Almost 2 years out, came back, top scored and won the world cup in 2002. 3 back to back finals. If it wasn't for the seizure he would have had 3 world cups. If it wasn't for the injury it would have probably been 3 or 4. Played for multiple clubs. Didn't win champions league because he didn't play it every year for a single team. He left and went to other leagues where he could barely understand their language and was scoring at almost a goal per game until he got injured at inter. He won the europa cup. Messi and Cr7 has never won that because they played for the 2 best teams. Stop compare these one club players to the legend. Ronaldo is the greatest ever.

RONALDO joined them in World Cup 2002. He played 60% of each game (recovering from knee injury), became the TOP SCORER with 8 goals and won the World Cup 2002. Can any player do that ?

Stats don't lie... Pele and Messi are/were highly skillful players who are/were massively effective in games. But for me the best 2 players of all time were Maradona and R9 because they were hugely effective and as entertaining as it gets to watch. Special mention for Ronaldinho too who did some absolutely ridiculous things on a football pitch.

He is my favorite player ever. When he was at is prime before the injuries we had a glimpse of something truly divine. Kids nowadays as well as most people who forgot about this, aren't aware of his dominance. Ronaldo was absolutely destroying the game and redefining what a striker would become in the future. Ronaldo had THE SAME EVERY BIT OF SKILL as Messi and the power and speed of CR7. I was a young teenager when Ronaldo came to the scene and to this day, although CR7 and Messi will end up with much more trophies and accolades, none of them impressed me as R9 did. Might sound impossible to kids nowadays to consider this. Messi is a technically perfect player. CR7 is the most efficient machine there is. But if R9 was playing healthy today in teams as dominant as Barça and Real, he would score as much or more than both. And this without the free kicks of Messi or the headers of CR7.

When “El Fenomeno” is mentioned lots of people bring Messi or Christiano Ronaldo to the discussion. But when you think in detail: El Fenomeno has really two feet. Although his prime side is right, please look at his goals with left foot. You will see lots of goals from outside of penalty area. Maybe the guy has better right from CR7 and better left from Messi. In Inter he also scores lots of freekick goals. From Cruzeiro years you can also see ultimate head control in the goals he scored. He is fast, reeaaally fast when he runs. Maybe as fast as Bale. (For example Messi isn’t fast. He is quick but he is not as fast as even CR7 when he runs) And dribbling skills... He does not show-off. As İbrahimoviç says “He is natural”. He does not do any move just for showing skills like CR7 for example. When he fakes the direction he really sends the defender that way. For example the Elastico trick. Zidane says “He is the only footballer who can do Elastico while running”. We didn’t see these skills until he came. He had really bad injuries during his career but he obviously got at least one WC for his country while scoring a record for 15 goals. (Yeah I know he is not at the top now but I don’t want to mention the German guy’s name while I am talking about El Fenomeno). I know I wrote lot but to sum up: El Fenomeno is best for skills, speed, scoring with both feet and being there for important moments like winning WC...
By the way I didn’t even mention the best footballers’ admiring for the guy. One time Zidane said “Every training session I saw new unbelievable skill from Ronaldo”. Raul said “In training sessions I found myself standing and watching Ronaldo only.” Etc etc.
I always wondered why he didn't get to take many freekicks. Maybe it's because he mainly played the striker role (so he had to run towards goal when the freekick taker shot) and only at Inter when he was a number 10 he got the chance to take them. Of course he also had teammates on the midfield and defense that had amazing free kick technique: Roberto Carlos, Kaka, Ronaldinho, Zidane, Pirlo, Beckham, Baggio, Zanetti, etc.
