    • Does anyone use the style of the language that we saw here? Just curious as to why an online translator would do it in a form of the language that's alien even to people who speak that language.

    • @@lost4eva081980 Google trains the translator AI on whatever text they can find. For some more obscure languages, this could mean they just dumped a bunch of text from scanned books into the AI training database. For all we know, they could have had the Tamil translation of Shakespeare in the training database.

    • @@lost4eva081980 Written Tamil is more formal than spoken Tamil. Written Tamil is spoken by news hosts or sung in songs (rarely). Actual spoken Tamil can have different words compared to written depending on the slang and accents.

    • Lol yup! Like with cooking you can usually eyeball it, if you know the recipe well enough, but... you HAVE to be as precise AS POSSIBLE with baking! Everything has to be absolutely perfect or everything goes wrong it’s very stressful lmao Especially with things like meringues? Omg those are difficult lol And the air has to be the right temperature too so that’s always annoying

    • Yes definitely need to change the keyboard language, I think the problem might be is that Arabic language is written from right to left and the letters are combined unlike other languages the opposite way and each letter is written separately which made it very difficult to read.

    • @@therealduelist8397 Linguist has two meanings - one is a person who can speak/is good at learning languages, one is a person who studies language (the field of linguistics). Sounds like you might have done some form of linguistics (anthropology and social linguistics are overlapping fields)

    • But Labib doesn't speak Hindi. He speaks Urdu, he's from Pakistan. I'm sure they aren't exactly reading what we're seeing on the screen. The script Labib's reading should be in Nastaliq style of Arabic script.

  • There's a problem with the editing. Arabic is supposed to be from right to left and the letters are connected with eachother. This edit is showing the Arabic language from left to right with separate letters, I think this is why Jasser was confused

    • I think French is the strongest language on Google Translate also so it is the language it gets correct the most when translating from English.

  • My native Faroese cannot be translated with machines as of yet. If I got a recipe in Danish, Norwegian or Swedish, it would probably be fine. But if I got it in Icelandic or German it would be a challenge

    • urdu and hindi are essentially the same language ...same grammar,same words,but with few added different words...urdu has added persian words and hindi has added sanskrit words but they are very similar and only thing that differs is the scripts...urdu is written in persian script and hindi in devnagri script...
