“Eren’s mom would be sad” looking back and this is actually so so real… her beloved husband and cute little baby’s fates after her death were tragic
The story of the entire Jaeger family is pretty tragic.
Just a reminder that these AOT videos are amazing bro. You’re extremely skilled at breaking down scenes with complex details, hint & easter-eggs. Keep it up mate these videos will forever be relevant in the algorithm and they’re a great binge 🔥 good work my guy 🤘🏽 + great editing
🙇♂️🙇♂️
one my favorite youtube channels hands down
Agreed ^
Word
could not have said it better myself, absolutely love Koroto's videos, especially the AoT ones
Another thing about the epidemic that Grisha cured is that he's probably the reason the disease spread through Paradis. Since he came from Marley, he likely brought a bunch of germs the people of Paradis' immune systems weren't accustomed to.
Brilliancy! -> The "Perfect Health" of Titan Wielders is because they are un_human enough for it to be unable to "progress", but it also means any disease they may get simply "stays" with them potentially forever [they are also the perfect carriers]. . Because he was not exposed to anyone from Marley AFTER eating Jaeger, he only had some random, minor, "fever virus" he contracted while in the boat that brought them to Paradis Island. -> His later wife never contracted any serious S.T.D. because his previous wife was each other´s first love. . By sending young teenager Titans Wielders to Paradis, they managed to avoid spreading the more "lasting" types of infectious diseases. The exception to this are precisely those 2 who never physically interacted (at least with their real human bodies) with the rest of the ones who survived. -> The "troops" that provided logistic support to Zieke never breathe the same air than the people of Paradis who would continue to live. . By the time Eren saw the sea... it did not mattered anymore (since they would also be accessing all the technology & knowledge of medicine; possibly including vaccines).
This just makes it all the better that Carla died in episode 1. If Carla represents Eren's peaceful side and Grisha Eren's rageful side, then Carla's elimination represents Eren losing his inner peace forever. From the very start of the series, Eren was set to ruin or be ruined. We just didn't know immediately at what scale.
ereh had mommy issues from the start 😢
Shadis saying that his history was irrelevant to humanity to then proceed to do a lore dump reminds me of when your grandparents or father casually drops their personal lore that makes you connect the dots on previous family drama lmao
This comment is ridiculously specific and relatable at the same time, wtf?
I remember watching this first time and being blown away that we got such an amazing episode about such a minor character just watching the world happen around him. It made the AOT world feel more "real"
Glad they have him a Chad send off too
Agreed
“Sorry Boss. I can’t come in today i need to overanalyze attack on titan”
Bystander will always be one of the best episodes Attack on Titan has. Absolutely loved it, especially with the music in the end and the lovely tone.
True and real
The soundtrack all throughout AoT makes everything even more special. This episode in particular but also Memories from the future. I can no longer remember those moments without the music
Same, i think its the most underrated ep
Ive always thought that Grisha might have brought the plague with him to paradis lol
That’s actually a pretty interesting theory! But thinking about it makes me laugh too, dude tries to be the solution but just brings in more problems, basically the Jaegers in a nutshell 😂
That kinda sorta makes sense, but I don't think Paradis would've been isolated for long enough for there to be any sorta biological diversity (if you can call it that). Definitely an interesting way of thinking though 🤔
Carla's speech is one of the highlights of the series and it makes what happens next so much more tragic. Eren never let go of his dreams of grandeour and for that he became the enemy of humanity, forever trapped in an endless repetition of his live while being in the Founding. A bystander of his own story.
How is Eren bystander of his own story. When he himself wrote his story to accomplish his goals
@@IsikaEMhe wrote his own story to accomplish his goals and because of that he robbed himself the possibility of choosing otherwise, locking himself in a timeloop where he has to let his mother die time and time again. He's a slave to his own desires.
It doesn’t make it tragic. It makes it terrible. It ends with Eren giving up
@@ExpertContrarian he's a bystander precisely because he didn't give up.
@@angelamengualcortinas3614he did give up
I absolutely love the juxtaposition the new scouts provide us with the old scouts. Especially once S4 rolled around it's no coincidence that none of the old scouts, who actually dedicated their hearts to humanity, became Yeagerists.
Wdym no coincidence? It’s a story. Not real life.
