Eckhart Tolle is a spiritual teacher and best-selling author. He is a German-born resident of Canada best known as the author of The Power of Now and A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose. In 2008, The New York Times called Tolle, "the most popular spiritual author in the United States." In 2011, he was listed by Watkins Review as the most spiritually influential person in the world. Tolle does not identify with any specific religion, but he has been influenced by a wide range of spiritual works.
This audio comes from Eckhart Tolle's podcast with Russell Brand.

  • “The beginning of freedom is the realization that you are not “the thinker.” The moment you start watching the thinker, a higher level of consciousness becomes activated. You then begin to realize that there is a vast realm of intelligence beyond thought, that thought is only a tiny aspect of that intelligence. You also realize that all the things that truly matter - beauty, love, creativity, joy, inner peace - arise from beyond the mind. You begin to awaken.” - Eckhart Tolle. Probably my favorite quote of all time. If you enjoyed this video and want to help create more, please consider supporting After Skool on Patreon. Thank you! www.patreon.com/AfterSkool

Well that's our dreams and intentions. All in the now right. Without an arrow of time. Say like entropy.... Then you do have something other than "it's always now" cheap parlour trick. Who's now is it. Mine or yours? And those dreams who's will come true. Now is about being present, it doesn't mean tmr doesn't exist in our minds.

    • Once you realise that you are not your own worst enemy the next step is the realisation that you are actually your own best friend, acceptance is key, then you are free, you are no longer Ill as ego is no longer the driving force in your life, however, it remains dormant, ready to rare its ugly head once again, its up to the aware self to indentify with the thoughts that make us slip into the void and go nope not this time buddy, your ego is slayed. Why is this stuff not legal and thereafter promoted? A, I think its because the Ego is in control, well, it thinks its in control but it will never truly be able to claim itself, resistence is always there. We are truly witnessing heaven and hell on earth, its not a place you go to, its a place you are already living, its up to you not me 👌

      @MultiHeywatsup@MultiHeywatsup3 жыл бұрын
    • @@securedparty4303 You don't have to. Authenticity comes spontaneously, you don't have to think about it. What actually usually happens is that the ego represses authenticity by overthinking. A good way around it is to use the 3 second rule. When you want to do something, do it right way, otherwise the mind after about 3 seconds will start questioning it in so many ways that you'll probably give up doing it. It's worth noting that both authenticity and subconscious impulses can come spontaneously. The difference is that one comes from your innermost wishes and desires and the other from your compulsions. Watch "how to reprogram your mind", by Dr. Bruce Lipton here on this same channel to learn more about that matter. But anyway I wouldn't recommend trying to figure out if every spontaneity is an authenticity or a compulsion, it's better to use the 3 second rule anyway, especially for shy and reserved people. You'll learn to recognize which is which by practice. Peace 🙏

  • When I was in 6th grade, I had an english assignment to write the thoughts of a character in a book. I was perplexed because the thoughts in my head weren't words. When I put myself in the characters position, I felt and I planned actions, not a word in my mind. The teacher and my parents gave me a hard time and that is when the negitivive narrative in my head started. Wasn't until I was about 24 that I realized I am not my thoughts and I am not my emotions. I had narcissism but instead of a positive image of myself I saw only flaws. I wish there was a word for that.

  • I think part of the identity process hinges on the dichotomy of our reality. As in the scenario with everyone having the same Rolls Royce, you need something contrary to what you are currently experiencing as "self" to compare it to. It is the key to experience. Every coin has two sides. If there is an "up" there must be a "down". They define each other just like "left and right", "hot and cold", "light and dark" and anything else we could possibly experience. So the ego is always forced to choose what our experience means to us. It is easy to get lost in our experiences as if we have no control but when we step back and "think about the thinker" and remain aware of the process that is taking place, we can gain great understanding and eliminate much of the suffering in our lives.

  • The ego is FAKE superiority. Thats super important. I think it’s more that you judge others and yourself and fall into false patterns of thinking-I always say that you should not make others into you, nor you into others. That’s ego in a nutshell. Posessions can define you authentically too-it’s the inauthentic that’s harmful because it gets in the way of the real you. Your real worth and soul. Anyway this was stimulating and I loved this so much! We just need to be clear. The definition of “superior” completely changes when you get beyond ego. It doesn’t cease to exist. Some people are better at some things than others, for example. Are you superior for you, or for others? That’s a very important question to figure out. Also, why is a bee hive so amazingly beautiful and intelligent? 🤷‍♀️👍🏻👁️❤️‍🔥

Otherwise , you'd be there standing around, staring at everything like a ghost, which is not bad, but one needs the ego to engage in life.

