#CarolinePolachek #DesireIWantToTurnIntoYou
Desire, I Want to Turn Into You has been described as an art pop, alternative pop, and new-age record, with elements of electronic, rock, and trip-hop. Shaad D'Souza of The Guardian wrote: "Ratcheting up both the fantastical elements of its predecessor as well as its humor and pop instinct, Desire is an eclectic, elaborate, and cheekily deranged sequel and one of the year's most anticipated releases". The album features bagpipes, children's choirs, Spanish guitar, "beats that run the gamut" from Ray of Light-style trip-hop to Celtic folk and early '00s-style radio pop. Polachek herself described it as "a very maximalist album"

  • She studied opera when she was younger, hence the impeccable vocal control that makes you think it's autotune. This is truly AOTY for me, what a force of nature this album is!

    • bruh that's not a testament to her talent, that's a testament to how good audio technology has become over the last 20 years. If you think big acts like her don't safety-net their performances with a pre-recorded backing-track, then you need to study the music industry a little more closely.

Dido (pronounced “Dye-doe”) is a British singer who had several hit singles in the early 2000s, even a young’un like you would recognize her single “Thank You,” which Eminem sampled for his song “Stan.” No Grammys but she did get an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song in 2011.

  • I found you like last week and am obsessed with your album reactions because i they're such a MOOD omg you have taste and i like to see it xD anyway, my favorite album og the year is this one, and i kept hoping you would react to it, BUT YOU HAD!! Just hadn't seen the video. I'm THRILLED you loved it!! It truly is a masterpiece, breathtaking art that moves so deep and soars so high into freedom feels. Insane vocals that i love emulating, lol, and incredible production. My favorite song was for a while Blood and Butter because of those FREAKING BAGPIPES that just give me EVERYTHING, it's such a vibe oh my god. I adore "I believe" as well, for different reasons. I listened to this on repeat all spring, and it ended up being the most needed and comforting companion as i went through a loss in May, and the lyrics suddenly resonated personally, with the grief in me. It has been such a gift this year. Caroline deserves all the accolades.

  • You should check out some of the artist that tours with Caroline!!! You already did Ethel Cain which is fantastic, but you also gotta check out Magdalena Bay and Sudan Archives!!! Trust me, they're fucking amazing and they'll be worth your time, Caroline Polachek knows a great musician when she hears one!

  • So one of my faves is “Anywhere I Lay My Head” by Scarlett Johansson, people barely know she made a folk album, it’s 99% Tom Waits covers, not a critical success and not a bestseller. I got it back in my prepubescent days when I would ask my aunt to basically get me anything pop starts or entertainers released, but this album marked a shift from pop to more alternative stuff, was probably the first album that I loved start-to-finish and expanded my tastes in general ✌🏼
