KungFu vs Karate vs Taekwondo
In today's video, we would be looking at the differences between Kung Fu, Karate, and Taekwondo. Martial arts has become a very exciting sport because it is excellent for your physical and mental health. But mostly because you learn how to defend yourself. Thanks to martial arts actors like Jackie Chan, Jet Li, and Bruce Lee, so many people are more aware of the art. And some have taken a keen interest in it.

Thanks for watching guys! Let me know which martial is better?
Great video
😂😂
It's not the art; it's the artist.
Do shotokan vs kyokushin
We are a bit biased 😂🤭 nice recap!
Depends on the user
For me taekwondo is best
Kung Fu is the strongest Karate needs few times to master Taekwondo needs focus Although I love karate most
@@aytayt I'm a Kung Fu practitioner and i believe every martial art is useful as long as u know how, when and where to use it
Martial artist not user !
ITF taekwondo is Good
Really appreciate how they go over the arts respective strengths without downplaying any of them. Helps avoid the trap of which is better, since its more of a paper rock scissors thing in my experience.
N what exerpience is that? Iv vs couple so called taekwondo masters while i had a karate brown belt n they didn't stand a chance...
@@Stranger69in you power my power haha
No style is better; it's the practitioner that makes the difference!
As far as I know, taekwondo could be practiced in many different ways. Choose your club wisely. You can practice sportiv form, wich emphasis on combat and making quick kicks, balance, stamina, stance... for scoring. You can practice traditional way, which emphasis on poomse, philosophy, lifestyle, attitude... You can practice for representation where you have to be flexible, quick, perfect execution... And there is probably lots of other way to practice, and you probably mix them. I've seen clubs where they focus on combat, others where it's like a gym-taekwondo club. There's no such thing as "a pure practice". But there's fantasy around what martial arts are.
I was watching fighting games videos and it's amazing how characters display their different fighting styles giving each it's unique skills and the fact they're so realistic means that each fighting style offers something different.
Great and informative video, thank you!
Amazing, and both from Asia. Thank you for this great video.
Excelente video 👏.
The speaker has some good insight about the conceptual differences in the different martial arts.
It depends on the fighter in karate they are teaching you how to avoid critical hits and how to be less damaged during the fight. If you are fighting 3 dudes of course that someone will land a hit on you but you can avoid that and be less damaged.
It would be interesting to see arts like Muay Thai, Silat and Eskrima added in these sorts of videos as well as Judo, Jiu Jitsu etc
When I was a Kid I practiced tae kwon do and watching this made me realized why. Those fast kicks sure look amazing.
The swiftness of Kung-fu, the endurable body of Karate, the power and speed of Taekwondo, those three will make you as a human weapon. You won't give a chance to enemy even if it's 1vs2 But better run if it's 1vs3 or if opposite has weapon and you are bare hand.
it was so cool and amazing. I always wanted to learn marshall arts but didn't know witch one . now i think 🤔 i can learn karate. anyway all of them are epic.
Try Wing chun is also most effective martial art.
@@nathanelliasin8739 Thanks friend.
Good choice. Ossu.
Très beau travail
Não sou praticante de nenhuma das técnicas citadas... Mais pelo q acompanho em vídeos de profissionais... Das 3, o Kung Fu tem uma variedade maior de golpes, além do uso de armas...
I've seen that Kung fu is more professional and effective than the others bcoz they trained as military and more useful for fighting, but the important things in kung fu is self dicipline, so this is Martial art most advanced in the world. We also love to taekwando and karate for the self defense. Here we know the weakness of kungfu 1. bored when if not hard to train 2. Student 3.Long range fighting 4. Tired 5. flexible body 6.pain 7. Dangerous train 8. Remembering all that skills. All self-defence is better as kung fu, taekwando and karate. All is good martial arts.👍👍👍👍👍

