“I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse.”
Read the book, Watched the movie and I still cannot get enough of this masterpiece of a story. It stood the test of time... Really my words are not enough to describe it and I would not say anything new that has not been already said anyways. I tried to remind you all how good this movie is with this small piece - that honestly will not do it justice because I think, nothing would do it justice.
Let me know if you want Michael Corleone one too.
I want to take this opportunity to thank my patrons, You have no idea how grateful I am, you people literally put food on my table. Thank you!

    • Indeed, a man's carelessness is unacceptable since it's his duty and privilege to keep his family together through safety and love. One ought not to look down on excessive preparations. Women and children should remain pure, untainted and incorruptible, let the man be the one to get his hands dirty to preserve that purity. "A man who doesn't spend time with his family, can never be a real man." -Vito Corleone Since Vito's definition of manhood involves the bond of family, it is therefore conclusive that what he is referring to about "carelessness" is the intolerability of a man's carelessness if it involves the safety and integrity of his family

    • No, you can see it from the start. Michael joined the marines to gain "strength". Strength that proves he is worthy of his father's empire. Look at how he describes how Luca and Vito threatened a producer. Vito looked at these kinds of jobs as, well, jobs. Chores. Necessities. Meanwhile, Michael is describing with so much lust and pride in his face. Michael desired his father's seat since the beginning. Evermore so since he was the youngest, and how forced and false looking his apparent "hatred" of the mafia life is. To fool others, even himself, into thinking that he's a "good" person. Michael sold his soul to the devil when he murdered The Turk, and in exchange gained nigh infinite power. It is this exact power that ruined his life.

He told me to take the lessons from this movie to heart, at least the ones that are relevant to us. There are principles and morals to be learned from the trilogy. Family, above all. You keep them safe, spend time with them, make good friends who become family. Emphasize loyalty. And when trouble comes, you will have the means to tackle any problem...together...so you can all break bread and share yet another good memory.

His son riddled with bullets, his daughter beat by her husband and went with different men before returning to the family, his youngest son became part of the family against his wishes - even ended up ordering the hit on his other son, Fredo who betrayed Michael.

  • I've seen this movie 10 times, it always shows me something else. Before, I would think that Michael had little choice, and all the killing was just necessary to protect his family, like he says in part III. But the thing is, he was violent at heart, a bit like Sonny. He didn't need to kill so many to protect his family. He did it because he thought it would be good for business, for power.

    @dirkvantroyen9170@dirkvantroyen91703 жыл бұрын
    • I think that part of the premise was that power would essentially corrupt michael beyond his usual sensibilities. Unlike vitor, who continued his criminal vendettas to survive and support his family, michael initially gave into the criminal life to protect his family, but it eventually turned him into something that he could not even predict. Losing his father and his first wife eventually turned him completely into a cold blooded monster.

    • Im agree with you, Michael Corleone : the businessman. Killing for bussines. Vito Corleone : the family man . Killing for the family . - On Godfather part 1 When Michael ask tom, tom said "if Godfather died , we will lose 50 % power" So Michael plan to kill anyone his enemy. Barzini family and other. So Michael make same power every family .

I watched The Godfather yesterday and I cannot stress enough how this film finds a way to enjoy the relations, fate of people, and aesthetic storytelling, like watching it for the first time. Truly masterpiece.

  • I always loved when Vito was defending Michael in the sit down saying "If he should be shot by a police officer" to "Being struck by a bolt of lightning". That just conveys the power of his message, he went from a conspiracy to divine intervention and he'll hold every single person in that room accountable. That is a father ready to kill for his family, it's so powerful because Vito tends to be against violence as he's more diplomatic, "but that I cannot forgive". He laid down his terms and conditions right there and right then, Michael became one of the most protected men in the Mafia, with other families looking after his wellbeing (at least until he came back to NY lol...)
