The sportsmanship of Pavs. That smile in the handshake, feels so genuine.
@@loomis2774 she is. ☺️
absolutely, Anastasia is a good sport!!!
Laylah was still in a competitive mode just before the handshake :)
She probably saw her young self in Leylah. But yea, that was nice to see.
Love her
One thing I love about leylah is that she has GRIT. She also has that never give up attitude and tenacity. She might not have power (can definitely add more mph on serve) but her tennis IQ is on point, a real smart player.
Her mph is def not the issue take that last point for example she lacks consistency behind it if she can hit serves like that on the regular it would severely reduce tension on her service games
Don’t offend Henin like that
Remind me of Sharapova instead.
Oh that's right Henin is a cheater. Deleted.
@@bozzanovva1596 A cheater?? When and where? Not in any of the matches I saw
So inspiring to watch this warrior. I dont know but every time i watched Leylah’s game, im in tears. She’s a great fighter/athlete w/ a humble heart. Wishing her a good health for her journey. Congrats Leylah! 🙏🏻❤️
Leylah is such a joy to watch...she just uses every ounce of strength in her body for every point..I love her Never give up attitude!
Teah...and Radacanu took her apart.
Totally Got That Right!
This is it , she has found a key to the ladder, she realized that these top players are not better than her but what took them to the top is their mentality and tenacity so she bought a pair of those suits and Now she is traveling up there with them 🤞
Laylah found the key in the US Open, now it is to maintain the belief in herself!🇨🇦
Exactly. I remember that post-match on-court interview after defeating Naomi Osaka and I thought she was just another cocky teenager, but she truly meant that she believes in herself. She reminds me of young Nadal
Zamorah kalize. No, she is better than them. Make no mistake about it, her hand eye coordination and attacking tennis is unbelievable and she is fun to watch, actually she is an exceptional talent. Great hands, touch, use of angles and using pace. But she can still improve her serve. That's why she struggled to hold today (and in the USO). Once she gets more MPH on it and develops the consistency, look out. But until that happens I'm really excited to see what she can do on clay. A high bounce may impact her forehand but she takes the ball so early it may not be a issue. Her serve does not need MPH on clay, more placement and angles but she needs to improve it on faster surfaces
Her playing sudoku and rubik cube came in handy on the 3rd set. Carried all the mistakes and solved them every point she make. She's a problem solver I guess!
@@marianagaoka9687 Why would you think someone is cocky for believing in themself?!
Leylah's court skills are more mature than her age. She's more exciting to watch than any other players left in the tournament. 🏆❤️
Swiatek is better.
@@57too She is good, I'll give you that. Yet; Time will tell.
What a fantastic display of tennis from both! Leylah is such a star! She's a fighter, has a great game and very endearing personality. Hope she goes all the way!
I love how people always underestimate her because she doesn’t hit as hard as her opponents. She clearly can absorb the pace and redirect so well! That’s what she needed to beat her opponent
Leylah has the foot speed and taking the ball on the rise that takes the opponents time and redirect the shots consistently... So, she wins games because of her adequate mental and tactical habit and that has nothing to do with her physical structure.
yeah but thats people who dont understand tennis. Its the obession of the late 80's into 90s, unless you hit the crap out of the ball its not a good shot. Fact is hard hitters can be bouncced all across the court you just take the power and redirect - take the ball early and the 'heavy hitter' nicely tires themselves out for you :)
They underestimate bc they’re clueless their definition of “good” is screaming like a banshee while hitting a ball 100 mph every chance you get. Tactics and Patience wins games not erratic ball bashing remind me who’s number 1 in the worlds again and why she’s there.

Jesus what a match!!!! Was scared about her foot in the first and second set but she pulled through and outlasted Pavs. Also credit to her brilliant tennis from her it was a winners eclipse tonight
Ending the match with an Ace. What a comeback. 🏆❤️

i cant watch these kind of games live... i'd have a heart attack! Great showing, ladies. Congrats, Leylah!
One thing is for sure leylah will win a grandslam
One thing is for sure, leylah will never win a grandslam.
@@57too Here we go again>troll alert!
I won't say for sure, but Leylah needs to play better and get better. However I do feel that if she plays better and better she will win a title one day.