  • I had an horrible egodeath experience on Acid when I was so dump to smoke weed on the peak. It was shocking but somehow I needed to get it - because I was very depressed at that time and thought a lot about suicide. A lot of really weird shit happenend on it but in the end I‘ve got the message. I was with my 3 friends and suddenly it kicked in and I traveled through the universe in light speed. I came to a place where my „real friends“ (some alienlike persons but with the same character as my friends on earth) were talking to me that „I‘ve now finally understood what life really is. Finally! Also him woke up.“ They looked at me as if I‘ve been the only fool that didn’t get it the whole time: That everything down here is just a funny little game but „real life“ is somewhere outside of that. And therefore you can create everything here and everything you can imagine is possible here. After that I couldn’t control myself anymore and every 5min I was falling unconscious to travel through the space again. And it didn’t feel good. Later on when they brought me to bed I felt like I’m now trapped in a time loop because nothing changed anymore for hours that felt like days. I was feeling a lot of pain from all that struggle and the believe that this loop might go for ever on and I‘ve really fucked up. The pain was increasing from loop to loop and finally I got the message that the only way to get rid of *the pain* is to „let it go“. I was fighting with that idea because letting „it“ go meant the rest of life that was still in me. Finally after hours of pain I did it because there was no other way out of it. So i let it go and I felt like „Ok that’s it. I‘m dead. Doesn’t feel that bad, but it’s also sad that I didn’t lived my more on earth. But anyways I‘m already really excited in which body I will be reborn now. I hope it’s not a bad one!“ Long Story short: I woke up in my own body again. In the real world. First I was shocked because I really believed that it was finally over. After that I felt so happy to be back again in my body and in my life. I appreciate the gifts that I got for living my life now way more than before. In the end that was one lesson of many to cure my depression.

  • Wow, what a brilliant man. I can attest and relate to all of this so well. I've been recovering from a TBI, & I've really had to practice all of this, to let go of the 'self' so I can heal, and be present to work towards a new life. Trauma is so strange, and much of it is attached to the idea of the self, but some of it gets trapped in the body. They say the brain stores memory, the body stores emotion. While you can disconnect from both in meditation, it is important to make both those parts as healthy and strong as possible because they effect your experience of life in a body no matter how 'mindful' or zen you are. I've done cognitive therapy, vision therapy, mental therapy, etc, and while it's all been important, nothing has helped and taught me like my journey of meditation and yoga has. Enjoy

    • Glad to hear you're improving as TBIs are no joke. Trauma definitely manifests physically and I can attest to that from the PTSD that was hanging around from my time with cancer. Yoga and meditation helped me work through when I couldn't see a psychologist. Good luck and take care with your recovery as you're doing fantastic :)

    • @@petite64 it's amazed me how much, PTSD/TBI's are above the majority of the medical field's understanding and on the flip side, how quick some claim to have all the answers. It's a mysterious thing that I am learning only I can best understand through bits and pieces I learn from others and through research. It's the most challenging thing I've been faced with. That's amazing to hear, while it's all been helpful, yoga and meditation have helped me in ways too that nothing else can. Finding yoga, & connecting with that community, has been the blessing out of all of this.

    • I've been doing similar work, but if I could make a suggestion: Don't think in terms of controlling your thoughts. As Eckhart might say, see them, recognize them for what they are, then let go of them. Give no resistance, but accept them and surrender to whatever the present moment has to offer. Trying to stop or control your thoughts is only waging war with your ego, and ironically the ego feeds off that energy. You may later find that you suppressed your ego rather than dissolved it, and it comes back around with a vengeance. When you accept what comes to you, recognize your thoughts but do not allow them to form your identity, then you can be truly free. I strongly recommend Eckhart's book The Power of Now, particularly the audiobook version which is read by him.

Treat everyone as you would like to be treated, however if you are mistreated or taken advantage of, remember your ego. It exists for a reason, and that is to keep you alive.
