Any chat show with Ricky Gervais on is hilarious
i feel the same too, been finding every episode that has him in it
Absolutely
@@blupatches3030 Ricky just seems to effortlessly get the best out of the other guests
It's funny having watched an interview with Graham where he was asked how to get the best out of interviewees where he referenced this episode specifically, saying something along the lines of "Kevin Costner isn't interested in impressing me, but he's interested in impressing Helen Mirren." And that's how a great interviewer works.
It’s doesn’t really matter how good Kevin Costner is… Waterworld.
There is no other celebrity interview show as interesting as Graham Norton!!! So good!!!!
As someone living in the US - this is the best talk show by far ! And in general UK comedy is just miles above the prudish stuff they serve on US TV
Or the childish, krude or boring stuff we get in Germany.
Yes I have to agree. British comedy is so raw uncut and entertaining. No such thing as holding back but they do it without being offensive
Could not agree more!!
As Ricky put it: "If this were America we'd be disguised as wolves dancing around...or doing some other shit" That's probably why you won't see Costner on those shows. Or at least not very often.
Agreed
In that scene of "Eye in the sky", it took just ONE glance from Alan Rickman, and the mood is set 100%... He was one of the greatest in history...
I love how they all listen so carefully when Kevin spoke
Yes! Also, I love when he reveals that his friend wrote dances with wolves that all of them are like: wow! that's amazing. Look at Ricky sitting at the tip of the couch really listening.
perdm91 they were enthralled by the storyteller telling the story. He held them, and us, enthralled. Which is a kind of magic all it’s own.
cause they know hes a legend
That shows they're all great. They were instinctively putting his at ease.
Yes ! Kevin has such immense depth and charisma it is obvious why he became immensely successful ,
Man, Eric Bana is so easy on the eyes.... great couch guests!!! cheers
I love how Helen was like I wanna be in fast and furious and they made it happen
I loved when she said you don't need to act when you do fast and furious haha
juan carlos barrameda I know lmao kinda true though isn’t it haha
I love Ricky. He's one of my favourite people in the world; Graham is such a good host too
same
True. Garaham does seem to get the best out of his guests maybe because he's very personable ,witty and honest. Doesn't come across as fake
I'm Aussie and remember Eric Bana well from his days as a comic on Australian T.V and what a funny bloke. I lived in the U.K during the 70's and remember well the comics of the time eg the 2 ronnies and many others and IMHO Ricky Gervaise is 1 of the best of the next generations of British/English comics.
Also he is devilishly handsome
You should try and find a copy of The Castle very funny assie flick
I love how attentive the panel are to Kevin Costner's Dances with wolves story , so respectful.
Kevin is a great storyteller. Gervais is a great counterweight to all the Hollywood heavyweights. Dame Miren is so elegant and lovely. Hearing Bana speak reveals his awesome acting talent with accents. Ewan is a super charming guy. This talk show format is the best in the world. No pre-packaged artifice like you see on American talk shows.
Hear, hear!
I adore GN's show. Best in the universe. Carson had it for decades and to me the mantle is passed to Graham. Wish it to never end.
YES!
I agree. This is by far. The best talk show. The stars are so relaxed.
The pre-package format is not just US talk shows. Graham is an anomaly.
Eric Bana is such a class
Act?
Eric Bana is such a gorgeous man and great actor.
Michael S true
I cant stop looking at him. He is so lovely!!!! Yummy!
Tall drink of water.
I thought he was American
He can play so many different parts from The Castle, The Hulk to Black Hawk Down
This is one hell of a couch... and Graham's jacket is to die for!
the gay 90's called..they heard a 90's gay sentence was stolen from their gay time period.
I'm a real fan of Graham's style choices as well. He seems like such a cool guy, so comfortable in his own skin.
you can't drink and drive. Ricky Gervais. This genius funny bastard.

ricky gervais is the best. hes the only one on the couch that could make kevin costner laugh 😂
Eric Bana does a great American accent! I had no idea he was Australian. I was blown away when he started talking.
And do you know that he is Croatian Aussi with full and real surname Banadinović?...He is Bana only for his acting world....
He calls himself Croatian
Well he is actually as much German as Croatian. Unless you don't count his mother.

