  • Elias Petterson, JT Miller, Quinn Hughes, Thatcher Demko, the Canucks have four legit contenders for the Hart Trophy and Miller has an outside chance of winning the Art Ross, this is the best Canucks team talent-wise since 2011 and the most exciting lineup since 1994 when every game was an edge of your seat nailbiter, especially when Pavel touched the puck.

    @ll7868@ll78684 ай бұрын
    • The talent we have this year is definitely fun to watch, not to take anything away from 2011, Sedinery magic was a beauty to behold, outside of it, the other players just got the job done, nothing too flashy. 1994 you had the Russian Rocket Bure (whomst jersey I have worn to both Canucks games I have attended, Skate Jersey my favorite), was that of a beast. I wasn't born yet to watch his games, but from replays, he was one of the fastest skaters with an excellent shot. This year we got Hughes great two way offensive defenseman, JT Miller all round Center, Elias Petterson with a wicked shot and some good speed, also the giants of Myers (who isn't the greatest, but is starting to play smarter hockey) and Zadorov, and perhaps the next greatest goalie since Luongo (which I went to his ROH night game)

    • 0 chance of a hart based on that. There’s too many great players on the canucks for there to be an mvp and they’re getting depth scoring too. It’s gonna be Kucherov, Pastrnak, or Panarin, maybe McDavid if the oilers actually come back. Kuch, Pasta, and the breadman all have 10+ more points than the 2nd highest scoring players on their teams. Kucherov makes up a little less than half of the Lightning’s goals, which is something McDavid hasn’t even had to do for a couple of years and has only recently gotten the help of Vasilevskiy to aide them.

      @bodhithomas5684@bodhithomas56844 ай бұрын
    • @@bodhithomas5684 True, a player that effectively is carrying their team by sheer amount of points and not sharing the spotlight as much is in higher odds of probably winning the Hart, as they aren't really going to be having those points split amongst them while other good players are snagging points here and there. Take the Dakota and Garland line, they are clicking and coming in clutch for Vancouver lately while early it was the Miller, Boeser, Petterson, Hughes, Hronek core that were carrying the team in points. Now that you look at the frontrunners, it's McDavid doing McDavid things on Edmonton, MacKinnon and Makar lighting it up for Colorado, and Kucherov feasting on points for Tampa. In a way, it's better to have a spread talent team than one great player. I could care less about a Hart Trophy so long as we have a stronger shot for/during playoffs.

      @trubluduhu9055@trubluduhu90554 ай бұрын
    • @@bodhithomas5684 Art Ross is for the league scoring champ, Hart is for MVP, you're trying to guess the Top 3 scorers in the league and Hart doesn't have to even be a scorer, it can be a goalie, defencman or a 3rd line penalty killer. "Too many great players for there to be an MVP" doesn't even make sense.

The number of people who said the Canucks were still garbage because of that result was amazing to see. Talking like the first game of the preseason actually mattered. Where are those people now? • I can’t remember the last time the Canucks had such a balanced attack. Every line can put up points. The goalie tandem is all you could ask for, and the defence is no longer the sore point of this team. The additions have really made a huge difference. I was concerned their start in the first 15 games was a bit of overachieving and a hot powerplay that would tail off at some point , but not anymore. With their bottom six just getting better as the season goes on, this team is for real. The teams below them are going to have a hell of a time making up ground on them at this rate. What a difference a year makes.

    @leonardmccannon3136@leonardmccannon31364 ай бұрын
    • I would still think of all the three roles, defense is still our weakest, but it is waaaaay better than it ever has previous seasons. Offence has been fantastic, there's a reason why we lead the league in goals, and the strong defense also keeping us highest in goal differential too. The goalie tandem we have going on as well is reminiscent of close to it as 2011 Roberto Luongo and Cory Schneider.

    • @@coryjohn4057 I'm not saying it's our weakness, but probably our weaker end. We have guys who can definitely score and get us those goals we need, and then stellar goalies, just seems we sometimes make bad plays in our own zone and on our off games, where we can still get goals, our defenses almost looks like they slack off or lost, not to the degree we had last couple years, but we bounce back from messy games now. In the NHL games, I would be willing to bet our defense rating would be lower than goalie and offense, but wouldn't be too far a gap.

I remember a guy named Weber. When he was beside Suter they were unbeatable. But away from each other they struggled more than they should have against speed. Those two if one is always in the middle look out. And that's coaching. I see it coming together.

Second one not much you can do other than shifting to the side faster in hopes maybe your body blocks it rather than relying on catching it with the glove. All around, solid performance by Desmith, a really good pairing with Demko so he gets some rest

    @HeavenlyHouse@HeavenlyHouse4 ай бұрын
    • I don't think he hates him, my guess is that there's a limit you can bring onto the bench, and he maybe felt Kuzmenko to sit out, nothing personal or that if he was playing poorly, maybe he wasn't feeling well or needed rest, who knows, just don't think Tochet hates him, he's always expressing how he likes the team and their mindset

  • I say let other teams know we are open to improving in a big way, dangle 2024 1st, Podkolzin/Klimovich + $$$$$ and get an impact player before the deadline. Set the prices up high to screw over others and let the chips fall. I like Willander and Lekkermaki Im not worried about turning Podkolzin + Futures into another great player for this moment.

    • @@christhornycroft3686they are a contender team, just not as strong a contender as others. As much I am a die hard fan, I still need to have some reality in place, that being we aren't the best team, we aren't the strongest, we probably aren't the most durable either, but this season has been a massive step in the right direction, and yes, with not trading away a first round pick for next year's draft, we can fit together a really nice piece to add and maybe complete this teams roster
