The th11 update just shows how quick people are to bandwagon onto a hate train. Years down the line, things have completely worked out and progression's been the easiest it's ever been after the th16 update. But as soon as people hear something that may be 2% detriment to progression, they completely freak out. As bad as things may be, sometimes, we just need to trust the dev team.

Similar thing is happening on this update. People are calling it P2W when the Progression for the ores is not nearly as bad as they are saying. Easiest way to max out is to rush which has always been optimal to maxing out.

To be fair supercell did legitimately do some goofs. They had to tweak some things before the game came to be similar to it’s current form. The loot drought was a very serious problem at the time, you could be in matchmaking for up to an hour at time before finding a base with any notable loot.

If you keep complaining how TH 15 was difficult, look at time when TH 11 was the highest TH. There's no super troops, no siege machines, no e-drag, nothing good for the offenses. 3-starring max TH 11 was near impossible back then.

@@darshans6321It's likely because the defenses in th15 are complex, and so are the attacks. E-drags or SA blimp hydra are the only options for an easy 2 star. If you want a triple you have to opt for multi-phased attacks like qc, sui hero, or skelly donut.

Valkyries 5 and witches with decent warden were op on release, but once people adapted and upgraded everything (and with several nerfs to skeletons and warden), farming was actually hard. I remember those times, had to go for 4k for farming with league bonus

no, you just had to know some strats, back then you actually achieved something with a beautiful hybrid or qc lalo. now you get maybe a bad 2 star but you can use only yetis and clones in order to get a triple.

@spectrum5079 As a th15 player, I have to disagree about edrag and sa blimb. The reason why people thought that these 2 strategies are not good for 3 star is because the one who used these are usually lazy attacker or just not skilled enough. There's a guy who got into top 100 in legends league with edrags, and if you ever seen a tournament streamed on coc youtube, many pros used SA blimp with Sbarb and tripled bases. But yeah I agree on "it's easy to get a 2 star".

dead bases weren’t gone from the game, in-fact the change to matchmaking made one of the best hidden strategies of all time. Overnight you’d see people drop and below 800 cups was only stacked bases that hadn’t been raided in years

Pre TH11 is when I first got into Clash. It was something that I didn't quite notice until way after it was gone but with many I'm glad they were implemented. The Eagle Artillery is one of my favorite defenses and the whole thing with the farming was much better though there are times I wish it was the old way. Though I was on break during the gold drought, its something that today I don't see happening due to the amount of ways to get recourses and the amount of recourses you'd get so its a definitely and improvement from back then.

As someone that experience the TH 11 Update on its launch date and why “it was considered” as the worst update ever : - They started to change how loot work , so it will go by % rather than by town Hall “sniping”. I am in for this change but the main problem was that the developers did not balance it well , causing a huge “problem” because there was no resources since the bonus was not there and the penalty of attacking a lower level town hall was higher - Oh and remember, you needed elixir to farm , so it was mainly Gold that you get. Not even bother to made other dark elixir troops cuz you gotta save them to keep upgrading heroes - Also TH 11 came and you needed to invest , and the Eagle Artillery as a defence was insane if you did not have max queen to deal with ir. - This also came during the holidays and Supercell probably did not do much to do a quick update to fix these problems , so yeah it was a huge pain to endure - Also this was a breaking point were Clash of Clans “lost popularity” , lost traction , and it seems that it lost its “prime and peak” because of one single update. - Personally for me , the TH 11 update push all the casual players away , and it pretty much “rewarded” those who gem everything.

The TH11 update was the end of the golden age of coc. Don't get me wrong I think the game is better today however it ended the versatility of the game. Remember when that brandon guy won something like 20k battles in one two week season or when that one guy climbed to titan league as a TH2? Also remember sub200 farming. War was interesting too. I recall war being interesting too. I remember the meta being top TH9 players two starring the TH10 bases where the TH10s would drop down and 3 star the TH9s. Then the next meta became engineered bases lowering war weights. The game couldn't stay that way forever, but it was certainly a golden age for clash.

