    • playboogie Much different. When KD went to GS, he was already an mvp and 5 time scoring champ that had GS down 3-1. GS had won 73 games and Steph was a 2 time MVP being the first unanimous mvp ever.

    • I was frustrated too with Jalen Rose being unable to understand even the simplest things that Stephen A said. You’re right he may have been rude, but in this case I can at least understand him because he felt he was being misunderstood every time he said something. Jalen Rose couldn’t stay on point and understand a single thing Stephen A said. On the other hand Stephen A completely heard and understood Jalen and didn’t agree, but also didn’t keep the conversation at a standstill because he understood exactly what was being said to him. Basically, Stephen A was frustrated because honestly Jalen wasn’t making much sense because he couldn’t understand the basic premise of what was being said to him in the first place.

    • No, he didn't say any of that And Jalen is RIGHT. Kyrie unknowingly joined a Superteam. Are we going to discredit his rings? What if Durant played with Harden and Westbrook and won multiple titles? Are we going to discredit those rings? And Golden States record was inflated. The Golden State went 73-9, the Thunder were up 3-1. So I guess that makes that Thunder team the 3rd greatest team of all-time. NBA has always had super teams. Blame the NBA for not having enough superstar talent to fill every roster with multiple superstars. Maybe they should develop the D-League more.

    • Jordan Moananu , nah watch it again, Stephen A kept interrupting him before he could make his full point. What he said at the end made too much sense, hence Stephen A saying ur partially right. lebron is on record saying years from now one is gonna remember how you won the rings, it's just gonna matter that you won. Jalen said players are taking things into their hands in order to make sure the don't go down as great but ringless like sir charles.

    • He made perfect sense. Coaching and record and that other stuff doesn't matter. Lebron joined a 53 win team that had Wade with Bosh. Lebron didn't join the Knicks lmfao because they had no talent. Only talent matters, coaching is irrelevant when Bron is the coach. Durant did the same thing. Bron did the same thing. 73-9 record was inflated b/c the Thunder were up 3-1 against the greatest team of all time. So I guess it makes that Thunder team the 2nd or 3rd greatest team of all time.

      @mikerichards2317@mikerichards23175 жыл бұрын
    • Graylin Sapp , u can't make sense when some1 is consistently interrupting you. Once jalen came to the point he was trying to make, Stephen A had to admit he was partially right. Which he's 100% right if we remember history & lebron's own words. When on the subject of team hoping & superteams, lebron said years from now, no one is gonna remember how you won the rings, it's that you won. The media puts too much pressure on these guys to get a quick ring for validation.

  • Jalen is correct. It doesn't make sense that organizations are free to load up on talent, but it's frowned upon when players choose to do the same. It's also hypocritical that the media will hold something against a Barkley or Karl Malone for never winning a chip, but also hate when a player chooses to go to a team that will near guarantee them a chip so people can't say, "yeah they're really good, but never won.".

Guys are saying let me take less Money, go w a super team get my chip then go get paid so ppl leave me alone about NOT being a winner. Charles by media standards would be viewed differently if he has won a title. James has lost twice as much as he has won in the finals but most media make excuses for him and have him in the conversation as best over since he has a few titles. His record is 33%. Jalen is saying media brought this on themselves. You want ppl to remain loyal and stay where they are drafted but won’t give them proper respect until they win a title and claim they only care about money.

    • I think Jalen's point, which he did a terrible job of arguing, is that this is less a "super teams" conversation and more of a Kevin Durant conversation (and Demarcus Cousins who they BOTH overlooked) because of the move he pulled. A super team isn't just a team with 2-3 all stars because that's been happening all throughout NBA history. It's a team with at least 2 MVP-level players in their primes and at least 1-2 other all stars in their prime put together by the players themselves. When a GM does it, it's less on the player because he has no choice...but when a player does it, it looks like he doesn't want to compete or beat the best, which is Barkley's point. And I agree with that. That's what Jalen was trying to say.

