  • A 2 inch OME suspension kit provided much better towing and firm controllable ride over standard in my NP that is still running strong at 330k. Love the vehicle, great build quality and reliability.

    • Hey mate I have a 2006 NP Diesel with the original bars in the roof, do you have any suggestions for a low profile roof rack (maybe remove the side bars to if possible) ... Thanks❤

    • Hi mate, we got a rhino roof rack which is pretty low profile. On our ranger just fitted a San Hima which has been good. I'd recommend checking those out as the profile is similar is heigh. Also have a discount and code will review soon 👍

  • Pajero’s are a great touring vehicle and can be made even better with a decent suspension upgrade. Our old NM had a 40mm tough dog lift and it was the best mod I’d done to the vehicle. It helped to alleviate some of the cons you’ve mentioned in your video. I towed our Jayco camper thousands of kilometres on dirt roads around Australia and never had an issue with the vehicle or the camper other than small issues that could be fixed on the road. The only thing that couldn’t be fixed was the fuel consumption. The NM was a 3.5 litre V6 that consistently returned over 18 litres per 100 with the camper on. The worst being 40 litres per 100 on a sand track into a headwind. At 300k she finally gave up and haemorrhaged all over the garage floor after getting home from a long trip. Engine oil everywhere, but at least she made it home. We now have an NX diesel to which we again fitted a suspension lit, this time Kings springs with Bilstein shocks, a superb contrast to the standard suspension and the tough dog on the NM. It hasn’t done the big trips yet, but I’m sure it will handle it as well if not better than the NM. Both were Exceeds and the trim level is similar.

  • Just a suggestion from a follow Pajero owner, as standard the trailer plug is underslung on the bracket and, as you've found, can get damaged. I've flipped mine over to the top of the bracket and haven't a any further issues. Yes, it's technically upside down but it works better for me.

  • As others have said, mount the trailer plugs on top of the bracket. A quality 2 inch suspension lift with HD rear springs and airbags allows the tow hitch to be fitted the right way up, thereby solving the door opening issue while keeping the rig level and improving the good ride even further. Very happy with my 2014.

  • Thanks for the video, just honest information. As far as the plug connection for the trailer I flipped mine over to the top. The headlights are OK, but decided to try some recommended LED's in the low beams. Can't tell you how impressed I was at the clarity of light, and extra light to the sides when driving. Easier on the eyes and definitely a safer drive. Will replace high beam with them as well in time as they take the same bulb. H11 from memory, comes as a KIT with a short lead as well to make it easier to fit.

    • Thanks mate! Have done a few upgrades since this video, notably I did flip the plug over like you said it was after losing another one 😂 Also have put on spottys, rear roof lights, both have done videos for recently, and just today put hd shocks and installed airbags last week which videos should come through soon. Heading up to ningaloo area this coming week so the new gear will get tested and really interested to the performance difference. I am looking at led for the headlights like you mentioned, great to hear there is a good return on them. Thanks for dropping me a line mate 🍻

    • Thanks for your thoughtful reply mate, let me know if you have trouble choosing the H11's KIT. Mine was ebay $40. I,ve had this version, recommended by other Pajero owners in low beam for some time with no issue.(3yrs) And now will change Hi beams to LED (H11)allowing me to swap around from low to high should an issue arise with a broken unit on the road. My kings light bar stopped working 2 trips ago...surprise🤣So I'm sure the upgraded high beams will regain some of the lost lighting. Enjoy Ningaloo, we are headed for Fraser.@@gettingaroundaus

  • Hey Diesel. As has been mentioned here in the comments by many others, a 2” suspension will most likely fix a lot of the problems you covered in your video. Again as has already been suggested here, AirBag Man (the high pressure 60PSI version) will afford you adjustability of your camper trailer depending on your load at the time. I have installed a pre-rego 2” Dobinsons suspension 3.5T GVM upgrade (as commissioned by Malaga Suspensions in WA) on my Prado and tow a 15ft (3T ATM) hybrid caravan (yet to get a professional weigh done fully loaded) with HP AirBag Man airbags in the rear and have had no problems. I also have a similar ‘barn door’ (rear door) setup with spare tyre but don’t have any obstructions so can fully open the rear door. I’m also getting about 13L/100kms when towing but I’m yet to tow for any longer than about 2hrs of driving in a single stint so perhaps not a reliable indicator of fuel consumption

A suspension lift/upgrade will benefit you in many ways, increase your arr/dep angles, less body roll/dip/squat too and generally feel more pleasant to drive over the stock suspension. Plus it will open up more possibilities of where you want to take the car. Ive just got the Koni/Kings combo for my NW rated for constant load.

  • Thanks for putting up the content. Like others have said, you are past due a 50mm suspension upgrade. I am running a 2013 NW, and towing an MDC Forbes 13, I run the exact tyres that you have, I have the tow bar up the correct way and the Pajero loves it, she sits level and I can open my rear door over the hitch (DO35) and handbrake lever, but this wouldn’t be possible without my suspension upgrade (OME 50mm from ARB). I totally agree with your positives, and think all of your negatives will be solved with a suspension upgrade. You should check out the Lovells rear suspension upgrade that will also increase your ball weight.

  • I have a 2011 NW Pajero and tow a Coromal 455 semi offroad poptop caravan. It's also fitted with a Steinbauer injection controller which provides a longer injection period instead of higher fuel pressure for an estimated 20% improvement in torque. I've also added an EVC Throttle Controller which makes the vehicle much more responsive to the accelerator position. It's adjustable as to sensitivity also to suit the driver or situation. I've lifted the rear door 50mm to assist with access whilst towing too. Very happy with the vehicle and hasn't let me down since I purchased it 3 years ago, it's now got 180,000klm's.