I had no idea either. It's been like decades of seeing him in movies and never suspecting.
Ricky loves Kevin, he was actually on the edge of his seat at one point.
I love how Kevin can make a comedian like Ricky Gervais laugh out loud. I wish to see the two of them together in a movie or maybe in another chat show and they’d just make the audience laugh.
@@archieleach6071 more impressively than that is Kevin can capture his attention and keep him utterly silent. I adore Ricky and love to see a hero of mine genuinely interested in another person’s work and story, it tells you a lot about them.
They put the very shy Kevin Costner at ease, and it became plain beautiful with his stories. Showed how humble and truly kind he is.
It gave me a much greater appreciation of Kevin Costner. Awesome to see how they were all hanging on his lips. I know for a fact he really impressed Ricky Gervais which isn't an easy thing to do.
I was surprised at how uncomfortable & shy he was. Lovely!
It showed how Graham puts the most shy at ease as Kevin started so shy and nervous but soon eased up and became relaxed
I love Ricky's humor, so witty! Spot on every time! He's a great entertainer.
omg i need to see all 10 episodes of him on the show hes amazing
Well, he's basically just a chilled out entertainer
true!
Helen Mirren great lady and beautiful
He's the best. He says what he thinks and I love the way he just seems to enjoy life
And watching 2 years later I've gotten 4 top movie recommendations! This show is absolute gold! Replace ALLLL the US Late Shows with Graham Norton!
And then that story about Dances w/ Wolves...WTF?! Amazing!
I added heaps of movies to my list as well. Eye in the sky was amazing
Same i added to my list
Ewan is SO HANDSOME. I have, literally, had a MAD CRUSH on him for YEARS now.