@@Riyozsu Clan wars yea but CWL not so much. Hear me out on this. Arranges Wars were begged for from the very beginning. Since supercell didn’t give it, the community figured out how to arrange them themselves. Organizing these wars took a lot of planning, cooperation and praying 🤣. I feel like that brought the competitors closer together. When they finally gave us Clan wars, it seemed like all the major clans and players slowly faded away from the competitive scene. The back and fourth trash talking on twitter leading up to a spin, Hunting other clans (figuring out their spin time and war weight to match up with them without their knowledge. Modder clans were known for this 💀💀) and over all working together. Finally got what we wanted and simply pushing a button eliminated all of this lol.

Perhaps I wasn't clear on the point. The game is better today however in some aspects the game was better back then. War was more of a team effect as said below clans had to collaborate more. Also when mentioning the TH2 in titans it was certainly an exploit, but it made the game interesting similar to how exploits make speedrunning interesting. It was arguably the golden age because that time period was the peak of active users. I'll admit that was partly due to the age of the game, not to new not to old.

Remember doing one army for 1 and half hours? Spells took 3hrs anyway but were lowered a bit later to about 1h at lvl5 spell factory. That was already big reason why people sucked at this game for so long and without friendly challenges it made the need to learn new unbearable. Now just repeating what J. Allen Brack said at blizzcon 2014 - "you think you do but you don't" , regarding your nostalgia

@@fjaps do you not remember how bad the economy was when they removed farming bases and removed dead bases after 2 months? There was a solid 1-2 months where there was 0 loot in the economy, no dead bases, and farming bases were removed, it lead to the review bomb you saw in the video. I was actually one of the ones who review bombed lol. It's hard to explain how angry people were back then without being there. It was a lot of things that happened at once to destroy the Clash economy. Supercell has fixed the issue since, adding Loot recovery from being raided, adding the Treasury, adding more war loot and 100 other ways to get loot

This update made the game much more enjoyable if you’re new. The update encouraged people to stay at a rank where people of your town hall or higher are located. The easiest fix to not gaining enough loot from seal clubbing newer players was just to rant up to your level.

I had just started playing a bit before TH11 and I immediately wanted to get it as soon as possible. Of course, being quite new, I had no idea about all the development stuff and meta things at the time, i was just playing a game for fun. After i had taken quite a long break where i played maybe once every few weeks. (2017-20ish) i have my Town Hall 11 nearly maxed, (just short on DE) i am happy with my progress and i dont think i will upgrade to TH12 for quite a while.

My least favorite update of all time was the Builder Base update in May 2017. This new base was supposed to be this next big thing but 6.5 years have passed and it feels completely useless and nobody even bothers to upgrade it because what's the point? This update had so much hype and all it has done is be a waste for everyone.

The old th10 meta was to attack with GoWiPe and have lightning spell, which you'd need to drop as 3rd spell on the defending witch to kill her because that was how lightning worked back then it struck wider area if not used in that spell drop order or otherwise it couldn't kill the witch

I have a Th11 Base with very minimal Defences but all my resources, Camps, and unique items are or were maxed. Farming was different back then.. It was passvily fun to see a very mininmalistic base fully maxed. Right now because my base has low defence I get 3 Star -800K gold 8hr shield.. I pretty much come out negative if im not raiding anyone's bases.

What people are forgetting is the personal break timer was added during this update, and there were glitches with it, supercell dropped the update and went on vacation.... was nearly a week before the game was fixed.

The hero grind at th9 say, 6-7 years ago was the worst. It’s baby easy now though, but it was comparable to current th12 grind, it’s when the game gets serious.

See, I get why they did that. Yet, oldschool farming was really fun! I liked it a lot. Also the loot reduction. It makes sense- but it was annoying as hell. That was also the time when the "gold III gobarch" era ended. If you played back in the day, pretty much everyone who farmed was chilling in low gold attacking with goblins, archers and barbs only. Oh man... good old days.

2015 COC is hard to get loot! Because if you train army your elixir will be drop and more challenge is you need big loot elixir to upgrade your troop! But now they take out training army elixir! You can raid without any elixir unlike 2015 my base was completely zero elixir, dark E and Gold! I can not train troop or use hero!

