  • Great video! My paternal haplotype is R-1B U106 Z18 which, from my research, were Indo-Europeans who went up to Norway and then came down to the Orkney Islands. Eventually becoming lowland Scots and finally American. Keep up the great work! I'll buy any book you write that is translated into English. My son and I are learning German, its time to get back to our heritage. No way we will let the Communist religion destroy our culture and heritage. Rhank you for doing what you do. Its extremely important.

    • How are you connecting the Orkney Islands with the lowlands? It is true that Shetland and the Orkney Islands have unusually high percentages of Norwegian Viking DNA, but all the studies I've seen show the islands as being significantly higher in this DNA than mainland Scotland, and southern Scotland in particular. While someone from the Orkney Islands could have up to 25% Norse ancestry, your typical lowland Scots person is going to have something more like 3-4%, and it would be a bit unusual for many Orkney Islanders to make it to America through that route. I don't know much about that specific haplogroup, but are you sure it's accounted for by your Scottish ancestry and not English ancestry instead? There is a lot of misinformation out there about Viking influence in Scotland, and about "Scotch-Irish" Americans who are often actually English in origin. The Danelaw left a significant genetic imprint on East Anglia all the way up to Yorkshire, at least six percent of the overall genetic makeup of the region, with another four percent coming from Norwegian Vikings instead. Some parts of mainland Scotland farther north have more Viking DNA than this, but most areas of eastern England actually have more than ten percent Viking DNA ancestry (6% Danish + 4% Norwegian), quite a bit higher than in the lowlands. Of course, we also have to consider that Anglo-Saxon DNA is often almost indistinguishable from Danish Viking DNA, given that the Angles and Jutes were often from what is present day Denmark, when the actual Danes were still only living on the island of Zealand before taking over the Jutland peninsula in the absence of the Jutes and Angles. And there is far more Anglo-Saxon DNA in England than in Scotland, ranging from 25-40% on average (again, higher in the east), compared with maybe 20%. The Anglo-Saxons were nearly genetically identical to the Danes. So if you're from East Anglia, you might have 10% Viking DNA and another 40% Anglo-Saxon DNA, for a total of 50%. The Ulster Scots also settled into Appalachia and neighboring regions, but often English (and German) settlers were already present. For example, despite having a grandfather from West Virginia claiming Scotch-Irish ancestry, I have only been able to find one Scottish surname out of 30+ in my family tree. I have on his side in particular, however, found quite a few English surnames that originate in southwestern England near Somerset, one of the major regions of English immigrants to America.

    • I am CTS4528 brother, it seems as if we were moving together at least during the Migration Period. CTS4528 Hatherdene 17, and U106-Z18 Hatherdene 5 & 6. Only last week I tried to sample U106 and specific haplos to find a link because I could see from the 3 BCE recoveries and the half dozen AD recoveries of CTS4528 that U106 was usually present at those sites as well. CTS4528 you will find under S1194 , there are not many of us FTDNA has under 1000 samples and recoveries are extremely rare. I learned from one of Sturla's videos, thank you Sturla, more about Collegno and the Longobard connections. As for the response from the other person- in early 2024 Clan Johnstone of Scotland recognized Earl Siward of Northumbria as the first of our line- Royal Peerages and other documents and he was correct about "English" influences but they were not "English" they were Dane. Look at my signature picture that is from a WILL and I am a 10th Generation Bostonian USA.

  • Jordanes claim of 1490 BC given the explanation of Gutones, I accept. You forgot the Salt in your trade network. The Philistines were R1b-M269, Tin saddle ingots found in Canaan, Mycenaean style horse gear found in Skane and M269 according to FTDNA originating in Varna- so good job and I agree with your view. Plutarch given his description of the Cimbri would also agree.

    @GlobalRage@GlobalRage7 ай бұрын
    • Posidonius links the Cimbri with the Cimmerians- he states that it was a small group of "Hyperborials" in the mix. Plutarch disagees, but Posidonius was a remarkable genius. He had calculated the circumference of the earth to within 900 miles of modern measurements.

  • Good video but I don’t think it’s accepted unanimously by any means that the Yamnaya originated south of the Caucasus. There’s a-lot of glaring holes in this idea put forth by Harvard. Eurogenes, Survive The Jive, and several others (especially linguists) have excellent critiques of the Southern Arc Hypothesis. The Pontic Caspian Steppe is still the likely origin for IE.

    • I still don't buy the Steppe hypothesis either. Why? Because the establishment seems to be pushing so hard for it. That's always a huge red flag for me. The story isn't so simple.

  • I was discussing with a Swedish person (half Norway origins from His Mother) and he was saying "We are IndoEurorpeans", referring to Swedish. To be sincere, I never felt IndoEuropean, or a relation even very ancient to India . Part European, part relation to ancient Central Asia and even Siberia. At Ancient Ancestry at FT-DNA I am getting 100% European, cause what Ancestry I got from so called Iron Age ProtoEuros is 3 Corded Ware and 1 Yamnaya. Now the Yamnaya is in Central Asia, the Corded Ware are from Germany. Also I match lots some Loschbur remnants ancient of Central Europe, that is said to be found in a Cave, FT-DNA put those as Hunter-Gatherers, but I do not think so. I seen a Documentary with Afghanistan people they are having some EuroIranic groups (not Pashtuns/Pashto) that were living in Caves, there. Is not Conspiracy theory, referring to East Iranic speakers of Ossetia, for a strange reason they are having a flag of White, Red, Yellow so 2 colors common to Germany and Belgium Flags. If you take Afghanistan, their Traditional Flag Color, was Black :) . Now taking Iranian I seen cognates to Romanian, taking Ossetian is 1000 or so or more, cognates to Germanic and are more with West Germanic, Cognates but even to Old Norse, are :) . So I think these ProtoEuros came of Central Asia,but I will not call them IndoEuros, some went to Pakistan and even North India, some came in Europe. As for Europe more ancient People, that were some Agriculturalist, some living in Forests, those from Caves from Loschbur I think were Pastoralist and living in Caves, as these EuroIranics of Afghanistan. :) So I felt connections to Iran and Afghanistan people, besides Euros, but not to India people :) . From before things with DNA testing and so on. So I need to thank to mister Sturla for explaining things so beautiful. I also got as significant ancestry some ancient Forest people of South Sweden, is 20-30%, (those of Motalla) I felt from before a connection to Sweden and very strange, to Finland :) . The IndoEuro term was confusing me and still our days, I am not accepting this even if according to FT-DNA my Agriculture ancestry is of SW Germany People, all, those so called " Linear Pottery culture" , I understand remnants of SW Germany were 70-80% H2 paternal lines, but that is not really such a proof, these came of ancient India. Maybe is a Split of ancient Middle East, H2 males paternal lines came to Europe with LBK while H1, went to India. "However, the primary branch H2 (P96) seems to have been found in sparse levels primarily in Europe and West Asia since prehistory. Pre-Pottery Neolithic B (PPNB) is part of the Pre-Pottery Neolithic, a Neolithic culture centered in upper Mesopotamia and the Levant, dating to c. 10,800 - c. 8,500 years ago has been found in remains also the later Linear Pottery culture and Neolithic Iberia. H2 likely entered Europe during the Neolithic with the spread of agriculture." So this a lot more logic, ancient LBK Agriculture people that give lots to Germans (now NW Germans those are of agriculture of ancient Denmark and so on, common to Scandos), came of ancient Mesopotamia. H1 paternal line came with Agriculture people to India also brought the Unicorn Symbol, that was traditional in Babylon city, the Unicorn.
