a truly fearsome attack. With the blessings we've had in Suarez and Salah (as the standouts) since then Torres shouldn't be underestimated, he was incredible and definitely in the World Class bracket like the others, and like Gerrard his accomplishments with the club were hindered by overall squad quality. I'm glad he returned for the charity game at Anfield years back, I remember initially he got some boo's, but they quickly faded and I think that bridges where re-built during that match. Still a reds legend for me even if only for a brief time, and regardless of moving to Chelsea. Thank you for the memories El Nino.
Congratulations for your sponsorship bro!
Thanks! It's pretty cool

Bruh! That unconscious bit. I never knew that. That was scary, glad the players realised it straight away.
There was no prime Torres. He was actually that good from his younger days. He's a fucking junior European champ top scoring in the tournament. He was a constant nightmare for Barcelona in his Athletico days. He became the face of England that marked a huge fanbase for him. Torres was one of kind Striker. Put him on any team he'll glorified the team. he was that good. It bring tears to my eyes I couldn't watch more of his matches. Well I can't watch anymore wished he was born again
I still watch his games at all his clubs on KZhead. Have to do it every 3 months. Even the lesser ones at Chelsea, although its a stab to my heart!
Torres has one of those weird careers where he didn’t win anything major in his prime, but won everything when he was not the main player on the squad
yeah facts, always found those careers sort of well.....weird
He won euro 2008 and WC 2010 when he was at his prime even he had injuries few months or weeks before tht WC tournament.

You missed the part from the 2010 WC final where Torres was at the origin of the ball that the Dutch defense couldn't clear and that Fabregas converted into a match winning assist.
Love the content sir, keep it coming. There was one thing you brought up that threw me off a bit. While it’s true that his goal in the 2012 champions league wasn’t tech the winning goal, it was the knife in the heart. IIRC, Barcelona were parked inside of Chelsea’s, well, 20 yard box lol at that moment. I “knew” they were going to score, and my stomach was hurting (Madrid fan here 😝). Then, the miraculous happened!!! IMO, Barca would’ve scored w/o that last little stab.
Exactly! Sometimes you wonder if those who said 'Chl would have qualified ANYWAY' know football! Is football an exact science? Goals are not scored because you defend , penalties are rare, balls take no funny rebounds, etc. To me, they were about to score indeed. And I would even add that that kind of finish boosted the Blues' moral for the final. Long live the memory of F9T!
Fernando Torres was one of my fav strikers ever thanks for reminding people how good this guy was
El Nino was a beast is the ultimate understatement. Exciting, opportunistic, brilliant. The adjectives go on and on. Thanks for this episode. Much respect...

Fernando Torres was the reason I feel in love with this beautiful game. I wish he played longer
I'll never forget his first goal against Chelsea, big expectations and was eager to see what he could do. Then he gets the ball, breezes pass the defender as if he wasn't there and scores from a tight angle, and made it look so effortless!
He came back from injury too soon to play for Spain in the 2010 World Cup so he was never the same after that. Even though he wasn’t as impactful at the World Cup as he could’ve been he is still my GOAT. Mi héroe “El Niño”
I was a Liverpool fan before but he made me fall in love with football again
Amazing work. Can you make a video about Miroslav Klose? He also was an idol for many young kid in the late 90's and early 00's.
Was he though? Great at World.Cups but not incredible anywhere else. Podolski was the same
Great video. One correction though. The goal against Barca might be iconic, but it was not important. Chelsea had already progressed to the next round with the 2-1 loss in the Nou Camp. That goal was just a beautiful tombstone to my teams hopes for a consecutive final. It wasnt as important. 2 minutes were left and chelsea was already through. Torres goals next year in europa league were more important in my opinion.
Nah, I watched the game live - everyone knew Barca was about to score.
Was a time when he was my favourite player. Appropriately named the kid cos he played like one. He was rough with the ball, treated it like his property rather than something to treasure and I loved that. Was especially prevalent when he dribbled, he had this way of hooking the ball & dragging it with him like it was his prisoner - unrefined but in complete control, not seen technique (or lack of) quite like it since. Made him such a dynamic, unique & exciting striker to watch. I should regret Chelsea signing him cos Aguero 100% would've come if we hadn't, the big regret of the Roman era, but I really don't. Never enjoyed watching Aguero in his prime quite like I did watching Torres in his, I'm not unhappy to say he played for my club at the end of the day & he played his part in the Champions League win.
I really love what you do, maybe you should set up a patreon or something more. I really love all the videos

Torres was beyond anyone in his prime, what a finisher the way he could manipulate the ball off one touch out if the air and still turn so quick and shoot, he was so consistent! Then he left Liverpool... Happens to all great Liverpool players when they leave, and then to Spain where he never got the chance like plenty of brilliant Premier players... Too political in Spain.