@@ExpertContrarian The Yeagerists' ideology is the antithesis of the Scouts in almost every way. Isayama could've just made the old Scouts join the Yeagerists since it's "a story" but he didn't, not just because he didn't want them to but because it would make no sense considering everything that came before it.
@@maintrain527 no, the only reason he doesn’t have them join them is because he decided that they should be the bad guys which means the main cast cannot join them. Fighting for your life and for the rest of your people is not antithetical to the Scouts. Killing your own people and teaming up with the people that want to genocide your kind is antithetical to the scouts. What they decided to do makes no sense with the rest of the story. You literally have it backwards. You having such a bad take and media literacy is not very surprising know when you didn’t even understand the meaning of my comment.
@@maintrain527let him be. He's just an ending hater with the desire of expanding the braindead version of the themes they have. He has given me headaches all this morning.
@@angelamengualcortinas3614 I see. The name fits lmao
I love that other people in this world understand and appreciate the complexity of AOT.
Its not that complex
@@ExpertContrarianit's complex for me
@@ExpertContrarian still, It's more complex than 90% of stories out there
@@ExpertContrarian you'd be surprised how horribly people understand the themes of the show
@@mithvibes4727 not really
Shoutout to Keith for being a goated side character, they sent him off perfectly and can't wait to see you talk about that
one of my favorite AoT episode and "he is special because he was born in this world" will forever be one of my favorite quotes and you nailed the analysis man 🐐
3:11 this is where Armin learned how to do the trollface on Eren
We're almost at return to shiganshina and I can't wait.
These are the closest thing I’ll ever have to rewatching this series for the first time other than watching it with my girlfriend. These videos are the absolute best
A new day with a new episode of overanalyzing AOT is a good day.

Bystander is one of the best episodes in the entire series. A must watch after you finish the series. So much fantastic layered themes that get better the more you progress through the series. Carla's ending speech hit me so hard when I watched it back in 2018 and is still something that rings in my mind as something to always remember.
Mom wake up, Koroto posted!
Because of this overanalysis videos, it feels like revisiting the masterpiece again. Thank you so so much for making this videos. It's like reliving those memories. And yeah I too think Eren had a special bond with Historia. Not a romantic but... maybe one whom he could give his battle to fight...
This flashback is one of the chapters that Isayama personally likes because he believes his writing matured, and after all, who wouldn't agree? This chapter/episode intertwines and touches upon so many other details and themes that resonate throughout the rest of the series that the only sensible definition for it is a work of art. Especially considering that it deals with mundane storytelling, addressing ordinariness, and yet touches on themes like destiny, the value of life, the vanity of greatness, the tragic irony of this... damn, I'm left speechless and can only cry at how sublime it is every time I watch it. By the way, regarding Historia, I personally see her marriage to the farmer as a parallel to her father's story, who also loved someone of lower social class but couldn't marry because of it. Historia being able to do this ends up being a form of her emancipation and also explores the theme that children should not pay for the sins of their fathers.
Korotos, you entering the Return to Shiganshina Arc and breaking down every single episode building up to the boldest arc in fiction: Marley Arc is gonna be a feast.
I recently just read and watched Bystander, and it was SO good. I really like the way they gave depth to Shadis as a character and the theme they explored. I like the way he realizes that not everyone will be “special” in the way they hope to be, and how you won’t always or even might never succeed in what you strive for, at least not you yourself in every case, where others may succeed instead. The way he was compared to Erwin made me feel bad for Shadis And the way it comes back around to Eren and even Historia to me if they are necessarily “special” or just a vessel is cool. Historia believes she can be the true ruler of the walls and not just because she’s the last of the Reiss family to take over, but because she is willing to do the duty of a soldier for her people head on and help others, even if it was to show the people that she can fight too so they’ll follow her. Eren on the other hand begins to believe he isn’t special, but how he will do his part to carry out his duty and goal for humanity and his friends Honestly, Bystander is one of my favorite chapters and episodes I’ve seen and read so far in AOT. Loved your video btw. I love all your videos on AOT, you do a great job analyzing and make it so fun and entertaining to watch!