@@manuelwowchow1476 She kind of deserved that US open final but choked up against Raducanu Bc she was so close. There is no way she shouldn’t have been able to beat Raducanu after beating defending champion and 3 more top 10 players!!!
Leylah had so many epic, emotional points, she really deserves to be a grandslam champion
raducanu and leylah got me back to watching women’s tennis again. happy she’s thru the next round. she is just relentless and her never say die spirit so fun to watch. good luck on the next round lil lady, win or lose will be good for you experience-wise! go girl!
Same here....had little interest in womans tennis before....Emma and Leylah changed that....a lot :-)
@@GeorgeT370 happy for us😊 just hoping these two continue to improve!
@@tescuaycong2287 I´m sure they will ! Who do you see in front in the long run? Who do you think will be more successful? Emma or Leylah? :-)
@@GeorgeT370 raducanu has the clear advantage in height and power and her style of playing angles makes her the female version of djokovic. she has the makings of a tennis superstar, just hope that she has the right guidance and mentoring to hone her skills and not get distracted by fame and money. was disappointed in not seeing any one parent watching her even just for the finals at the us open! i wouldnt miss it for the world f i were her mom. leyla on the other hand altho lacking in height and power is so determined, her mental attitude so mature at such a young age, and i think will go far and will win her a major at some point. but her competitors are way bigger and powerful i worry for her in the long run. but love her spirit and enjoy her games. let’s hope she grows an inch or two😊
@@GeorgeT370 Emma is more powerful, with a killer backhand, but Leylah has a great game with the heart of a lion. Early days for both players.
Everytime you play Leylah i pray to God that give you power and energy we love you from your fan in the Philippines.
Wow what mental fortitude. Worth staying up late to watch Leylah be the warrior that she is 💪👏👏
damn she gifted tennis player. ... actually both of them are but leyla just put on a class tennis performance. kudos!
Leylah is GREAT for women's tennis she may be my favorite right now (in Serena's Absence lol)! That forehand of her's is brilliant! Such a compact swing yet she's able to produce such pop and sharp angles. Backhand is deadly as well not to mention she's a cheetah out there! She has a very contagious energy it's hard to not root for her.
Leylah is such a fighter, it's so inspiring to watch! She really just needs to get those serves a bit more under control. Her first serve % and double faults were really the thing during this match and against Raducanu at the U.S. Open that made her lose confidence and some momentum.
This girl is for real, she continues to hold her own and beat top ranked players that are way more experienced and mucu powerful strikers than her. Leyla’s game and shot making is way above her age. Her control of her nerves are astounding too. She’s like a lady version of Nadal that goes after every point and refuses to lose. Congratulations Leyla, see you in the next round and into the finals again!
She is like Nadal, but infinitely more interesting to watch.
I hope she wins the tournament
Just look at her eyes and you can tell the intensity, focus and determination to fight and win. Keep it steady, realistic and be on the ground Leylah. You have a long career ahead of you win or lose.
What a fighter! 😍 Leylah is the kind of competitor that would fight even if she couldn’t walk anymore. What a fearless giant slayer!! 🇨🇦❤️✊🏽 #NOFLUKE
OMG, Leylah plays like Rafael Nadal of WTA. At such young age, her mentality is on another level. Hope she'll win some Grand Slams in the near future.
Here's how to defeat a Top 10 player ! Congratulations, Leylah ! Greetings from a French admirer
@@zlmdragon. doesn’t matter she beat Osaka in us open already done that
@@zlmdragon. That doesn’t change the fact that Leylah, who is number 23, just beat a number 9 🤷 Or how do you want to play it now ? On words ? On rankings ?
@@zlmdragon. Pavlyushenkova was Nr 9 at Indian Wells. So stfu !
@Young Young Absolutely ! 👌
@@zlmdragon. Nobody cares which rankings she was in the past. Only the here and now matters. And at Indian Wells she was Nr 9 🤷
She might not have won the US Open but I feel shee'll be a much bigger player than Raducanu.
Think the same and I said it when she lost the final. She has something in her which makes me think it's just the beginning. She is a fighter. She reminds me a lot of Nadal. We will be talking about her ,no doubt about it.
Her draws were so tough at USO. At the final, there was not much juice left in her.