And so sweet
He is over shadowed by the aussie here
Ok
@@waternineeightlotus2869 Yeah, I know it's ok. No one even has to agree or approve, it's just my own opinion.
Look at the way everyone on the couch are looking at him while he's telling his story, genuine interest. Fantastic.
Obvious respect
This is what a talk show should be like in America! Absolutely brilliant combination of hosts and stories. Kevin Costner’s story about the story/script for Dances with Wolves was epic.
Kevin Costner. So humble. So much honesty. So much humor. So much class. What a storyteller. We, along with those on the couch and in the audience, were all spellbound as he wove his stories from a life truly lived. What a gift. And I don’t care what anyone says, I will always love Waterworld.
The Ulysees Cut of Waterworld is fantastic.
i love him
hes a legend
really can tell stories
Thank you! WW one of my favourites.
I like how Kevin just took over the room with stories
This is a great show on an ordinary day, but the talent on the couch here is incredible...
The Dances with Wolves story was a masterclass.
While I adore all of Graham Norton's shows this has to be one of my all time favorites because Kevin Costner was magnificent. I could have just listened to him telling stories for hours. And with Ricky, Ewan, Helen and Eric on the sofa made it even more special. It was just a fantastic show from beginning to end. I wish this had been a 2 hour special. Hopefully Graham will have Kevin Costner back again.
I can watch Kevin Costner for hours. He is still so dreamy. I think even Ricky was crushing on him a bit. Kevin is just a nice all around guy. Love his movies.
lol i think ricky was crushing a bit. can't blame him tho, costner is a great actor and after seeing this episode, a cool dude too.
Got a bit rambley about those wolves.
He is a true guy, and knows psychology that's it
…all ‘round’ guy!
he really is amazing and hes such a sweet guy
kevin is such a kind human beautiful soul bless u
Eric Bana you’re an angel. I love how they get along.
Tall English guy
Ive never seen others so captivated by 1 actor. This is really a special episode.
😢too bad his head got sooooooo big here in 2023...
I have always admired Kevin Costner and his body of work, but now after seeing this, I have a real genuine man crush on him! What a charismatic brilliant wonderfully surprising beaut bloke with an amazing list of edge of the seat stories! A pure pleasure to watch this - well done all concerned!
This was definitely one of the best ones ever. What struck me was the picture in my mind of Kevin Costner already nervous, directing his crew on day one with his mum and dad sitting on a nearby hill watching and waving at him. He actually has a sense of humor though obviously quite shy. Also Clint Eastwood was quite early directing his own movies.
just watched the full show again
I loooove they way Ricky laughs. Its seriously contagious how he doesnt hold back! Love his spirit
Kostner: I got a call from Stephen Hawking. Gervais: How did you know it was him? Hilarious! XD
TheLegendaryDoc I got this video in my notifications the day Stephen hawking died
It’s Costner dimwit
@Margaret Gust That's the whole point of his humour. It's meant to be dry and harsh, and it IS a conversation, not just a story. If there was no back and forth, the show wouldn't be anywhere near as funny.
@Margaret Gust He's a comedian. That's what a comedian does, nothing to do with ego.
Caroline Lowe ... Three words, Nasty comment...and you even had to edit it. My word, so you’re a mean spirited person who has trouble putting 3 words in the correct order. Look at yourself in the mirror, do you see a mean person? Because that’s how you’re portraying yourself. What’s the point in saying what you did? Explain it because I really would like to know. The world is full of mean types, I usually ignore them, just this once I want to know why.
I love Mr. Eric Bana 😍
A lovely mix of accents
Kevin Costner was so uncomfortable on the show and not just Graham, but the other guests made him so welcome... loved it
Kevin Costner is one of those Hollywood actors that is just so down to Earth, he is not full of himself, and he is, to me, a role model for people like Keanu Reeves. Keanu Reeves is someone who is genuine, and genuinely interested in people more than his Hollywood personae. People like Keanu, and Kevin Costner, while worthwhile actors, are more content on being behind the scenes, rather than in the limelight. Kevin and Keanu are two actors that I admire.
Today's couch was like group therapy. What a fabulous one! Kevin no doubt was the hero.
DearMake -- Today's couch was Superstar Central!
I’ve never been a fan of Costner’s, he hasn’t much range. I mean, Robin Hood was supposed to have been from Nottingham in England, not Iowa. Every character I’ve seen him in, it was the same delivery.
@@brianb.1883 so he can't do accents. Is that what you're saying?
It’s a bit more than that, Umair, like cadence and infection. He’s supposed to be one of the elite actors in Hollywood, but he’s always the guy in Field of Dreams. Even in Waterwold, I kept expecting him to beach the catamaran to tend his cornfield, or throw a baseball to a ghost, or befriend Native Americans, or patrol the dirt streets of Tombstone. He’s the same guy in every movie.
Infection = inflection
New respect for Kevin Costner, he had some good stories...
Ricky has the best laugh lol
Everyone has a glass of water, except Ricky.. he has a beer! Hahaha! Legend!
Ricky Gervais is a genius. I love his work. Derek was amazing.
Helen Mirren looks so amazing and shes 71!!!!

She is so beautiful! Liam Neeson was a lucky man!