Those that hated this update are probably the same people that hated the restriction of how many resources you could get from raid medals. The point of the game is to farm loot, namely by taking resources from others. Putting your TH outside the base just to get an easy shield seemed pointless and defeated the purpose of the game, same with buying large amounts of loot from the trader. The update worked out fine in the end, especially since progression became easier with each new TH.

I think the difference is that with raid medals, you still have to put effort into it. Instead of "doing less of A to make A easier", it's more like "putting your effort into B to make A easier".

Their service is horrible, i havent had as much of a horrible expirence in a support service as much as this one i got. 4 Days of waiting and keeping the updates to try and get my account unlocked, it was locked for suspicious activity. I went to chat with them and the support is just bots answering generic answers :3 I put 300$ on this game in past year and they cant verify their players who even put money, they really are a cash grab aswell because if u think about it u can just wait 3-4 years and gettin to th16 should be less time.. cuz if it doesnt.. well everyones ganna end up quitting because u dont wanna try get to th20 in 20 years .. Help :3

People who play clash royale KNOW what a bad update look like. Coc updates are often controversial but never BAD, for example the builder base rework people complained even tho it was just better.

I do admit that while Builder Base 2.0 is an improvement, it didn't exactly fix the biggest flaw I think it has. Everything is so expensive, and you only have 2 builders at most. Combine this with your only real way to get any resources is by getting strong wins on offense and defense, and it's agonizingly slow. At least in the home village, you can still walk away from a failed attack with a nice bit of loot.

That wasnt a thing of that update, it was something that was in the game from the start, I remember my dragon army costing 400K every time that I had to cook it
The th11 era also saw the transition from old school attacks like gowipe and valk spam to the emergence of modern strats including hybrid and pekka smash.
I actually hated the Eagle artillery and 3x damage to golems change the most
I hated it too but it adds to the strategy now. I try to take it out as fast as I can or avoid bases that have so deep where I can’t get to it.
I hate it even today more than monolith but in positive way 😅
Pre TH11 is when I first got into Clash. It was something that I didn't quite notice until way after it was gone but with many I'm glad they were implemented. The Eagle Artillery is one of my favorite defenses and the whole thing with the farming was much better though there are times I wish it was the old way. Though I was on break during the gold drought, its something that today I don't see happening due to the amount of ways to get recourses and the amount of recourses you'd get so its a definitely and improvement from back then.
I hated when they ended TH snipping back then. But now, when I look back, it was a good thing to do for larger interest and fun for the game.
As someone that experience the TH 11 Update on its launch date and why “it was considered” as the worst update ever : - They started to change how loot work , so it will go by % rather than by town Hall “sniping”. I am in for this change but the main problem was that the developers did not balance it well , causing a huge “problem” because there was no resources since the bonus was not there and the penalty of attacking a lower level town hall was higher - Oh and remember, you needed elixir to farm , so it was mainly Gold that you get. Not even bother to made other dark elixir troops cuz you gotta save them to keep upgrading heroes - Also TH 11 came and you needed to invest , and the Eagle Artillery as a defence was insane if you did not have max queen to deal with ir. - This also came during the holidays and Supercell probably did not do much to do a quick update to fix these problems , so yeah it was a huge pain to endure - Also this was a breaking point were Clash of Clans “lost popularity” , lost traction , and it seems that it lost its “prime and peak” because of one single update. - Personally for me , the TH 11 update push all the casual players away , and it pretty much “rewarded” those who gem everything.

The TH11 update was the end of the golden age of coc. Don't get me wrong I think the game is better today however it ended the versatility of the game. Remember when that brandon guy won something like 20k battles in one two week season or when that one guy climbed to titan league as a TH2? Also remember sub200 farming. War was interesting too. I recall war being interesting too. I remember the meta being top TH9 players two starring the TH10 bases where the TH10s would drop down and 3 star the TH9s. Then the next meta became engineered bases lowering war weights. The game couldn't stay that way forever, but it was certainly a golden age for clash.

