Beggars in India will approach you all day long with a scam where they ask you to buy them expensive food items from a nearby supermarket. Find out exactly what they do with these items you give them and how you can really help people who really need charity in India.
Shot in Mumbai, this auntie and her entire family work the streets every day running this scam. During the scam, an Indian Nun came up to me to help me and stop me being scammed! She was terrific and demonstrates the lengths Indians will go to to help foreign guests in their country. This Nun actually knew the family and told me this women's daughters are being educated by her at a Christian missionary charity called Prem Dan.

    • Man, I went to an middle eastern country for tourism and found alot of beggers ALL of them are INDIANS.. the difference is the law there is severe against begging so those beggers aren't openly begging, they see you are white and non Arab and come to you quietly telling you some sad story about themselves to make you feel sad for them and give them money... if they did that with arab citizen, he would call the police and they will kick the begger back to India

  • I had this happened to me today… I live in the uk 😭 The woman (who also has a baby in pushchair with her) asked for money and then when me and my mum said no, she was persistent in asking .. then changed to ask for milk for her baby. TLDR (aftermath) after we said we have no money and won’t pay for milk she huffed and sighed then left 😬

  • There is similar kind of scam in Bangalore too. These people come to you and lie they are hungry and in need of food when you’re at a food stall. When you agree to buy food, they will start to order expensive items from the menu. If you offer them cheap food, then they insist on getting them expensive ones or they force you to take them to expensive restaurants.