Alan Rickman.....What a tremendous loss :(
I know, I still can't believe it really. One of my favourites...great actor, could play a range of roles. Always feel sad when I see him...
Lol literally what are you talking about they aren’t on this show
Exactly. I first saw him in Die Hard and that amazing voice struck a chord forever after. I'm so glad he had such a successful career. Such a great loss to the world of entertainment.😪
@@kfbell11 You obviously did not notice that Graham had his pic on the screen because he was in Dame Helen's latest movie! Alan was their topic for discussion for several minutes!
@@gideonharris1493 Yes, his voice was specia. I only need to think of him and I can hear his voive in my head. I especially loved him as Colonel Brandon in Sense and Sensibility.
One of my favorite movies of all time is "Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves." Hilarious and full of GREAT actors! Alan Rickman, Morgan Freeman & Kevin Costner....A purely musical trio!
Sacheen Lake.... Are you serious. An American Robin Hood, and a black American Little John. It was Shit.
@@brianwilson3952 it was great.
@@brianwilson3952 weirdley enough it actually is a great movie! Don't get hung up on the American accent, that's just bruised British ego talking. The story telling is really well done.
@@jwvandegronden IMO, Alan Rickman was the best thing in the movie. Costner looked out of place, Morgan Freeman looked slightly embarrassed. Sean Connery as the king at the end was a terrific twist ending.
I heard Ricky Gervais saying that before the show Kevin Costner told him he was nervous and felt uneasy about appearing on the show. Maybe he is not used to this sort of talk shows as they don't have many of that calibre in the US. True. But the moment he goes out there he just flows after a bit of a shaky start. Dances with the wolves is a legend. in a way he was a pioneer as not too many people had done producing and acting a main character at same time...at that time . Now it is a common thing.. I remember when Whitney Houston died him being so genuinely broken and made himself available to all who looked for him to share stories with her and their closeness. And when he had the call from Hawkins and felt starstruck himself and had no clue how to talk to this man. and what to talk about. Hawkins really did show up at Costner's front door and wanted to hear Kevin talk about Whitney. I remember watching on TV in my house in America. Kevin Costner is a legend. Please stop talking sh.. about the man....
Vassilena Duleva There are many stories of Kevin Costner's acts of kindness to others, including making his plane available to in time of crisis.
Costner's nervousness is understandable. American talk shows aren't anything like Graham's. Guests usually come on one at a time and even when there's more than one guest at once they seldom speak to each other. Also, American talk shows are almost solely vehicles for hyping each guest's latest project. While Graham does that also, it's not the sole focus of the show. Graham seems to really care about getting to know something about his guests. Costner was probably worried about how to handle the differences. But by the end, he seems to have relaxed and gone with the flow. Like Matt Damon said to Graham during his appearance: "This is the most fun I've ever had on a talk show."
None of that makes sense. You should check your meds dosage!
Vassilena Duleva it’s Hawking.
Moz MWhite everyone but you understood exactly what she said... so maybe you need to lay off the gin.
Hearing about Hawkings wanting to know about Whitney - one of the greatest scientists wanting to know about one of the greatest singers - that was cool :)
I only just caught at 30:19 that Kevin Costner mentions Chopper to Eric Bana... He really does know his movies and the other guests on the couch!! Bravo.
American here, and, I've watched "Chopper" several times on KZhead. You are correct. Took me a moment to understand, but because of Eric, I have watched Full Frontal, and with help from a few Aussie friends I have made on FB, I am now able to follow along quite well. Still learning, though.
that's awesome! other Australian film recommendations (if you haven't seen them yet): Head On, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Muriel's Wedding, The Castle and Cosi... ;)
Jessie Fitzgerald if you can, watch Gettin’ Square. Hilarious Aussie film
Cincin will look for it. And, Marcus Chan, Priscilla and Muriel are two favorite movies of mine. I very much want to see The Castle. Thank you, both for your recommendations. 😊
Aussie movies are greath
the balls convo cracks me up, eric bana sound like borat lol
I think one of the reasons Ricky Gervais is so likeable apart from his great humor is that he laughs so much of other people's jokes as well. Random example: 48:00
He's very nice. I've watched him with others actors & he always laughs the most at their jokes.
I'm so grateful to be able to watch this show in bits and pieces on my android phone. It doesn't even matter if I am familiar with the actors the show is hysterical. And they're all so relaxed and casual, very authentic. Great show.
That Dances with Wolves writer story is gold.
9:34 well she wasn't joking she went into the fast and furious franchise 😂😂
Wow an amazing couch of stars! Graham always has the best chats.
Ricky said it well. I love this show because they are just chatting. In US they would have to do some weird shit, weird games, that no one actually knows why are included in US talk shows. That's why I don't like US shows.
monikchomik7 I think this is also why Ricky seemed to always enjoy being on Craig Ferguson's the late late show.
Craig Ferguson was excellent though. He made a habit out of ripping apart the cars with questions for the guests at the beginning of the interviews and he barely even asked questions about the movies they were there to plug. He's a very funny man imo
its good to be able to choose from many things and formats huh?
monikchomik7 So true. All the damn games they have over there drives me crazy
It's funny because I said that very same thing earlier today to explain why I love the GN show over the US shows, and now I see you've said this here already!