Let me help you: Kara-te Jitsu (Tou-Di Jutsu) was formed in Okinawa and was also heavily Chinese influenced. It's over 900 years old. The father of modern Kara-te is Ankoh Itousu. Gichin Funakoshi was a junior student of his when he was sent to Japan around 1924. The Japanese urged him to alter what he did to fit into their xenophobic culture, essentially eliminating many of the original techniques and even changing the names of the Katas, as there were still longstanding hostilities between Japan and China. Go Ju Ryu (Naha-Te), Shorin Ryu (Shuri-te), and Matsumura Orthodox (Tomari-Te) are their main 3 systems. The original names were the names of the capitol cities of the 3 kingdoms of Okinawa before they were unified by King Sho Hashi. The movements are more circular and flowing as compared to their Japanese descendants: Shotokan, Shoinkan, Kyukoshin, etc, their movements have lower stances, and are much more linear and rigid, but still effective.
But was it 'heavily' Chinese influenced? I mean the early form of Wushu didn't even have side kicks and back kicks. If you are talking about influence French Savate influenced Karate the most.
Interesting stuff. Let's not forget Jiu Jitsu: kicks, locks, punches, strikes, throws, hold downs, ground work....I do this and Tae Kwon Do and, together, you're covered for most eventualities.
If you want to learn martial arts in a Western country, I recommend karate or taekwondo. These two have well-organized systems and have many gym in Western countries. Moreover, those are official Olympic sport.
Muito bom !!! 🇧🇷 👍
What the name of the movie from the scenes they showed Jackie chan in
kung-fu was actually started by farmers, farmers who needed to protect their land, then later on some farmers practiced more, and made it an art, and they became monks.
I have a black belt in kenpo karate. But id like to learn kung fu as well 👍🏻
I train shotokan karate and it does matter on the martial arts you do it depends who is the better fighter
Even I too practice Shotokan karate 🔥🔥
the strongest karate is Japan Karate Association Shotokan
todas son disciplina y tienen un propósito y todas manejan armas, depende el ejecutor como las aplique para tener una comodidad con el estilo de arte que nos acoplemos placentera mente.
cool trick: try translating the english subtitles into another language (it can be any language) and then translate the translation back to english, example: english>portuguese>english
Wow good idea
Gostei do vídeo legal!
Btw, master gichin funakushi is the one who made shotokan, probably the most popular one

From what movie is the clip at 2:11 from?

Each technique has it's strengths and weaknesses. It is all a matter of personal preference. In a nutshell the main differences between these 3 techniques. Kung fu is fluid like fast or slow flowing water depending the technique hard or soft. Tiger, Eagle's Claw are Hard style hard style examples. Tai Chi Ch'uan and Wing shun are soft. While Karate are more rigid and robotic. And Tae Kwon Do is somewhere between the two with more emphasis on foot and aerial work.
My 11 year old daughter has just quit kick boxing this week after 6 years and is going to start taekwondo next week .