    • Lol no doubt...but I do think Jalen made a good point towards the end. This is less a "super teams" conversation than it is a Kevin Durant (and Demarcus Cousins which they both overlooked...I don't know how) conversation. People have lost track about what a super team really is. IMO a super team is a team made up of AT LEAST two MVP-level players in their prime mixed in with at least 1-2 other all star-level players on the roster. It doesn't matter whether or a GM or players are responsible for constructing it. But when players are responsible, it just seems like they're taking the easy way out which is Barkley's point. And I agree with that...sorry if that sounds unfair to the players but I just think players should be wanting to beat each other NOT join each other to stack the decks.

    • Trevel The Critic actually he didn't, he contradicted himself. He is cool with LeBron joining 2 other top 10 NBA players to form a super team in Miami, but he isn't cool with Durant going to the Warriors to create one. No one thought the Warriors were a super team, that narrative changed when LeBron got his wig split in 5 games. I remember analysts on ESPN and Fox say that the Cavs were going to beat the Warriors because LeBron is so much better than Durant, Kyrie is better than Curry, Draymond is only good because he plays with the Warriors, and Klay is just a spot up shooter. Truth be told if LeBron was as great as he is hyped to be he wouldn't have gotten beat in 5 games that year. Also the narrative before Durant went to the Warriors is that the Warriors were lucky to win that first ring because if LeBron had Love and Kyrie they would have beaten them that year. A lot of revisionist history going on with these LeBron fan boys.

    • Percy Bedford The point is that Durant, argued by some as the best player in the league, joined the BEST TEAM IN THE LEAGUE. Forget about the fact that GSW didn’t end up getting the ring- EVERYBODY knew they were the best team in the league. Leading into that Finals, they were being discussed as possibly the greatest team ever, and that was before KD joined. You’re getting too hung up in the term “superteam”. Let’s just think about the teams that LeBron and KD went to. KD went to the team that was ALREADY the best team in the league AND the best regular season team EVER, without him!! How can that not be seen as the most uncompetitive, weak move ever?? Sure, maybe LeBron held that title at the time he went to Miami. But KD waaay outdid that. LeBron, Wade, and Bosh at very least had to learn how to play together. That team seriously struggled to learn how to be a team in their first season. There was none of that for KD. Could you imagine if MJ joined the Bird Celtics or the Bad Boy Pistons after losing to them in the Conference Finals? It would be seen as the most fucked-up, uncompetitive move ever! What KD did was no different. None of it ever had anything to do with him leaving OKC- I was glad he left them! But you can’t go to the best team in the damn league that kept their 5 or 6 best players, especially not when you’re a top-2 player in the league, and expect people to not be annoyed and disappointed...

Parker, at 23, was an unknown commodity. He was thought of as a system player at best, by almost everyone outside of the Spurs organization, at that time. Jordan and Pippen obviously, come the closest, but IMHO Pippen would have been no better than a second-tier All-Star, had he never been teamed with Jordan, and led by Phil Jackson. Having multiple players who were without a doubt considered, "The Guy" on their team just the year before with Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, and let's not forget, now DeMarcus Cousins, is simply unheard of in NBA history. And that's if we don't even mention, Thompson, Green, and a pretty good coach in Steve Kerr.

Let's not talk like they had a 73-9 season with no playoff success thereafter in the postseason. Again literally 3 mins away from a repeat if not for kyries unreal 3pt shot and the first 3-1 comeback in the finals we have EVER SEEN. So they (gsw) were WELL on the way to being a dynasty Kevin Durant or no Kevin Durant. The point Stephen A is making is very very valid. Creating a super team from scratch that has no experience together is so totally different than one legit superstar, top 2 or 3 AT WORST player in the dam WORLD joining a team that got 1 chip in the last two years of finals appearances fresh off a disks that everyone and their moms dam near said they should have won. And the Celtics was terribly bad example (all respect to jalen he's typically amazing) a) kyrie couldn't have known he was going there and b) No one knew or expected the Celtics to be that good, they were a surprise. To Stephen a's point primarily because no one knew how good tatum would turn out to be (though I called it personally lol). Point being kd knee exactly how good the warriors were, and how good they were in relation to the rest of the league prior to joining them, that's the reason he joined them, and he knew they would be crazy dominant with him as well. • Let this be a lesson to fans and players. Rings are not created equal. For example, Cousins will have a ring this year doing close to nothing. Should he be put over Barkley because he has a ring and Barkley doesnt? Lmao the Warriors won the title and no one outside of Warrior fans talked about it. We just went straight to the free agency talk. The real victim is Steph thanks to 2 of the softest stars (Durant, Cousins) jumping on his bandwagon and not allowing him to continue his 2016 dominance.