Can we just appreciate how much of an amazing voice actor Bryce papenbrook is
Do you guys ever think Isayama is watching these videos and is like, huh.. yeah thats a good point. I didnt think of that. Im joking ofc, Isayama has created peak fiction
"we move on with historia chasing a bunch of kids"
I never commented on one of these vids before but ive been watching for a while. I must say, you really are goated at this analyis shit. Even being one of those manga redditor guys, watching your earlier content prior to you even having the context if the shows ending. You still were able introduced me to perspectives on the show and ways analying certain charscter motivations that I had never considered prior. Here i thought i was an over invested media analysist for this show but youve humbled me well. Plus your context keeps getting better and comes out regularly, glad to have your presence around in the community.
Many thanks for the kind words! 🙇♂️🙇♂️
lunch made attack on titan retrospective out yea it’s all comin together
Regarding the Titan that is slowly crawling towards the wall. I have a theory. Marlians had absolutely no regard for Eldians in terms of age. You resisted, that's it, off to Paradis. My theory is that Titan in particular was an infant Eldian forcefully turned and flung into Paradis
Me over analyzing the over analysis I would say Grisha holding the attack titan for 15 years is a huge plot point. It demonstrates that shifters can infact live passed those 13 years but it's through the curse of humanity that those who know williningly let the cycle continue instead of trying to break it in fear of what could happen next. Cause even at the end of the series it's not the titans that are the destruction of Paradi but humanity alone. If we could see passed the fear humans and titans could've co inhabited the world but that is the curse humans live with
I love your aot overanalyzing videos. You are able to breake each episode down and explain importang details. Thumbs up
We Appreciate You 💕
Babe wake up, new AOT overanalyzed video just dropped.
One of my personal fav ep of AOT. Like how can you not be appreciative of Isayama's genius, with the literal ep1,2,3 callbacks. This, Levi's ep and many such little moments of S3P1 make me feel like it remains under-appreciated by a majority of people.
I love how thorough these videos are man! Loving all the little tidbits you throw in there that really make me appreciate the series even more than I did before. :)
The greatest thing on KZhead Literally one of the best 30 minutes of my week
You sir truly cooked for this episode.
This episode is just such a standout and I am not surprised that the manga chapter is one of Isayama's favorites. The scene with Keith and Carla in the anime when the credits are rolling during her speech - I have watched AOT I don't know how many times but I still get chills every single time.
For an episode that isn't necessary cool or funny or whatever on paper, this is still one of my all time favorite episodes of the show
Very true
I would add that Carla's inspiring line of being special because you were born into this world, can be one of the darkest in hindsight because that is what drives Eren into doing the horrible things he will be doing in the future.
Your wonderful editing just tied this all together so perfectly. Thank you for the meal!
I remember the first time I watched this episode and was so happy with how Carla was written. She has so little screen time but damn what a great mother
Man I started your OA AOT series maybe 2 months ago, and just realized you’re still dropping new ones. Perfect timing for my lunch break, keep it up!
Keith was a phenomenal character
Amazing as always Korotos. Your AoT series has made me appreciate it even more. Keep it up but don't burn yourself out.
God I love this series so much, thank you Koroto!
I love aot so much
Always excited for a new upload 😼
Regarding the curse of Ymir for Grisha, I don't think that is a plothole since he inherited his power in the year 832 add 13 years and that equals 845 his time limit to pass it to Eren.
Eren's mom Carla makes one of the most beautiful statements in the whole series
Amazing video as always re reminded me why I loved this episode so much when I first watched it
Just wanna say I'm obsessed with these videos! Your analysis is clear and spot on! Great work 😎 Always a good day when there's a new upload!
I look forward to these videos man keep up the good work
I've been tuning in since i found your AOT explained series last year and I love the videos❤. My favorite parts are you adding and discussing the AOT memes. There is nothing funnier than hearing the "it was all future erens plan" 😂 at 15:10 .
I love you genuinely bro your work is amazing
Were all bystanders to your talent
Small detail in the intro to season 1, when eren is jumping at the colossal titan, the colossal actually does the same side eye that Bertholdt always does
Koroto has the best analysis videos I've seen of most series. Dude has a good eye.
Been waiting to fully dive into this breakdown. You really nailed it on the meaning behind Bystander. AoT is a show that sadly feels more relevant everyday. Our value are tied so much to be THE Main Character that we only see our side of the fight. This is one of my top 10 AoT episodes with my favorite speech (from Carla).
