As a 65 yr old, gotta say we never got this level of live technical perfection from the Beatles. This band, this setting, and these grooves as the sun goes down-we are in a new renaissance of live intimate performance. Inject this band into my veins!
Innerspeaker is very heavily derived from mid 60s Psych rock, and Kevin Parker’s voice does remind me of John Lennon. Go listen to Skeleton tiger when you get a chance
One of the best!
go listen king gizzard, look up their sessions
It's true, they have it all together...amazing!
The beatles didn't have the technology. They stopped touring because of it, it was years later when paul mccartney performed a lot of their songs live for the first time. They couldn't even hear themselves play at most gigs because the crowd were screaming so loud, so they rarely bothered practicing and thus their live quality was poor to average.
I come back to rewatch this often. An absolute masterpiece.

I like how the drummer is NOT just smashing the drums as hard as possible with every hit. He's playing dynamically, even on the more rocking songs. This is a great lesson for all drummers, even metal guys - you don't have to play as loud as possible.
It’s because the mics and mix board used to track the drums add a bit of compression to help the small hits sound louder without those smashing frequencies you get from shredding the drums lol
Amazingly only a ride cymbal used as crash ride...
Metal is suppose to be played loud.
@@Quakeinc14 agreed.

Damn. This reminds me of when the band I was in moved in together. During the week, we’d write songs, rehearse, smoke weed, have our girlfriends over and listen to lots of music. Then on weekends we’d go to venues across Manchester and Liverpool and play gigs. We were all broke af but I was incredibly happy. This album in particular makes me remember one night when everyone was staying out except me and the guitarist. He came home and said "man I’ve managed to get hold of some LSD, do you fancy tripping tonight?". So we put all the sofa cushions on the floor, got a load of blankets, lit loads of candles so that was our only light source, and finally we had a sound system auxed into a laptop with KZhead. It was an incredible night. We tripped balls and laughed our arses off. Something about this album resonated with us, because we must have listened to it 4 or 5 times that night. As a result, I’ll always have a special place for this album, with Alter Ego being my favourite track from it

Truly timeless, sounds like the 70's meets space age... just classic, hard hitting, rich with meaning and emotion, perfect album, perfect man and perfect band . THIS IS what I live to listen to.
This band singlehandedly shows you how important a bassist can be. The bass fills the atmosphere of these songs so well, I can't imagine them being as groovy without it, honestly.
Needs more of it too...bout' a good 5 DB. Could round off the low end a tad if it's an issue after that...then it could mesh better with the drums I feel. Tad lil' bit of compression would offer bit more sustain too as notes sure are dying out fast on that Hofner. Dead strings? The shape of the room? Simply undermixed a bit? Hard to say. Strange set up. But still sounding better than many other performances I've heard. Nice pad.
Bass is everything, the rest is flourish and spectacle, bass provides the groove and feel and rhythm and the drums keep it in motion. Vocals, melodies, harmonies, solos and synths are the icing so to speak on a bass and drum cake foundation.

