Earthquakes occur around the world and have been recorded on all seven continents. What intrigues you the most about these tremors?
On 25 April 2015, Nepal (where world's tallest mountain i.e. Mt. Everest lies), got hit with an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8M or 8.1M, which killed nearly 10,000 people and injured more than 22,000. It is also known as one of the major devastating earthquakes in history with more than 300 aftershocks until now! It is so bizarre that National Geographic's selected Nepal's catastrophic photograph as their "clickbait", but never mentioned its tale.
National Geographic we still can’t predict when they will occur.

5 years since the tragedy and Nepal is still recovering. Recalling that day still sends chills down the spine.
That last bit holds true. Makes me wonder the sort of events the dwellers of that time experienced when mountains and canyons were formed.
Imagine being in the middle of an eye operation when an earthquake hits.

Is there a playlist of Natgeo 101 videos? These videos are just amazing. The narrator's voice is just splendid!

I am in Guanica, PR and we are in the middle of an earthquake swarm with a severe 6.4 (though I believe it was stronger than that in some areas). We just had thousands of quakes over a 3 week period. I never heard of this phenomenon before. I am learning about quakes more and more every day. Thanks for posting this NatGeo!

I live in Ambon, eastern Indonesia, from September 26 to December 26 2019 we got about 2000+ earthquakes in various powers. The first earthquake was the strongest one, despites it's only 6.8 Mw, but it's very close to my town and affected a lot, it claimed 30 lives. And then, we got a series of earthquakes which were about 2000+ times, from 2.0 Mw to 6.8 Mw.
Indonesia is a beautiful country but I don't understand why people live there.....i mean you guys have to deal with earthquakes, typhoons, volcanoes, tsunamis and god knows what else you got to deal with there Indonesia is just not a safe place for people to live in my opinion because of all the natural disasters that happens there
@@lsaint-lou1657 ahh yes, because of the nature itself Indonesia contain a LOT of variative recource The volcano also helps a lot of the farmer because the soil becomes more fertile when a near volcano erupts Indonesia also contains 45% of the world fish species Its coastline is 54.720 km/around 34.000 miles long Indonesia is the fifth place of being the country with most island And more And do i forgot the economic advantages? Hello there from Turkey. Around 3.5 months ago, there was an earthquake. We have lost too many people in our region. I hope you can prepare a big detailed documentary about it. Because it is the most powerful earthquake that has been ever occurred on the ground (not in the ocean) in the human history. Thanks for your help... Greetings from Adıyaman.
There was one near Stockton-on-Tees this morning, the UK rarely gets earthquakes, so I have no idea what caused it but it's still pretty interesting:)