That just showed how easy it was earlier. New content was always going to make the game more challenging for people. That's like saying the golden age of the sword ended because the guns were made. I think the golden ages were when clan wars and cwl were made.
@@Riyozsu Clan wars yea but CWL not so much. Hear me out on this. Arranges Wars were begged for from the very beginning. Since supercell didn’t give it, the community figured out how to arrange them themselves. Organizing these wars took a lot of planning, cooperation and praying 🤣. I feel like that brought the competitors closer together. When they finally gave us Clan wars, it seemed like all the major clans and players slowly faded away from the competitive scene. The back and fourth trash talking on twitter leading up to a spin, Hunting other clans (figuring out their spin time and war weight to match up with them without their knowledge. Modder clans were known for this 💀💀) and over all working together. Finally got what we wanted and simply pushing a button eliminated all of this lol.
Perhaps I wasn't clear on the point. The game is better today however in some aspects the game was better back then. War was more of a team effect as said below clans had to collaborate more. Also when mentioning the TH2 in titans it was certainly an exploit, but it made the game interesting similar to how exploits make speedrunning interesting. It was arguably the golden age because that time period was the peak of active users. I'll admit that was partly due to the age of the game, not to new not to old.
Remember doing one army for 1 and half hours? Spells took 3hrs anyway but were lowered a bit later to about 1h at lvl5 spell factory. That was already big reason why people sucked at this game for so long and without friendly challenges it made the need to learn new unbearable. Now just repeating what J. Allen Brack said at blizzcon 2014 - "you think you do but you don't" , regarding your nostalgia

@@fjaps do you not remember how bad the economy was when they removed farming bases and removed dead bases after 2 months? There was a solid 1-2 months where there was 0 loot in the economy, no dead bases, and farming bases were removed, it lead to the review bomb you saw in the video. I was actually one of the ones who review bombed lol. It's hard to explain how angry people were back then without being there. It was a lot of things that happened at once to destroy the Clash economy. Supercell has fixed the issue since, adding Loot recovery from being raided, adding the Treasury, adding more war loot and 100 other ways to get loot
This update made the game much more enjoyable if you’re new. The update encouraged people to stay at a rank where people of your town hall or higher are located. The easiest fix to not gaining enough loot from seal clubbing newer players was just to rant up to your level.

I havent heard a single opinion of this brain dead that makes any sense, his th15 video doesnt have any good point to call it the worst th, in fact, its one of my favourite ones and th11 wasnt considered bad at all, it changed a lot of the meta and erased boring strategies such as free town halls
I had just started playing a bit before TH11 and I immediately wanted to get it as soon as possible. Of course, being quite new, I had no idea about all the development stuff and meta things at the time, i was just playing a game for fun. After i had taken quite a long break where i played maybe once every few weeks. (2017-20ish) i have my Town Hall 11 nearly maxed, (just short on DE) i am happy with my progress and i dont think i will upgrade to TH12 for quite a while.
My least favorite update of all time was the Builder Base update in May 2017. This new base was supposed to be this next big thing but 6.5 years have passed and it feels completely useless and nobody even bothers to upgrade it because what's the point? This update had so much hype and all it has done is be a waste for everyone.
Like always, I understand why the community got upset, but oldschool farming was not healthy for the game
The old th10 meta was to attack with GoWiPe and have lightning spell, which you'd need to drop as 3rd spell on the defending witch to kill her because that was how lightning worked back then it struck wider area if not used in that spell drop order or otherwise it couldn't kill the witch

It made you grind more, a lot more, or pay the money to progress, lots of money, that was the intended reason for that change.
I have a Th11 Base with very minimal Defences but all my resources, Camps, and unique items are or were maxed. Farming was different back then.. It was passvily fun to see a very mininmalistic base fully maxed. Right now because my base has low defence I get 3 Star -800K gold 8hr shield.. I pretty much come out negative if im not raiding anyone's bases.
What people are forgetting is the personal break timer was added during this update, and there were glitches with it, supercell dropped the update and went on vacation.... was nearly a week before the game was fixed.
Old clash with th 10 being the last th was fun times. I love the updates that are being made now

@@Unsolved-sv9zw Yeah that’s why it’s the new th9. Both are overall pretty fun and balanced town halls offense wise. However they both had an awful grind. The hero grind at th9 say, 6-7 years ago was the worst. It’s baby easy now though, but it was comparable to current th12 grind, it’s when the game gets serious.

