Any one else remember all the hype and rumors around Spidey showing up in this movie?? then the ENTIRE first trailer dropped without a single appearance from him, and people got a little nervous. Then this bad boy came out, and everyone held their breath the whole trailer just with a hope. Then bam, last 5 seconds, there he is. Our new MCU Tom Holland Spider-Man. That sent the internet into pure excited chaos. Getting those same vibes with the new No Way Home Trailer. Marvel does it right.

i mean it helped, but this movie was coasting off the success of winter solider, and the MCU in general, so it would have been fine.
It introduced spiderman on a new way to de MCU. Besides if they were going to use the civil war title, spiderman was kinda needed. And well, the movie was awesome.