Let’s not forget that Okinawan karate has its roots in Chinese kung fu.
Dont forget Taekwondo is a direct derivative of kung fu
@@mainakdas4272 Complete bs lol do you even know the early form of kungfu didn't even have side kicks and back kicks? I'm not saying Okinawate isn't influenced by Kungfu but most Karate kicks came from French Savate. Plus tkd is a direct derivative of Karate and this is a fact certified by tkd elder masters.
@@lasvegascity I know that. But chong Hong ui practiced karate, traditional Korean martial arts... And then went to China and learnt kungfu.. then he opened tkd in America. So we can not say or believe in ur fact.
@@mainakdas4272 You know Choi Hong Hi isn't the only founder of tkd right? What I said was based on the interviews of the founders of tkd Lee Jun Gu, Lee Jong Woo, and the book written by Lee Chang Hoo. Chinese Kungfu wasn't mentioned throughout, and to the interviewer asking if the basic skills of tkd were based on Taekkyeon they made it clear all kicks they have taught in the beginning were 'Karate kicks'. There might have some founders who practiced Kungfu, but that doesn't make tkd the 'direct derivative of Kungfu' just like we don't call it a direct derivative of Taekkyeon. The fact tkd is a direct derivative of Karate is stated in WTF and ITF associations' official comments.
@@lasvegascityhave u ever seen poomsae? In higher poomsaes none of moves are related to karate
When you get into an actual fight. Its Karate and Judo that are used for self defense. Kung Fu is used for kata exercise and Tae Kwon Do is for kicking exercise. 😊😊😊😊
Lol. I disagree. I have seen many karate fighter (shotokan and kyokushin) getting beaten up by me before i started tkd. Nothing is superior. All are the same. Its all about the technique u use
If you are talking of the practicality in general your state might be right to some point, but when it comes down to mma tkd's turning hook kick and airborne kicks could be quite useful as trick shots in some cases like when your leg's caught in mid-air for example. Every martial art has its own use.
Lol no When you get in an actual fight it's about numbers + weapons It doesn't matter what style you've trained in if the other guy has 10 of his buddies with him and baseball bats
@@yuenhai average street fighter noobs who see red and wear oversized pants
Depends on the fighter
Kung Fu , Karate, and Taekwondo. all 3
Cool
"Kalaripayatuu" is the mother of all martial arts even "kung fu" came from kalaripayatuu
every martial art is derived from the sucker punch
But in the dojo that i train in, the attire is called a gi
Or does it depend on the place of the dojo
Good luck channel.
Kung Fu is not a word that refers to a single martial art. It literally translates to "Practice" in Chinese, and refers to hundreds of ancient Chinese martial arts of all kinds. The founder of Taekwondo was a Korean karate practitioner, and the founder of karate was a Ryukyuan kung-fu practitioner.
I'll bet you do the David Carradine form
💙❤️Kung-fu Philosophy for me....plus it's drunk friendly #Balance
Karate was my first martial art that I just started since I was twelve years old.
I started when I was 10
Shorinji Kempo was born in Japan. It is also recognized by the Chinese Shorinji.
For me here Karate Is the deadliest because of its linear moves and also it focus on grappling ,weapons and my ranking is 1. Karate 2. Kung Fu 3. Taekwondo.
Yes above all is true. Here we know what is the difference of this martial arts. 1 karate say: I can break the rock and I can use all weapons 2 kung fu say: I can break the rock with one inch hand, I can use all weapons and most effective skills & I will focus on target. 3Taekwondo say: I can drop you with one hand & I can kick you with one leg.
@@nathanelliasin8739hello, Im still confused, Can you please help me to find out which is better for me. I'm 24yrs(girl),and I want to be like even without any weapons also- I should be strong, powerful, and protective anyone.. And which one is better for me ??I dont know the basics also. I'm really interested to learn something like this. Can u suggest me
@@jahnavipriyajaanu1998 I'm not the teacher but I can suggest you, all martial art using hands and kicking and also using weapons. If you want to better martial art is wing chun Kung Fu this is the most recommended to use in the battle because it using more skills. Karate also use the same fighting with kung fu but very strong hit and kicking so it’s enough to use in self-defence. If you learning this martial art discipline Is most important. but training take to much time to learn the skills and maybe longer. But you can do it if you interested.
From those three I would say taekwondo is least effective for self defense because of too much kicking. Whenever you throw a kick you risk going off balance.
I think it depends on how many years you've been doing it
Jeet kun do is the best among all these .
Karate is superior. The arm is hardened that any part of the opponents body hit by that arm is like being hit by a dos por dos.
Everything with incredible skill will become Kung Fu not just martial art. The word Kung Fu was already exist sometime around 500 BC by a guy name Kung Fu.
You missed to mention TONI JAA but at least you mentioned MUAY THAI.
Nice
Thanks
I do karate my favourite kick is izagari
These free martial arts very powerful and very powerful and each of them are very unique in their own style Karate Kung Fu taekwondo these free martial arts very unique is how you learned them and how you use them that count I just wish that I could have stayed in karate it could've helped me became a stronger and better person in the very best I can be it's how you use it counts that makes it work 🥋☯️🙏😌🙏☯️🥋
No, I want to see the match I saw in the thumbnail 😂
Kung Fu all the way
DAMN RIGHT IT IS 👊
Everybody is Kung Fu fighting
@Zuka Gamer Kung Fu is about reacting to your opponent. Karate is about be the first to make agressive offensive interactions. Kung Fu is specialized in defence whereas karate is good in offense but a bit less developed in defence. Kung Fu reacts to the offensive style and makes a counterattack. Both styles are not better than each other just better in certain situations
@Zuka GamerGichin Funakoshi is an expert at karate not Kung Fu I agree both forms are really dangerous but real experts know how to combine both fighting styles
I never think karate only is good, all martial art have weakness.. Kung fu can Knockout the Karate becoz Karate don't know the target. Kung fu can find all the target but weaknesses is want to use all body and remembering all skills with difficulties.
Gotta love when your tkd school gives you a good mix of all 3 giving you kicks as fast as punches and takedowns that aren’t quite as good but almost as effective as judo practitioners completely denying McDojo culture 😂😂😂😂
so where was the "vs" part ?
I Sean is throwing away some belts today and will me sure no one forget today on 1.19.2024 Sem 4.89 1.24
1955 South Korean General Choi Hong Hi gave the name TAEKWON-DO! Why the film does not mention his name at all. ITF was established in 1966. WT was established in 1973 ! I was born in Saigon Vietnam, i started my TaeKwon-Do training in 1968 . Colonel Nam Tae Hi and the TaeKwon-Do demonstration team was invited by South Vietnam President. Colonel Nam and the Legendary Founder of the Original TaeKwon-Do , Gen. Choi introduced the art to South Vietnam in 1953!
i go to taekwondo thats why i think its best
These comparisons btw different fighting styles are useless. There are too many variables in the equitation. All have strengths - and weaknesses too. So all depends... So just light entertainment.