@hell1942 nope. Didnt regret it, it was quite boring during th11, progression was slow, a lot of my clan mate quit. I came back after the cwl update, it help progression a lot. I am th16 now.
Quit when th11 was max, just a newly upgraded th 10, came back just this clashoween. Gotta say, im quiet shocked about the auto upgrade. I came back to a maxxed th10 base. Now im th12 since i rushed it during hammer jam for the walls
u forgot to mention u had to stay online most of the time in order to farm loot which was tedious on top of that the limited play time that got removed

The worst one was making the town hall a resource building imo. Having to put the town hall inside means we had less walls for the rest of the important buildings.
See, I get why they did that. Yet, oldschool farming was really fun! I liked it a lot. Also the loot reduction. It makes sense- but it was annoying as hell. That was also the time when the "gold III gobarch" era ended. If you played back in the day, pretty much everyone who farmed was chilling in low gold attacking with goblins, archers and barbs only. Oh man... good old days.

I quit the game for 6 entire years because of that update. Supercell lost hundreds of thousands of players like me because of that stupid change. Easily the worst change they ever made and I still think they still should revert it to this day.
I remember when this update came out, the outrage was insane. And the economy was worse than I've ever seen in the games history. Many thought the game would die back then, but here we are 😂
What i hated the most is not allowing us to switch account easily and adding supercell id to it. Switching gmail was very convenient there was no need to remove it.
They literally have a button in game to let you easily swap your accounts. It's even more convenient.

2015 COC is hard to get loot! Because if you train army your elixir will be drop and more challenge is you need big loot elixir to upgrade your troop! But now they take out training army elixir! You can raid without any elixir unlike 2015 my base was completely zero elixir, dark E and Gold! I can not train troop or use hero!

Those that hated this update are probably the same people that hated the restriction of how many resources you could get from raid medals. The point of the game is to farm loot, namely by taking resources from others. Putting your TH outside the base just to get an easy shield seemed pointless and defeated the purpose of the game, same with buying large amounts of loot from the trader. The update worked out fine in the end, especially since progression became easier with each new TH.
I think the difference is that with raid medals, you still have to put effort into it. Instead of "doing less of A to make A easier", it's more like "putting your effort into B to make A easier".
Then you look today, TH11 is in my opinion, the most fun th ever made with all the new content it has compared to th10 and below. I remember rushing my lab in 2020 just to upgrade to th11
TH11 came out 8 years ago and I just upgraded to it like 3 days ago - I started playing COC when it first came out but this is just a reflection on how awful their customer retention is. Nice video! TH11 aesthetic wise is my fav and most likely will stay here for a LONG time

Many player of clash of clans now a days can't appreciate the easy-going of the game unlike the old days, its a hard to the bone, troops have cost, long training time, high building and troop cost, no potion and books at the time.

Took me a year to max my heroes at TH9. u guys dont know the struggle it took us after a hero hit Level 15 and it took a week for every upgrade. You guys have it easy.

Their service is horrible, i havent had as much of a horrible expirence in a support service as much as this one i got. 4 Days of waiting and keeping the updates to try and get my account unlocked, it was locked for suspicious activity. I went to chat with them and the support is just bots answering generic answers :3 I put 300$ on this game in past year and they cant verify their players who even put money, they really are a cash grab aswell because if u think about it u can just wait 3-4 years and gettin to th16 should be less time.. cuz if it doesnt.. well everyones ganna end up quitting because u dont wanna try get to th20 in 20 years .. Help :3

People who play clash royale KNOW what a bad update look like. Coc updates are often controversial but never BAD, for example the builder base rework people complained even tho it was just better.
I do admit that while Builder Base 2.0 is an improvement, it didn't exactly fix the biggest flaw I think it has. Everything is so expensive, and you only have 2 builders at most. Combine this with your only real way to get any resources is by getting strong wins on offense and defense, and it's agonizingly slow. At least in the home village, you can still walk away from a failed attack with a nice bit of loot.
