Son of the Late Ustad Zia Mohiuddin Dagar, he is the torchbearer of the Dagar style of the Rudra Veena. Hope you enjoy these few recordings.

I was fortunate to learn vocal from tne late id. Zia Moiddin Dagar
Wow, incredible beauty, every note is Divine pleasure.
I wish I could play like him!
Dear Anathar Frost, as an American you need to broaden your exposure to the world. Just because you’re unfamiliar with something does not make it ‘folk’. India has had a rich and vibrant classical music for hundreds if not thousands of years. Welcome to Reality
It's more than thousand of years actually 😉
Words cannot do this music justice - just allow the music to speak within you.....
I become present in the presence of this music. Thank you.
Thats a really nice turn of phrase.:)
Lucky man
I have no right to comment that sun is bright or not. It is paradise.
We were fortunate to see his father a few times in Seattle in the early 1980s. By chance we visited a former palace in central Udiapur in Rajasthan where there is a display case with a veena and a short write-up about the Dagar family, which apparently had a role as court musicians. There was discussion about the family having to transition to auto mechanic work (?) at least for a bit; so glad they are making music!
I guess I am kinda randomly asking but does anyone know of a good site to watch new series online?
@River Alexis thanks, I went there and it seems to work :) Appreciate it!
@Anson Emmitt Glad I could help :)
Purely sublime notes. Unique n the best of all Dhrupad Artists. 🙏👍🙏💌🌷💌🕉
Being not of the Dagar family and being a westerner, I was steered toward learning to render this music not with a Rudra Veena, but rather with the Subahar. Initially, I was introduced to the Dagar Gharana through the father, but later became more fond of the son's distinct style.
Please share your music.
I cannot stop listening to this. i don't know why.
HE,HE,HE,XD JUST LIKE ME!
Same feeling
Same here especially from about 51;41 where the percussion kicks in!
Maybe because its go deep in our emotions/feelings.. it's a kind of healing songs, very ancient. It's good for all!
🙏🙏🙏just Devine. No capacity to express it.
Even while listening and I am compelled to be attending other things I find myself relax and as if I am in deep meditation. So spontaneous coming from heart no jugglery no out play.. No words are enough to thank .🙏
the great inheritance lives on
I feel totally relaxed while listening to this.
Ahhhh Hindustani Classical !! Divine !
I still can't believe I missed an opportunity to listen to him in person at my own Institute due to lack of association with social events going on in the campus! Can't hate myself enough for this opportunity lost. :(
Ustad sahab ko sadar Pranam 🙏

What a clarity of notes, truly controlled and composed playing.
And thus came the slow billowing cloud! Wow! This is surreal for long drive in a cloudy day. Thanks for the upload. Please share more. I really love how you can take your pick from different styles of Indian music based on your current emotion. It's truly the beauty of Ranjayate iti ragah! I would always prefer Megh in this way.

GREAT MUSIK. HE SOUNDS LIKE HIS FATHER
~ oh yeah ~...greetings from germany...
I always love finding music that features "folk" instruments of other cultures ( American by nationality myself) So needless to say I am happy I stumbled upon this ....
Great! Let me say that, this kind of Veena is one of classical instruments that was played by "folk" at large once upon a time ! :)
Nilesh Bandale 😊 true!! Very interesting when someone thinks a super complicated instrument like this is simpler than a guitar 😇😇
I agree. Finding new music of other cultures is like walking on the beach and discovering a highly unique stone washed in from another shore.
@@nandikantig Haha.. But it is true. Like Harp, veena or Indian lute had several main types during ancient period and continue to be added till medieval times.
I am not an expert in indian music, but I am not sure this could be labelled a folk instrument. A typical folk indian instrument may be for example the short flute which was played by shepherds, Krishna is often represented playing such a flute (as in his childhood he was associated with the gopies, the maidens in charge with the cows in the countryside). But a "classical" version of the flute was created in the beginning of the 20th century by Pannalal Gosh, the long bansuri flute, and it became accepeted as a more serious instrument usable for classical music. In my opinion, this type of Veena is associated with elaborate hindu classical music, which does not mean it was noy played in the countryside... In Indian villages, you can find some brahman or some pandits (masters) of astrology, rituals, yoga, maybe music also ? But as Nilesh Bandale says, they were maybe different versions of this instrument for different uses...
It is befitting in our spring rainy day! Best regards. Thanks.

who is on the pakhawaj? and what tal?
Pandit Manik Munde ji is the pakhawaj maestro on this recording, somebody mentioned this on one of the threads here.
Weird, I hear some kind of traditional Malian music influence in the last tune.
👌🙏