What?
The most advanced martial art is Jeet Kune Do. It can incorporate all three, however, it also requires the most dedication and a lot of personal trial and error. Elements of it are banned in most competitions of the other forms, but if you want to survive the streets, it is the best. The other determinants are simply how good, strong, fast, flexible, and coordinated, your body is, and how controlled and smart your mind is.
👍
What if you learn all the martial arts?
For me mix martial arts and karate is fine .
Kung Fu is From China 🇨🇳 Karate is From Japan 🇯🇵 Taekwondo is From South Korean🇰🇷
I know :)
It's just korea cause before korea was divided, people had practiced tae kwon do (Another thing, taekwondo is more pronounced te ggwon doe)
Kung fu from tamilnadu ( India)
Well there are two types of taekwondo one is wtf which is known as s.korean style and itf which is known as n.korean style
o verdadeiro kung fú não se compara com nenhuma outra arte marcial. entendão isto de uma vez
TKD is superior in kicking, but lacks extensive hand fighting
The strongest martial art is professional wrestling, followed by kickboxing. Compared to those, the ones introduced here are just for fun.

Jeet Kune Do
Karate means "Chinese hand", not "empty hand". "Kara" means Chinese that come from Tong Dynasty. Tong Dynasty gave huge effect in many fields of administration systems including taxation and culture to Japan around the 8-9 centries. After the collapse of the Dynasty, Japanese people continued to call many subsequent chinese dynasties "Tong" which sound is "Kara" in Japanese pronunciation. Why so many people believe Kara means "empty"? The reason why Master Funakoshi choosed a chiese character ”emptiness” in Buddhism that has many important meanings and the Japanese pronunciation is same "Kara". You need the knowledge of chiese character background to understand what I write. Again, I stress if you think Karate means "empty hand", it is quite superficial understanding or believe wrong information.
I LOVE TAE KWON DO
Use for self defens
Colt, IMHO.
Not wushu is a subbranch of kung fu. Wushu means martial art. Kung Fu means skill, craft. So both can be used interchangeably.