    • KD's rings in GS will never equal a Dirk ring. I can guarantee LBJ would say the Cleveland ring is his most important. KD isn't fulfilled; you can tell why he always acts out.

      @Cochise954@Cochise9545 жыл бұрын
    • marocain The difference between Steph and the other two you mentioned is Steph actually led a team to a championship (AS THE LEADER) the other two didn't. KD is obviously the second best player behind Bron so yeah Steph isn't KD overall in terms of skills but he has proven to be a better leader and his chips will be remembered as something he truly earned not to say KD hasn't got time to lead his own Championship teams and redeem himself because he has. I feel like people are closing the book on KD as if anything he does after GSW if he leaves doesn't count but at the same time neither Cousins (who I want to win a chip but not like this because he came from Kentucky) and KD has won a chip where we can say it's equal to Brons Cleveland chip or a Steph for example.

    • KD's rings will never equal Isiah Thomas' rings with the Pistons. He was a true competitor who got over the hump (Celtics) to win his. Totally agree with you with all rings not being equal. I feel as though the "experts" don't make that point enough.

    • No Lie I would have liked to see a Durant free GSW continue on to see how Steph would continue to handle the pressure along with the other guys. Its of course too much fire power with Durant there. KD definitely didn't really put himself in KOBE ( no one's in KB's league not even Bron Bron), or Lebron world, by doing the move. Great debate tho great points. But it was sort of out of Bron's playbook, KD's move, but like GSW already had a chip when he went over there. He may have to do like KOBE did with shaq and go and win some rings on his own,after GS to really be like in a real GOAT convo.

He can move wherever he wants now, win 5+ regular and finals MVP, any number of rings, he can be a HoF and a top 5-10 player in the history of NBA but it would be the softest HoF/Top player we have ever seen. Thats it.

  • Jalen has a point... While i HATE the decision that KD made. The Media AND fans created this issue and it started with the unfair judgement of Lebron. The media and fans began to invalidate LEGIT SUPERSTARS for not having rings in a way that the league had never seen before. Half of the Hall of fame doesn't have a ring and alot that do got one NOT being the best player on their team when they finally did. How much differently are Patrick Ewing, Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, judged if they were champs? Once it became all about winning a chip, players began doing whatever they needed to do to obtain championships. The argument that is made for MJ is ALWAYS 6 rings...So how can fans and media be upset with players chasing the ONE thing the masses judge their careers on. We created this version of the NBA by obsessing over rings instead of great basketball.

Just suck it up and work overtime in the summer like Kobe and wake up 4am every morning or work with your teammates in the offseason to do what you can to win If every superstar played solo on their own team and all of them worked their butt off. We would see the winner every year as the best player in the league and validated as a top player of all time.

I know Stephen A clearly understood Jalen, but Jalen just had no clue what Stephen A meant. Because he returned with comments that weren’t relevant to what Stephen A said. He commonly does this. Im not saying either one was right. Im just saying Stephen A was more competent. You can’t debate something if you can’t understand what the other person is saying to you. Stephen A could still have been stubborn and never backed down because he believed he was right, but at least he understood what was being said to him and answered back with relevant statements. Whether it was right or wrong barely matters unless you have to competent people speaking.

    • Cesar Gomez the question is easily answered by what I’ve already said, people really started watching it when the Celtics vs lakers through the 70s-80s happened, it exploded in popularity with MJ and the bulls and has gone global since the likes of Kobe & Shaq, Miami Heat and Warriors. Superteams are good for the fact we, the consumer, want to see epic and amazing dominant teams destroy the league. The only bad thing about them, is if they never have REAL competition. Do you honestly think people would consistently watch ALL the NBA games if every team was balanced? Would the finals get it’s highest ratings ever? No. Superteams are GOOD if they can eventually be defeated by an underdog or unlikely team. It’s the David and Goliath storyline that EVERY sport and entertainment production LOVES because people love seeing that story! Whether SAS and Jalen understand each other or the actual question is irrelevant, the question got answered looooooong time ago, if you don’t know the answer, you haven’t watched it enough or simply just don’t understand yourself
