  • Josh, I’m 6’3” 300, but stayed about 270. I have a similar build and style. I’m 47 now and Judo was my game. As an American, well we aren’t he best Judo Nation. I boxed, Wrestled Greco and Folk and well idolized you. The technique and submissions always made me want to be faster and cleaner. Sadly, my competition was always larger than me. But, I kept true to my strengths. With my body being very “Fedor” looking I was always the most “out of shape” but I was the first to arrive and last to leave. I crossed over into BJJ and Sub wrestling and followed NHB to MMA to UWFI. Pancrase…. On and on… I watched Before UFC aired and knew Ken Shamrock, Gerard Gordeau, Pat Smith and Gracie. I want to thank you for not being a sheep and being different. Don’t let catch die! Reach out to me ans once I get my hips replaced and I’d love To bring catch to West Va.

  • Josh is raising some good points around the 20 minute mark, modern MMA is mostly just (bad) kickboxing with an occassional takedown, followed by an interruption due to either the round ending or the Ref standing them up. We had blue belt world champions because grappling has been so much eliminated from the equation, not because it's not relevant for fighting but because the rules limit it dramatically. Would be interesting the see a new MMA company that dares to implement some innovation and change the rules a lot. I don't expect the UFC to do anything, they haven't even been able to fix their eye poke problem and probably are too busy with that powerslap nonsense.

  • Ariel hates Dana White and hates the UFC and can’t stand not talking about it as well. Barnett acknowledges that it’s all about the fans and then doesn’t understand why the five minute rounds limit ground development in a fight.

    • Barnett is twice his size and can out chain wrestle him. Trading strikes would be gruesome. I don't think Danielson can fly high enough to believably best Barnett. Of course Barnett is a pro's pro like Danielson, and the two men could probably figure it out. I can't see it working, but it would be cool if they could.

    • I think what he was trying to say is these to guys are just kickboxers more so than mma guys, it's obvious both guys won't be submission grapplers or landing high crotch slams but they do know enough to stay out of bad positions. Obviously given there accolades, I love josh but he would never say damien maia needs to stand more if he was a champion choking everyone out