WOW Obi won, The Incredible Hulk, Ricky Gervais and a Grand Dame who is one hell of an assassin (red and Red2)
Eric Bana is the most handsome man
For me Ricky gervais is the best comedian ever!!!
Love people with infectious smiles and laughs. Ricky and Ewan have it in spades. Love watching this show.
Ewan forgetting his lines in Star wars was hilarious the laughter is so good
Kevin Costner was nervous, poor thing. I liked him though-super honest and humble. That Meghan blew me away! She sang the whole thing live & it sounds no different than when on the radio. Bravo!
Not sure if you were being sarcastic about Meghan. She hid her mouth with microphone the whole time she sang. I'm 80% sure she was lip-synced. Unless Graham Norton has super duper great audio system. No breath no shaking caught.
@@budle89 You should watch meghan's carpool karaoke with James Corden. She has amazing breath control and a very clear tone when she sings. Yes she's using a backing track but im near certain she's not lip-synching.

34:30 -- The thing about Costner's excellent anecdote is: the punchline is - "That story was DANCES WITH WOLVES" -- and everyone is shockingly surprised -- but they were actually talking about DWW as he went into that story! But the STORY ITSELF was so engaging that everyone forgot it was connected with DWW!
The Dances with Wolves story... Lovely!
Kevin Costner's story about Michael Blake writing "Dances With Wolves" was amazing.
Trouble is he didn't write it. The book was written by a Canadian - Farley Mowat who got no credit here whatsoever.
@@gastonlaberge2119 sorry, not the same…Farley Mowat wrote “Never Cry Wolf”. Completely different.
@@gastonlaberge2119 Very wrong! Michael Blake was asked by Costner to adapt his award winning novel Dances with Wolves to a screenplay!
Ricky has a good point in the end, this is how chat shows used to be where they actually had real conversations and not banal chitchats and trying to plug their new movie every 5 seconds...
why does it look like he is looking for clues? his eyes keep darting to the left - that's rather unusual for him, he looks either at his convo partner or in his glass ... *shrug
Ricky's response to Kevin's description of Criminal "I love it already" that's because Karl came up with it years ago. The love of two brains, or the romance in a head.

Wow s h e is good actress, had us all fooled!

She's the real queen.
I remember Helen Mirren from a little ol' movie from back in the day called "Excalibur" also starring one Captain Picard as a noble trying to pull Excalibur out of the stone, and Gabriel Byrne, and even Liam Neeson.
She is gorgeous - decided not to have children - intelligent to boot & bc of that has a stunning figure.

Ok, i'll watch it. You seen Chopper?
One of my most favourite episodes of Graham Norton. EVER
Eric Baner!! Beautiful specimens!!
I used to dislike Kevin Costner, but I was really impressed with this interview.
@Willa-jane's opinion I like him, but I do think its odd that he was so 'close' with extremely famous people - yet this never came out until after they died... Whitney Houston (yes, I know they did The Bodyguard together - but I never thought he would be the only one she would call to discuss her troubles - both personal and professional) Princess Diana, etc... I'm calling BS on those 'friendships' that only came to light after they were gone.
Jewel Skye he never said he was close to whitney, her family asked him to speak he didn't even want to do it, and as for Diana no one knew about it until Diana's butler revealed it in his book recently and Kevin only talks about it if asked
As if the couch wasn't full of star power already....KEVIN KOSTNER!