Leylah better shot selection, way more consistent then Emma and will have a better career.
Yes, she will always have a special place in your heart
@@seant873 TBH I think Raducanu played a very good match plus we should not forget that Raducanu also played more matches. She was coming from the Qualifyings. To me I feel Leyla has a more stable game and also as said by many she really has a strong fighting spirit which a big X factor on the WTA.
Congrats Leylah!! I thought she would lose because before the match I Googled Pavlyuchenkova and she is a multiple Junior GS champion, the level is no the same but she surely has plenty of experience winning several matches in a row. Leylah you are a warrior!
Age and size matters. It made you lose your ground after a long stretch.
She's literally the 9th seed of the tournament and you still had to Google? Ok.
@@matvejkap not everyone is a walking tennis Encyclopedia like you claim to be.
Leylah has the best stamina in WTA right now; her speed actually goes up a bit each set further, everybody else goes the opposite; therefore, nobody can beat her in 3 sets.
Novak mentality. The WTA players know her by now and i'm sure they afraid of her. the queen of 3 sets.
Nobody can beat her in 3 sets... ...except Shelby Rogers.
Leylah is just superb ! Just a thing of beauty 💞 playing great tennis !
Really enjoy watching the younger players play without fear. Great match, very close in the end, and thank you for loading this great match for us all.
Leylah💫 has a court personality🥳 thats larger than life. Love it, see and feel her passion and emotion. 💛💛
Leylah love's to go to 3 sets , such an awesome player at 19 year's, never gives in , her favourite shot is probably her drop shots, and the speed she has , plays like with a smile , very good to watch brilliant
You can’t give her the 1st set or you’re done!

Fantastic show by Leyla ..I love watching her games
Go go go leylah up to the finals, what a great match. Congratulations.
Love this young player so much! What an athlete!
if could generate more power in her first serves, she will be unstoppable .just love her tenacity.
Leylah definitely reminds me of Nadal' s winning mentality.Love watching her play.she definitely gives everything in every match.Guess what .Emma has already been knocked out?So if Leylah progresses to the finals .it is a pity that it wont be a rematch of the US open final. If Leylah improves her serve.she will definitely be a force to be reckoned with. She should say " vamoz" when she wins a great point.however her raising her one hand is her iconic way .I suppose.
Or vamos.
Don't forget her forehand is almost the same. The way she follows it through is very similar to Nadal. It wraps around the head/shoulder area.
Don’t be surprise if one day she say “ Vamos Carajo “ ❤️✨
Let's forget that US Open final, Leylah played 4 matches to 3 sets with several tie-breaks, she was obviously exhausted. There are plenty of GS waiting for her in the future, and she will win when the time is right :)
In one of her french interview she said one of her favorite movie is breakfast club , thus raising one hand :)
Superb mental strength to run down everything ball and fight for every point. Allez!!

It was nail biting match, still I believed Leylah will come out the winner. More tricks from Fernandez , she’s fun to watch and very lovable.❤️❤️❤️ALLEZ LEYLAH!!!
the new queen of 3 setter.. vamos leylah from the phils.. I hope that you bring home the title this time.. no more second best please you deserve more..
I was afraid that she was going to lose bc of her serve …but I am glad she won ❤️Tbh Pavlyuchenkova was prepared mentally and tactically for this match it’s just her stamina imo that cost her the match (Fernandez made her move so much). In the third set,it was apparent that she was out of breath and bc that, she was moving less well, she was less quick and less focus …but I am glad that Fernandez fought till the end…she’s so fun to watch 🙂Again congrats 🎉 from Canada 🇨🇦.
nothing wrong with her serve... i knew it was going to be close... you know why? i saw the practice between her and veronika kudermatova... veronika is sexy , strong player... leyla is quicker more agile and uses smaller spaces to her advantage. Nastia is not veronika but they have similar games... leyla will go far ... she is even much more quicker than genie was... and has better mentality.
Yeah she needs to drop 30 lbs
@@ceterisparibus6261 8 double faults with 49!% second serve with a low mph in average.
PavlyuCHUNKova is simply not fit enough 🙄
Maybe what helped her win was because she was loose. Glad she didn't lose.
