Google Chrome is one of the most popular internet browsers across all computers, but most people only know about the most basic features. This video goes into several hidden lesser-known features and settings you may have not known about, but will be glad you do now. Some are very useful, and others are just for fun to impress your friends. Either way, now your computer's internet browser will be even more useful.

    • Sadly, I've been there. TRex isn't eh only game that you can play on Chrome, not sure how many are offline compatible though. (THat are built into the browser or search engine). I know even YT has a game to play on videos that are buffering.

  • Thanks for the tip about the mute feature. I had noticed the speaker icon, but unlike in Firefox, clicking the icon wouldn't mute the tab. That may have been my only real gripe with Chrome..and now it's fixed :)

  • @ThioJoe How about an easy way to run Chrome / Firefox / as much as possible 100% in RAM ? I use the portable Chrome version with Primocache on my hard drive D and system OS drive C. I get over 60% cache hits on both drives, sometimes 90% for the OS drive. This greatly speeds up the computer and reduces hard drive and SSD wear, enable the deferred write too and set to 600 seconds or longer. I've used 1800 or 30 minutes. You need at least 16GB to do this. Also the Tab Suspender helps if you have many tabs open like I don and Freshstart session manager.

  • For the fast tab closing, basically it closes the tab before running the code programmed to run when you leave, rather than leaving it open until it's done.

Back in my teens I was into electronics, then developing prototype devices, then in the early 80's started on computers and electronics. Now, well I custom build computers, and moderate on of the largest Cyber Security community learning websites in the world.     • The real shock is that you can actually DOUBLE YOUR RAM (at least) by just using software. Look up RAM compression.

    • Right click on the tab and select duplicate. :-) Hope that helps! That right click does wonders! Also, Chrome and various Google products have somewhat useful and interesting shortcuts. You can find them easily by doing a quick search for Google Shortcuts or Chrome or Gmail keyboard shortcuts. You might find it a great timesaver depending on what you do online, and how you interact with your browser and various sites. Sorry, I just realized your comment was posted over a year ago. :-/ Maybe it'll still be of help?

  • Hey, nice work :) @ThioJoe Do you happen to know if muting a youtube tab will interfere with the view count? I read somewhere that the audio must be at at least 50% to be counted as a view so I was wondering what exactly is muted. Thanks:)

    • As far as I know (I am not an expert in this whatsovever) the view gets counted as soon as you click the video, KZhead's analytics may see something like you described and decide not to recomend it, but it should still add the view
