I have multiple slims I spent no more than 40-50 on per console on (locally, online, marketplace), which came with games, memory cards and multiple official controllers. Edit: I am aware that the sticker itself is not illegal, but many companies do void the warranty if the sticker is tampered with, which is illegal according to the FTC. And also, please do not take this as law advice BTW, as I'm not a lawyer.

    • Ask yourself, if the second hand store or donations fixed and cleaned every product you buy, you think they’ll sell for cheap? When I did appliance deliveries I never understood how some people would buy “refurbished” and then start complaining when we’d deliver about scuffs and dents etc like.... didn’t you know this when you bought it? Or you just wanted the refurbished priced with a like new appliance? He’s not going to be splitting machines open to clean them when you won’t do it yourself (or you may, but majority won’t risk it) and then expect to pay the same price. Yes they’re high, but that’s anywhere you go. If you have a decent pc then emulate what you can but if you don’t you’re only option is one of these consoles like it or not, the supply isn’t growing after 12-20 years for some consoles. Then again, everyone buys half assed stuff, so why wouldn’t the next guy decide to do the same? Sadly the people being honest and nice don’t make money, and those stingy and deceitful make bank. So if you want better prices do the work to find them, check second hand stores or ask older folks who no longer have their children around if they have any old consoles, you might just get lucky - otherwise unfortunately or fortunately it’s one these guys we have to deal with!

I took all my old consoles apart as the big plastic box I was storing them in smelled really bad (chemical) and I feared leaking caps. Later I found out that the plastic used for this box secretes this stench, gathering it inside when being closed for a while, even though I have other similar boxes that don't do this... Btw, we have a 20GB 360 and it's loud like a hover. Cleaning on the inside and replace thermal paste (remember this being a pain) did nothing to improve this. • After losing my original dreamcast as a kid in one of the many moves across the country I was forced to do by my parents, I bought one for like 40 bucks off ebay in 2014, that was fully operational without any issues whatsoever. It also came with two controllers that had no flaws. If there was one complaint I had about it, there was what I consider to be a minor cosmetic flaw, with what appeared to be a slight crack in the top cover, but it was not an issue. My brother now has that dreamcast, along with all the retro systems I bought off ebay back then for like 50 bucks max.... I can't believe the price DKOldies is charging for these consoles. And after all the videos I have seen on them, they should be sued for false advertisement.

  • This is why I generally don't trust anything "refurbished" - it could be the extensive teardown and testing you expect, but usually it just means they cleaned the outside and called it refurbished to jack up the price and mislead people. Usually if it it refurbished, it had some major issues in the first place, and most people/companies do not have the skills required to fix these things properly.

  • Hello, Austin. I work for DKOldies and we've made some policy changes. We will now be fully cleaning the interiors of our consoles, and the good news is it'll only add 500.00 to the cost of each console for our customers! You'll still be able to purchase our "Refurbished" consoles at their regular price, but if you select "Actually Refurbished" you'll get one thats been done correctly for a small 500.00 fee! Thanks for your input!

I always got my games in great condition from them but never got a console so can't speak on that. All I had to do was do a teardown myself and clean it up on the inside. There's hundreds of videos online on how to do that. You also always get extra stuff with it like controllers, sometimes even games. It's just not worth it buying from them, even if they were cheaper and actually refurbished the consoles.

I grew up in a very low income family, so that thing wasn't getting replaced anytime soon, so i took it apart not knowing what i was doing. I broke almost all of the plastic snaps, but i actually managed to clean everything up put it back together and it ran perfectly... Most of the time. Anyways I say all of this because seeing the 360 being torn down and all the plastic snaps being broken reminded me of this incident.

One day I said, "can I clean this? this is really gross." she goes, "only if we have time." As if its not literally the first thing people look at. I couldn't believe it. • The outside of the consoles as well aren’t always taken good care of either by DKOldies. As others have pointed out, using magic erasers as you see in the refurbish vid will actually cause abrasions on the surface of your console, making that Wii loose it’s glossy coat and be left with a scuffed mess. There’s other outside cosmetic horror shows on KZhead as well. So inside and out, you’re getting a bad deal from them. Glad you added another case against them, Austin!
