What is the best minecraft launcher? These are the best Minecraft launchers for FPS and modding Minecraft!
I go through each launcher such as Minecraft, MultiMC, Curseforge/Overwolf, GDLauncher, PolyMC, Prism Launcher, and ATLauncher! We also mention clients like Lunar, Feather, and Labymod.
DO NOT USE POLYMC it has been compromised. I talk about it in the video but use Prism launcher instead!
This is a reupload with some edits which include additions such as clients and prism launcher.
If you are on Linux the ATLauncher is compatible. Works on Steam Deck as well!

Hey. I run ATLauncher (and have done for the past 10+ years now), thanks for the shoutout and kind words. But thanks for the words, I've tried my best to make the launcher as easy to use and support as many things as possible over the years, I'm just glad people still enjoy it.

Then when they removed the Curseforge interaction (and I couldn't update ATM7) I switched to PolyMC. Then when that hit the fan (Prism hadn't been forked yet) I switched to GDLauncher.
I used to use ATLauncher, it was the first 3rd party launcher i used. But i switched to multimc, then poly (before it was compromised), then prisim. The main reasons are the groups and being able to sort my instances easier. I used to use a bunch of the “#” symbol to determine whats on top with AT

To be honest with you. I never understand why to use a different launcher for Minecraft before and still, I do not understand it but I use the curseforge launcher for mods and it is just easy to use but you made me more interested in using a different launcher. I use the default launcher too because I have vanilla worlds and need it for animation work because I notice that modded worlds from curseforge can't be added to the animation program I use. So I fear if I use different launchers the words I need for my animations can't be used. But I gonna get look into using a diffrent launcher. Some more knowledge people could explain why players use launchers more than the default ones.
It's very difficult to install mods for older versions of Minecraft, such as Single Player Commands
3rd party launchers have much, much more features than the vanilla one. For instance: When you want to mod Minecraft, you have to first launche the vanilla version you want to play, then execute the downloader for the mod loader you're gonna use, then launch the modded version. With 3rd party launcher, you just create an instance for the version you want -without launching it, just adding it to your main page-, then depending on the launcher you use, click "Install Fabric/Forge/Quilt", and depending on the launcher download even the mods from the launcher without worrying about the compatability since I think all of them just show you the mods that exist for your version, and again depending on the launcher even update the mods from the launcher, all without launching the game. Another reason is they are just simpler. Default one is aesthatically pleasing but kinda bloated, and it is harder to manage instances on there. All you have is a list of instances that you can't sort yourself and have to open the menu for each of them individually to do any modifications. 3rd party launcher also have more fundamental modifications to the game, such as the rendering engine appearently. Also, a huge reason for me is, each instance is it's own seperated game. Normally, you create another instance of Minecraft and all the worlds, resourcepacks, mods etc. are shared between all the instances which is a pain in the ass to manage manually. With 3rd party launchers they are by default seperated. Especially for mods this had been a problem for me for a long time but now I have the power of other launchers.
MultiMC for example lets me have multiple sets of mods at once without having to remove them from my mods folder
Bruh, my fear is when if microsoft finally stops supporting java edition. So if you consider that, getting another launcher is your best option. That's my main concern... The longevity of java edition and my world since 1.7. If using another launcher will make me still be able to play 50 years my world on the last java version in the future... then so be it.
@@ashurad_fox5991 They would lose a lot of the fanbase, so I would say not any time soon at least.
For people curious the situation with PolyMC: "Compromised" refers to the fact that the lead project coordinator has recently deleted some of the push requests off the project and other contributions related to the Code of Conduct and other code that has been uploaded by people in the LGTBQ+ community, as he is a staunch anti-acceptance supporter. The client itself does not do any harm, but a lot of people have migrated to Prism as a way to boycott the recent changes, and the rumors being malware have been a way to deter people from further using it. PolyMC is a fork of MultiMC, and Prism is a fork of PolyMC, so all the profiles created in one of these launchers should be fine to be exported and imported.
At the same time Prism Launcher devs have doubled down on them being politically involved that they've introduced an LGBT flag to their logo (they can lie about it as much as they want, it's 100% meant to be that based on their stance on the CoC in PolyMC), and in my opinion anyone who cares this much about politics in their software doesn't care about the software at all, so I'd rather not use PolyMC or Prism and instead move to ATLauncher which hasn't shown any signs of political stinginess in the project itself.
All the more reason to use PolyMC instead
The developer not wanting to mention ideological groups in your project's code of conduct isn't causing the issue, these narcissists pushing their views onto him are. And you just admitted to them spreading lies, but it's fine because it was to keep people from using the launcher without needing to convince them that your argument is better? You're almost as delusional as these pathetic children.
So some randos literally stole man's work because "mah feelings"? Damn, thanks, will never use Prism.
@@OorakanaGleb It's FOSS software, you can't really steal it, plus, PolyMC has had fewer updates and features than Prism, so I don't really see this point standing.

Four questions. Does ATLancher automatically have the latest version of Minecraft available? Do you have to download it again each time there is an update? Does it separate Vanilla, Fabric, and Forge in your files? And finally, how to a move over from the main Minecraft launcher to ATLancher? Ok, a five one that is nowhere near as important as the other, but I'm still curious about. Can it be used to launch bedrock edition?
1. Depends if the dev still updating the version manifest file. 2. You don't have to update, but if you do, some launchers offer auto update, some require you to update them manually. They have nothing to do with the "version manifest" file as it always grab the lastest when you download a new version. 3. It does separate different instances, depends on what kind of mod loader and version you installed for that instance. 4. Usually you just move whatever content in .minecraft to ATLauncher configuration directory. I don't use ATL so I can't help you with this. 5. None of the third party launcher have the ability to launch the Bedrock/Windows 10 version. Bedrock edition doesn't work like Java so it is incredibly useless to just having a button just to launch an exe file.
@@sorae42 Thanks this was helpful
ATLauncher always has the latest version of Minecraft available including snapshots as well. You don't have to download the launcher again every time there is an update. It separates your instances. I don't know of an easy way to move over from the default launcher. I think you just have to install what you need then move your worlds over manually. You cannot launch bedrock edition using any launcher I believe
@@BillyDaBongo thanks
I totally agree, I've been using prism for over 6 months now (switched to it when polymc went down) and it's, AMAZING.
What? Prism's only been out since Oct.17, 2022
@@Slymeball polymc since june then when they got attacked switched to prism, the launcher is made by the same people, but different names and some QOL changes in prism launcher.

I’m coming here after playing with the default launcher since 1.4.7. And I use Fabric mods for everything (worldedit, sodium, iris) I can’t believe it never occurred to me there were better ways to get mods
