Who were the Mods and Rockers, What were teenagers like in the 1960s and 1960s vintage fashion.
Let's take an in depth look at two conflicting British youth subcultures and talk about who were the first subculture in Britain and how did that influence the Mods and Rockers of the 1960s. We will answer the questions what was life in Britain in the 1960s like and discover the history of mid century modern design. How to dress like a rocker how to dress like a mod and how these differences eventually led to violence at the British Seaside Resorts of Clacton and Brighton in the summer of 1964.
Let's explore the counterculture of the 1960s and find out who were the mods and rockers and why did they fight.

  • I remember reading an article from a website many years ago, which featured an ex mod and ex rocker talking about those times. They also mentioned that there were occasions, especially at the seaside resorts, where reporters would pay them to stage a fight, so it would give the newspapers a story. Depending on the scale of the staged fight, the payment for the mods and rockers could range from giving them a really good night out, to a down payment for a new scooter or motor bike.

    • They said that about my own, the Ted's, so I don't know how true that is. The Ted's had one excuse, WW2 psychosis, their world being destroyed in childhood by war 9:-Y

  • Hey Amanda, sorry to tell you but, you are wrong on at least 2 statements on your video: The Rockers were not an evolution of the Teddy Boys from the 50s, the Rockers were an evolution of the Ton-Up Boys from the 50s. 2nd: the term "rocker" was a term hurled at the ton-up boys by the Mods because they listened to 50s Rock-n-Roll music and not the music the Mods listened to.

  • I'm 61 years old (???) born in 1962 and love the 50's specially the music bikes and cars. They had a Little more style than the 60's. But now it's the 2000's and nowadays youngsters miss everything the elderly youth had then.😂😂😂