Leylah has all needed to be a star : speed, reaction, technique, mentality, charisma 👍
2021 French Open Finalists versus 2021 US Open Finalists. Congratulations Miss L.A.(not "Los Angeles" USA😁). It's Leylah Annie. Wishing🙏😊 you have a good run🙌 in your debut in IW Singles and Doubles too. It seems LAF is destined to have more matches with top players in WTA. LAF is Female Rafa Nadal a southpaw playing in the court and "righty" when signing autographs. All the best LAF.
i did notice that too when she's signing, just wondering if her dad did an Uncle Toni Nadal trick on her, when she was younger.
@@acerg348 Yes👍😊. Hoping🙏🤞 she win this tournament. She's so good in hard courts and I watch her game in French Open too. She's good in clay too. Her Dad's military style of training fits in her game. She speaks fluently in Spanish and French like English.
@@oreicamarao5270 Yeah, I love her resilience and the bull like attitude fighting for every point, flashback of Rafa especially when he was younger. Didn't she win a French junior title?
@@acerg348 I was rooting for her in 2019 to 2020 before her breakthrough at US Open. I almost fell over my seat watching her near-miss match in French Open 2020 with fellow southpaw Petra Kvitova. Back then there's no too much media exposure or many stories to tell about her. Now, she's in the mix and step up her game, she is well prepared for her tennis game. I am so happy for myself that I was rooting for her before her US Open breakthrough. She's here to stay in tennis for a decade? and hopefully👏🙏 wins a Grand Slam🏆 someday. Man I fell asleep at 7-5, 3-3 and I really thought Leylah has lost. She’s a warrior
Entertaining match. I watched to the end and I am in EST (2am finish). I couldn't stand watching LF over the past few years as she has progressed up the rankings, as her pre-serve routine drove me nuts. However, her determination, fight, focus, and personality have won me over. I hope she can continue to get these results and progress her game further.
Love her attitude which never gives up every point and be her best. She deserves the win. Rooting for you Leylah!
She looks very small and cute but when she plays tennis she becomes a strong and bold warrior and facinates the crowd.
One of the most exciting matches I have ever seen. Leylah is so much fun to watch. She's always at a disadvantage in size and strength, has to win with skill, intelligence and determination. Her competitive fire reminds me of Kobe. I love her.
I hope she doesn't remind you of Kobe...because Kobe is dead..
I hope she’s able to stay injury free. Grinding out three sets per match can take a toll, especially with the way she plays.
Same as Nadal, right? I thought the same, but Leylah has an advantage as she is very small (meaning light) compared to men with big muscles so hopefully it will help her not get injured 'that' often.
Chances are she will get injured like CiCi Bellis - gotta bulk up
Hey she is winning in 3 sets because those ladies are top players with experience, top 10 or 20. This is normal. She will eventually improve with experience. She won her first match in 2 sets against Alizé Cornet who was unseeded.
Literally anyone would’ve had to play 3 if they wanted to win against Pavs today she was hitting winners left and right and not to mention she’s only had to play those 3 setters against top 20 and 10 opposition which for obvious reasons is hard to do.
@@lilnickydabaddest3451 True, although as a top 50 player, I'd imagine one would find themselves playing top 20 players often enough. She's just had to grunt it out so many times recently, going for near impossible returns. Plus, it seems like opponents are really learning that they can exploit the corner on her backhand side. She almost always goes for it, but ends up in some very awkward body postures as a result. That's what has me a little concerned.
She never panicked after losing the 1st set! She remained focused and continued to battle and in the end Leylah prevailed!!Great job idol!!❤️❤️❤️
Amazing! amazing match Leylah. The fight and determination this young lady has is truly outstanding. If you break her watch out. If you get to a third set watch out she more than likely is gonna win.😀
Giant killer continues her job!
I like how she positions herself inside or near the baseline ready to redirect and pounce that ball. Hope she continues like this and not be a pusher in the future.
She will if she stays uninjured
Such a great fighter marvelous leylah

Laylah has adrenaline still pumping just before the post-match handshake :)
She doesn't have the size and physical strength of many players, but her tenacity, technique of hitting early and shot selection are helping her fully maximize her talents. Hopefully she can keep it up and win a few slams.
