We face all bosses in Paper Mario: The Origami King (from the Vellumental Boss fights to the the final boss, King Olly, and the Stapler boss), except MARIO HAS ONLY 50 HP FOR EVERY FIGHT! Is it possible to beat every boss in Paper Mario: The Origami King and continue normal gameplay with only 50 HP? How can we survive the Ice Vellumental's Ice Maze? Or the Fire Vellumental's molten feathers? Or the Stapler's deadly attacks? Or the Rubber Band boss' solo snapback attack?

The hardest bosses in Paper Mario: The Origami King in this challenge are definitely Tape (16:53) and Stapler (33:05). Bosses are close in difficulty were the Rubber Band Boss/ The Elastic Entertainer (1:10), the Hole Punch Boss/ Disco Devil (7:40) and the Ice Vellumental Boss (11:01)
In this video, we fight every Paper Mario: The Origami King boss with Mario having only 50 HP to answer the question: can you beat every boss in Paper Mario: The Origami King with just 50 HP? We also have the extra restrictions of: no 1-up mushrooms, no battle accessories, no mushrooms for healing, and no cheering the toads for free heals/ items.
All of the bosses are not completed 100% in order: as an example, since the Stapler boss is much easier than King Olly for most people, we save the Stapler boss to the end. I started with the Elastic Entertainer boss to save some of the easier bosses for later in case I got discouraged from dying a lot.

2:20 How much is the damage variation between the rings because you did 36 damage there and you do less damage but how much damage you would do less in the 2nd ring?
@@rafaelpereiragomes1735 I'm pretty sure you 1 damage in the 3rd and 4th ring, but I can't remember exactly how much damage you do in the 2nd ring. I have a guide for defeating the Rubber Band boss that might have used an attack from the 2nd ring if you're interested!
@@ZXMany In 1:40 Of the video it did 16 damage, but in the 3rd ring. I didn't see Mario activate 1000 fold arms in the 2nd ring. Can you make a video that shows how much damage you do on every ring if you have time to do that? I know inner ring does 36 dmg.

Useful tip for Fire Vellumental: Molten Feathers will _never_ land on heart spaces.
Yeah, exactly! That's a big part of what makes this strategy so easy :) We experimented a bit more with this in my video where we look at if you can beat the fire vellumental boss without attacking it!

When you think about it, scissors is the easiest boss in this challenge. if you break the sheath immediately, he starts spamming final cut, but its the only truly dodgable attack in the game, so its possible to beat scissors without taking damage if you do that.
Yeah, some people have difficulty with dodging, so it can be a bit unforgiving, but it is possible to beat the boss without taking damage :) You can also beat Colored Pencils and King Olly without taking damage

You can also dodge the rubber band boss if you miss the block in the rubber bind attack next turn
Tip: With the Handaconda boss, the shape it's hand makes while you deal with the rings is supposed to be what it's "going" to choose, but instead if you pick what's strong against it, it'll pick what's strong against yours. for example, when I fought it, it made the scissors shape, so I knew it was going to choose paper instead, so I chose scissors. You can treat it like the handaconda is giving you tips on what to use (at least that was the case when I fought it)

I only beat stapler because of the one up mushroom so going back and doing the toad sparring was really hard
When I fought hole punch, I didn't even know how to avoid the super attack with the earth vellumental, but luckily I had enough to tank it with blocks, so I beat him unintendedly
I’ve been sort of doing this myself (except 70hp since you literally can’t skip the heart up in the earth v shrine) and it makes the whole game much harder and ups the replay value in my opinion

Wow, this is quite a unique challenge, I like it. I also have a video idea, how many holes can hole punch make in Mario? It would be interesting to see if there is a hard limit or if it varies depending on how much max hp you have. Also seeing it halve a high amount of hp would just be really neat.

2 jump attacks removes a total of 8 staples, but 1000 fold arms removes 10 staples and also does 50 damage. When the stapler is reloading, 1000 Fold Arms does 100 damage, but +1 x2 Legendary Boots does 198 damage.
For tape boss, notice when it uses roll out, it damages itself.