I've been so excited for the next one!
I was so happy to be on my lunch break to watch this!
Me toooooooo! Flocks hair looks dumb! I’m glad I’m not the only one that thought that 😆
I think the over arcing point of the Attack on Titan ends up being hope. Everything, every painful loss, every horrible disaster always heralds a sense of hope for a brighter future. The failed mission to catch Female Titan carried hope as we learned enough to find Annie and corner her. The bleak death charge of Erwin and the new scouts heralds the hope of destroying the beast, finding the basement and learning the truth. Even the ending. The destructive chaos of the Rumbling heralds the release of the titan curse to herald the hope of a brighter future. Even if the war, the pain, and suffering does not end. It heralds room for the hope and joy of, if nothing else, a temporary peace. A time when people are safe.
babe wake up korotos mystery shack posted another overanalyzing aot ep🗣️🗣️
Been waiting long but he did it, he made a video on my favorite episode
good day you posted this. just finished reading the manga and was in the mood of some aot content.
I just binged watch all of your aot videos yesterday just to wake up to a new episode lol awesome
These vídeos are AMAZING! I would love an episode on the Attack Titan power reveal in season 4, but all these aot vídeos are great! Keep it up!
Best aot analysis series giving us goat content once again 😊
i cant wait for the next episode of this series omg
i love how the URL for the video has "fury" in it
Ohhh, I'm so excited! I feel like the second part of S3 is my all-time favorite, maybe only eclipsed by S4 P1. I'm absolutely hyped that we're slowly starting to head towards the Return to Shiganshina!!
Ayyy i was wondering what to watch while eating and the notification provided
How dare you insult the hair of the TRUE KING of Paradis?! All hail Floch!! 👑
Keep it up bro. Usualy im not the kind of guy to wach the same videos over and over. But your overanalyzing is just to great. Im like okey we are on episode x now. I know all in and out about it. What Krotos gonna say thad i don.t know.? And boom you hit me over the head with a hole new prospective. Evry f time. BTW it is shiganshina finaly. Peak of AoT in my mind. Keep the work up. Much love my 1.60cm Levi copy
Fire analysis
I miss all of them :(
Audio listener here. You’re always coming in clutch for me during work. Doing Ymir’s work out here brother! ✊
at 19:00 is he mite be rounding up but in my opinion eren just didn't let his father be affected by the cursed
i love this series
That was a really good episode I loved this episode it was a great one
Floch's haircut was called a bird's nest 🪺. He got an improvement in the final season although I didn't like Mikasa killing him with the movement gear.
I always thought that the sickness/plague in Shinganshina was started BECAUSE of Grisha. He, being immune to it, unknowingly brought a sickness on him from Marley, which paradisians never encountered and thus an epidemic started
Damn that actually makes alot of sense, though wouldn't Saddis be infected too?
I cannot wait for episode 16 and 17 breakdown those are gonna be cray
I always wondered if grisha introduced the pandemic to the walls because he is the only human that came from outside in 100 years.
WHAT an episode
One of my favorite episodes. Can’t wait till you get to season 4
I only know Keith as seen in the hilarious, but short lived parody: "A Slap on Titan" would have been amazing if it went this far into the show and how they would have played Keith.
This is an amazing episode! My favourite from the whole series, pretty similar with the story from Blade Runner 2049, which made me a bit biased. But I'm a sucker for a story that focuses on a character that is not meant to be the chosen one, and Keith also acknowledges it, and yet he did the best he could, for the world. There is a powerful lesson in that.
When this ends please use the founder to erase my memory so I can watch this again. Thanks.
Deal! 👍
14:01 would love to know if the Crawling Titan survived everything that happened and turned into a human again after the ending.
In some translations Keith says "Nearly 20 years ago"
I'd like to think that the 20 years comment is nothing but them counting the years differently. It could make sense, since there's not really a winter in Paradis as far as we know. Only one moment in the show has actual snowfall. Perhaps some people count every 180 days as a full year. Or someone's going demented after fighting titans
Yessssss Good day off for me
I always love Koroto haha funny meme moments
Goddamn your channel rules, dude
Berserk has some happier moments during the fantasia arc