2010 man... I remember listening to this album on repeat walking across my college campus. This shit is an entire vibe recreated. "Cracks in the pavement underneath my shoe I care less and less about and less about you No one else around to look at me So I can look at my shadow as much as I please All the kicks that I can't compare to Making friends like you're all supposed to You will never come close to how I feel"
Going to 5 million views, this is NUTS. Amazing recording, this is magic.
They should have done the same for Lonerism, or at least a professional recording of Desert Daze
i think i am responsible for 4 million of those views! really tho, it should have a billion its that good
@@alexmalchmaybe they still will! 🤞🏼
TAME IMPALA FOREVER 🤩😍
The fact that this doesn't have 20+ million views is sad. The whole performance is amazing, I think it's better in almost everyway than the studio album.
I was just thinking that
It has 1.2m after a month and a half... that is pretty good going. Every chance it will get up to 20m at some point
This is the studio where they do their albums.
except that he messed up runway houses city clouds lyrics
@@JS-yu1wt Yeah, but you compare that to the kind of garbage pop music that gets released currently, those videos get 5-50 million views in a matter of days, it's unfortunate that actual good music isn't at the forefront of the musical stage.
Such an amazing performance of a legendary, nostalgic album. I watched this on a flight back from Hawaii and it was the most relaxing, perfect experience.
Hey you might like The Doublejumps if you like the older Tame Impala music
This set always gets better every time I hear it. It might very well be some of the best music I've ever heard, truth be told.
This album was the album to my senior year of highschool, always brings memories of the summer blazed out of my mind, playing skyrim, hanging with my best friend, not knowing what would become of my life
sounds like a nice time
what became of your life?
Tane impala and skyrim ❤️
Literally same here
This is still my favorite album. I love seeing that it’s still being brought back often.
For me, this is one of the best stoner albums of all time. Every tune I can relate to on a weedy level. Thanks for doing this awesome gig. What a gaff, by the way
Kevin’s got the voice of an Angel with the acid-washed guitar. Pure bliss…
if you like Tame Impala you should check out Lonely Gimmick - All Along the Watchtower, it gives me early Tame Impala vibes and its a great take on a classic song
This album is actually a masterpiece. Every single song on it is amazing! There’s not a lot of albums out there that can claim the same
I agree. No skips for me on this album ever, that's extremely rare.
Have you listened to Steal this album by System of a Down? That is another godlike album
All of his albums are masterpieces.
What an amazing discovery. Not sure how I would have gotten through the pandemic without Kevin's music and this performance in particular.
Truly one of the all time greats. Timeless sound that has to be cherished!!
I need this for every album
I listen to this like 4 times a week lol I need this for all of the other albums too
▶️🅰️🙋♂️🎸🎧🌟
We need this live edition on spotify!
The variation at 46:50 of the ending of The Bold Arrow Of Time deserves to be on spotify lol, it has been a live exclusive for a bit now
Stuff like this is why I like KZhead music but switching from Spotify may be hard if you have a lot of time invested in playlists etc.. also I think there is some functionality that I don't use but spotify has that YTM doesn't... maybe worth checking out though..
and on vinyl
Also we need the 'true' Borderline back on Spotify whilst we're at it.
@@Thom-jj7yr that's right sr!
Its amazing when you watch the drums being played with so much skill, intention and care.
What a flawless album and performance.
Some songs on Tame's early albums sound like Lennon had a band with McCartney on bass, Mitch Mitchell on drums and David Gilmour on guitar with Hendrix's Fuzz. Of course Kevin has his unique personality and his way of creating/expressing, his own thing. But it's clear that his sound has a lot of the 60's, 70's
Amazing performance. These guys were always great musicians but in the past couple of years they've been absolutely superb. They nailed every song to perfection here, some performances are so good that I prefer this version to the studio one. And they make it look so easy too. The sound mix is freaking beautiful and Kevin's singing is significantly better than those early Tame Impala days. And the beautiful scenery of the wave house is just the cherry on top. This really is one of the greatest recorded live performances I've ever seen or heard. I hope they do something similar for Lonerism!
this is such a beautiful performance, words can’t explain how much I love this album
I remember when this album came out and my older sister said “you gotta listen to this” and my taste in music was forever changed. It’s the kind of music that scratches that itch but leaves you wanting more. Still one of my all time favorite albums.
I kept hearing Let it Happen on a Spotify playlist I like and eventually looked him up cause I absolutely adored the song. I started with InnerSpeaker listening to the whole discography and man was I shook by that album in particular. So damn good
@@TheFos88 If you haven't already, you can go through that whole process again with Unknown Mortal Orchestra.
if you like Tame Impala or his sound, I recommend this song I found the other day, it has the same vibe and I think you'd like it :) kzhead.info/sun/lM-wecOpopakrHk/bejne.html
W sister
This is why i love Tame Impala.
The way they plugged in for the lil interlude part at the end of bold arrow of time, rips my heart apart- in a good way! 💜💜💜
I'm loving this steady flow of music from them
I lived in Australia for 3 years, was Lucky enough to see them live, amazing
I love that we can witness this again, an absolutely iconic performance!
As soon as it ended I downloaded the most high res copy I could find on KZhead and played it in the background whenever I had people come over