I could never beat a boss passed 75 hp much less 50
Yeah! I had a playthrough where I was rushing through the game and kept my HP pretty low (around 70-95) and I was struggling with bosses there! It was fun to do every boss at 50 as a challenge!
Oh and a question. Have you found any glitches in the game that has made speedrunnig alot easier

Fun fact, you can beat the folded thunder sumo without killing his kids, just use all of your iron boots, which you can buy legendary of, to slowly chip away at his health, I did this mostly because I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to murder the little ankle biters,
You make these bosses look easy When I play games I do decent though I do die a lot for example it took my like 8 tries to beat the rubber band boss I would mostly struggle on the end part where he swings back and forth and then I rage Now a days I can beat it easily
The more you do it, the easier it gets :) I struggled on a lot of bosses when I first tried them too. Some games are sooo good, and it is satisfying to get good at things after putting in some effort :D

I've got an idea challenge: Is it posible to beat PM:TOK bosses without 1k fold arms? Rules: Cannot use 1k fold arms except to finish the boss (Ex. You can only use 1k fold arms to throw rubber band but can't for damaging purpose) You can use healing item You can use vellumentals
That's a cool idea :) I think it can be done, if you're allowed to use the 1000-fold-arms on bosses that need it to be defeated, like phase 2 of rubber band, finishing phase 1 of rubber band, and the fire vellumental

That's such a funny idea 😂 There are a lot of parts of the game where there's dialogue that's similar to other parts but slightly different, so it would've been really cool to have a challenge mod where bosses can have different dialogue if you face them with different HP values!

Great idea! I think 50 HP will be close to the minimum required because you can't avoid the rubber band attack at the start of phase 2, and Stapler was a pretty close fight 😂

That's a really interesting idea! I think any% speedruns would try to do this and be as efficient as possible at this :) SRC has a section for Paper Mario: The Origami King, and some people have completed the whole game (any%) in about 7 hours
@@ZXMany Actually, if you tap the control stick for a split second and then put it back to neutral before Mario's foot hits the ground again, you move, but it doesn't count as a step. This would save a lot of steps, but it's certainly not making it into any speedruns.
@@epikitee2186 Oh my goodness, that's hilarious! I'll have to experiment with that. I'm not sure if the game counts footsteps until you get the footstep tracker that gives you coins because I have this value in a save game from a file that's early in the game: "footstep_count" : 0

For people struggling on the rubber band boss: if it's on low HP fire flowers can do a lot of damage and you don't have to use 1000 fold arms
I get why you hate the tape boss. I hate the boss because of the tape it leaves on the ring area. Once the tape stuck all four ring panels together, and I was just toast.

I don't understand your strategy for the elastic entertainer. I always find a way to walk on 3 bumper bands, get the on switch and the 1000-fold arms in the inner ring on the first turn.
Yeah, there's a way to get all of the rubber bands and the on switch and the 1000-fold-arm panel, and that's what you'd do in a speedrun, but I wasn't sure if I'd be able to get a heart every turn so I wanted to see if I could wear down the boss using a safe strategy (similar to what we do for the fire vellumental near the end in this challenge). When I noticed that I was getting lots of hearts, that's when I decided to go on the offensive instead of just playing it safe Hope that answers your question, thanks for the comment!

If you get stuck after some attacks tape will collect his tape on the battle flied (it's so that it's not impossible)

I beat the tape boss a few hours ago. I wouldn't call him "hard" cause I had a lot of health at that part, just SUPER annoying and long!
@@elephant35e Good job! Yeah, it's really RNG-dependent, it can go great or horribly, and a lot of it is based on luck. With other bosses, you can use the same strategy every time and it will always work if you do it right, but Tape is so luck-dependent D:

If you get tangled in one of Rubber Band's bands, on the next turn before they do a strong attack you can jump to dodge it.

You know how attack power increases with Max HP? I know that applies to weapons meaning jumps and hammers but does it apply to items like fire and ice flowers?
