  • I find that moving the wire at the bottom from side to side to make sure it is seated properly ... prior to doing the final tensioning of the screw is just as important as the torque ... especially when installing larger gauge wires.

  • Pretty standard stuff there, decent job. I like that he actually mentions cable grouping inside the board, im sick of seeing bundles of cables tied together so tightly they nearly merge. Loosely spread is the way. Far to many Instagram electricians thinking that pretty means good!!...When in reality ( unless all those cables have been massively upsized ) are making a nice fire hazard.

  • I don’t see the need for three or four different torque screwdrivers for one DB total cack , why in. God’s name can’t they just have one or two torque settings and one torque screwdriver that covers those settings. My torque screwdriver covers 1Nm to 5.5 Nm so i’am pretty sure I would be covered for that DB . Absolute Madness this is nothing more than the Germans make a bank load of money of the back of the Uk . The world has gone positively gaga I’am telling you. Also I still hear that word required torque , it’s not required it is how ever the manufacturers recommendation nothing more. But tobe fair that is a nicely dressed DB , I have always used cable tie’s when dressing that type of Board but I never took the cables up then fold back down , I like that look a lot neater . Job well done 👍.when it comes to torque settings just dropped the word required. Fantastic video as always Gas 👍👍👍👍❤️

  • Nothing new really, nice that there's no tails on the rcbo's. Not sure why you need all those torque drivers when the setting cross each other, dread to think how much they cost, I did think they would beep when the level was reached and not click like a standard one with them being digital. Probably controversial bunching them together no matter how tight they are, but it's something I do, and I don't lose any sleep over it.

  • Discussion - The distribution boards, switches and isolation and the like do not appear to be installed at a height which is maintainable and as such will require steps to perform simple maintenance and switching tasks. The average reach of a person standing on the floor is 2.1m. MOD design and Maintenance Guide 08 which is often used as a reference suggests 2.0 as a maximum height. Unless mitigated by a Designers Risk assessment, all maintenance and switching operations should be undertaken from a maintainable and accessible position, such as floor standing.

    • The board is very long as it’s got a entry box at the bottom with SPD and main switch plus and extension box on top. Under the board is the meter and service head. This is the only realistic option in this installation.

      @efixx@efixx2 жыл бұрын
    • @@efixx it's very difficult to comment on whether this is the only reasonable installation in this case. I do know from the angles presented that the switching parts of this of these DBS is way too high for operation from a floor standing position. I do know from a designer point of view this is something that I see a lot off. I do know from a designer's point of view that often it is not the only reasonable alternative it is usually the most cost effective alternative for the contractor.

  • But why?! A single phase RCBO takes one slot, but we need 7 slots for a 3 phase? Why I ask you?! Why not have a 3 module, 3 phase RCBO?! It makes upgrading an older fully populated board impossible without.
