@@ChrisM-bn5vr yeah but at the same time not naming some ridiculously obvious ones makes you look at it and scratch your head for instance Frank Sinatra was absolutely humungous but wasn't their along with ABBA and Louis Armstrong. along with that as pointed out in the video very few bands or artists within the last 30 years where named which shows extremely obvious bias like come on I'm pretty sure that people are going to be talking about people like Drake, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga for decades to come but yet none of them appeared on the list even if you dislike their music they are still some of the most well known artists nowadays and even if you avoid them to not have the list dominated by modern artists that are well known today at least some modern artists should have appeared. finally as an aside the name of the quiz was not the top 100 music artists within the last X number of years so humorously they should have included really old music artists like Beethoven and Bach and finally the list was also not locked into specifically western artists so in truth we should have been inundated with artists from places like China or India since you got to imagine that the popular artists within the most populous countries in the world would have stupid large followings although I can accept that a reasonable person would expect a quiz like this to stick with English music within living memory

I'm a metal fan but not seeing ABBA on this list is an absolute disgrace
DEEP PERPLE
Gesundheit.
PURPLE DRANK
Is this guy dyslexic?
Yeah, absolute shit list
@@cowlec8761 no, he did spell Deep Purple before, so he tried another weird spelling. Sometimes artist names or titles have quirky or wrong spelling on purpose, and people always assume the right spelling. Idk why that comes to my mind as an example but a lot of people think the Quentin Tarantino movie is called Inglorious Bastards when it is actually Inglourious Basterds
ABBA not being on this list is absolutely ridiculous
I know right?!?!?!
Found it funny how he reacted to it though xD
lots of names on this list that ABBA should be ahead of though.
haha, nah, I hate them. My favorite Abba song though is I'm A Marionette because a metal band I like covered it, only reason I know it.
ABBA is one of the only bands/artists whose every single song is a hit. Not even the Beatles or Rolling Stones could achieve that. Definitely deserves to be in top 20.
How Frank Sinatra, Willie Nelson, Phil Collins and ABBA aren’t on this list but Booker T and the MGs are is a disgrace.
Who the fuck are any of them? Are you like 60 or something 😂
Yeah Booker T and the MGs are pretty great though and they played on a ton of the Stax singles. How they make the list must be in terms of influence rather than popularity.
harry broughton what songs do you like kid?
MrGogh lil pump probably
harry broughton you didn’t offend me mate, well maybe a little, i just don’t like ignorant people who disregard and somewhat disrespecting every music that came before their time (obviously you were joking, but still it came out disrespectful) i mean you have the internet. On the other hand i can’t hate people just because of their taste in music, so you can like whatever music you like

One of the worst bands of all time
Queen at 52, Pink Floyd at 51 this list is bonkers lmao
i hope you are kidding?!
@@satellitesgone130 Nice b8
I'm also quite upset at the absolute lack of jazz artists. Herbie Hancock, Coltrane, Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, etc. certainly deserve spots.
yeah definitely!!
I find it funny that Howlin' Wolf made the cut over all of them too.
I also expected Frank Sinatra
I think I did a school project about herbie lol
I believe the actual criteria of the list in Rolling Stone is the most influential artists of the rock and roll era, which unfortunately excludes many of the greats.
wow this list is terrible. bowie at 39? floyd at 51? no smiths?
No Smiths? You just saved me half an hour, thanks.

3:45 that Bob Dylan impression killed me
What a terrible list lol. Fun vid tho
Nearly every list would be called Terrible. People will nearly never fully agree on Music top lists.
Even as a fan of Dylan, the reason he is so high is I think the magazine is actually named after 'like a rolling stone' and not the rolling stones, so he's always bumped up these lists
The song is also #1 of their top 500 songs
According to them he’s somehow a better songwriter than both McCartney and lennon. He’s good but not *that* good
@@ala0284 I prefer him as a songwriter/lyricist to Lennon and McCartney, but that's the problem with trying to make an objective list of such a subjective medium. You always need to take any kind of ranking music or art in general with a massive pinch of salt

IMO Michael Jackson should've been higher. He's had influence for a couple of decades and still does and also c'mon he's The King of Pop.
Yeah, a crappy list in most part.
This is the most boomer list I’ve seen
Thats what i thought to myself lol
At least boomers made good music.
Because Boomers had the better music
Most of the greatest music was in the 60s and 70s. Who out there right now is going to be as highly regarded as the Beatles, Floyd, Zeppelin etc? I'll give you a hint, there aren't any.
Lmfao, you can't compare old music to contemporary, you have to let it age first. in 50-60 years the boomers will all be dead and no one will care about those bands and we'll all be nostalgic for people like Kendrick Lamar, Beyonce, Eminem, and Adele. That's how music and aging works....
16:15 "I cant even think at the moment, WHO, WHO I can put in there." Well you just called out their name twice. Almost lost it from frustration right there. Fun video though, and it's a lot easier when you're watching along and can just fill in the gaps.
The Cure, Nick Cave, The Smiths, Joy Division, Sonic Youth, Swans, Depeche Mode, King Crimson, My Bloody Valentine, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Kraftwerk should be here

How isn't there classical artists like Beethoven on this? They define many elements or modern music.
Because sales and modern cultural influence are the main points considered.
@@unimpressedalchemist that's reasonable, but by that logic people like Michael Jackson should be in the top 10. He had massive sales, and huge influence on culture. There's many artists ranked high on this list that are not quite household names due to their shaping of musical genres. My point is that some classical artists preceed all of this, defining things like chord progressions and song structures that are used today.
Because the list is about modern artists?
If this was about modern culture then why isnt there a single artist from the last 20 years in it, but every orher artist is from 1950+
@George GORBATCHEV that's one of the few that seems about right. He had some good hits, but way less than others.
Weird list...You got Eminem, Tupac, RUN-DMC or Public Enemy but no Biggie Smalls... No Linkin Park or Red Hot Chilli Peppers? And no Miles Davis, John Coltrane? What is this?

Its a list made by people. How would you make a list for music when theres not really any facts you can go for. I would have laughed if linkin park be in that list to be honest.
Well they had to put the list together somehow... Not by popularity that is obvious. Then what was the main factor? Influence? Originality? Either way it's not consistent.
Would be a complete disgrace if linkin Park or RHCP made it, awful bands

feverpa Well said. A lot of people do not give Prince the credit he fully deserves, as an artist he is honestly one of the best ever. Quite dissapointed in our Wizard here
Agreed. Prince was a brilliant songwriter, one of the best guitarists of all time (not a well known thing), a great showman
It's amazing to me that Prince had like 39 albums but I only ever hear about 4 songs

"Nine Inch Nails what are they doing in there" if this list is about influentals they surely have much more of a place in there than many others on this list. But this list is obviously nothing more than a joke with Queen at 52 and Michael Jackson at 35. But that comment was disappointing nonetheless.
Tim Hunter yeah I was confused when he said that. Trent Reznor is a genius.
Queen is very popular but i don't think they've been as influental as many people believe.
billy joel not being included, abba neither. rolling stones is a shambles.
Unless I missed it, its criminal that Robert Johnson isn't on this list. The influence he had on modern music is immeasurable, the technical prowess was great, the story and the mystique surrounding it is the best any entertainment genre has ever had, and the music was damn good for the time period. Given how many of these top 100 artists were born from DNA that RJ planted, he should be top 10, or at worst top 20.
