You gotta give us alittle more of the 3rd set. Good battle, Caroline keeps the pressure on ya. You gotta love her all around play.
Fernandez is still the princess of tie breaks (since that US Open)
she dropped outta the Top 50 since then
classic "just die" WTA trademark ™️ handshake strikes again
Fernandez has such an entertaining and visually appealing game. Just wish she could impose just a bit more. Her loopy off pace shots are frustrating to play against but when you get your footwork adjusted, they can be easily attacked. She’ll become more dangerous in the future for sure. Just got to figure out these power players is all.
I think that Leylah has room to grow and will be among the best in a short time
Agree completely.
What do you mean by loopy off pace shots? Felt she was blown away by Garcia in the first set…
@@thugzclub4070 I understand what he is saying. From the forehand side, she puts a big, upward loop in her swing and has the ball bounce along the left line. I guess that works against some, but once you expect it more, it is not a serious weapon. If you get over to it, she is dead down the left line....
by then she should be back down to the Top 50
Je ne me lasse jamais de ta célébration 🛫! Bien joué Caro 😃
Good to see Caroline winning and smiling!
Geeze. What happened in the 3rd set? Looked like Leylah had some momentum going into it and then a second later your edit shows she's trailing 1-5.
It's nice to watch the beautiful game of beautiful tennis players. 😍
Garcia was definitely the better player. Congratulations 👏
Absolutely, Fernandez will beat Garcia sometime but is not in Garcia’s level in the next few years.
Best highlight was the 3rd set 😂 suddenly 5-1 haha 😅
I was like WHAT 😂
Garcia was way above Fernandez !! Congrats my girl ❤🎉
Oh my god what was that handshake? Hmmph Great match overall, good fight, great strokes, and quite physical and agility from both. The level of play was really enjoyable!
I think Leyla was crying? Hence the brief handshake
@@richarddumoulin9269 yes, she was crying. If youve ever played tournaments you understand how difficult a tough loss is. But shes a pro, she should do better.
And she will I’m sure. She is gracious by nature. I think she has high hopes after winning the second set so it must have have a huge let down to let the third slip away so quickly.
@@rumcoke9123Did you watch the full match to know she was crying or you just judging from this? I think the sun was just in her eyes with her squinting.
@@jgooner8948 you may be right.
OUTSTANDING PLAY CAROLINE GARCIA KEEP IT GOING WIN 2023
How did we get from 1-0 to 5-1? I think it would have been nice to see one of the breaks of serve.
The first two games had the same duration as the next five, all won by Caroline including two serves without Leylah scoring a point. Leylah made a lot of mistakes in her two service games (three points scored in all) and Caroline made the break at the first possibility each time.
This happens a lot with these WTA Clips. Bizzare editing.
20 years old against 29 years old, a lot of things to happen within this period - so chances are high that Leylah Fernandez will be on the top of the ladder board when she becomes at least 25
😅
how did LF get into this tournament shes like under the Top 50 now
As always for Fernandez playing a top 10, close but not enough...
Close? The third set reads 6-1
The match went too fast to the end, with only five points scored by Leylah in the last five games.
@@seasaltlemon8237 yeah but she won 1 set and was in the game.
Bravo Caroline Garcia we love you 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩😘😘🤩🤩
Vamos García sigue así hasta el final
Her handlers just don't get it..she doesn't have the endurance to sustain long rallied games.she will be overpowered..her opponents know this and are making her run side to side....Leylah needs to give up doubles, especially in majors/grand slams
She can call the shots. I don’t know why she has to rely on her handlers.
She’s probably not good enough to lucratively play singles only. She’d have to play more events or consistently make rd-of-16s, for it to pay off
I disagree....she became so strong at the net...the doubles help her to become an all around player...and she´s so young an fit that she can take the amount of matches...so I think she`s doing it absolutely right...
@@GeorgeT370 for sure there are benefits to playing doubles, but she can do those in other events, when it comes to majors/slams, she needs to reserve that energy for her games..her petite frame needs to run side to side, if she's tired from the previous game she won't make it pass the 3rd rounds which happens often like in this case.
Love u caro❤️❤️❤️😍
Good effort by Leylah. Garcia tennis is good as of late though.
That last winner was a great way to finish the match!
Que" casualidad " que les toca enfrentarse otra vez mmm!!!!
Difficult for me to cheer either one when I love both of them. Someone had to win. Congrats, Sweet Caroline!
@@jesuslovesmebut8180 Lol, but there are other kinds of love.
Hoping Emma and Leylah in the final but failed, but she plays a good battle. God bless ur next journey Leylah. .🎾💖🙏
They're both one-time lucky.
They are good but in the final with this field? That's daydreaming ..
that final is way way way way way......................................................way off
@@andreaho yah LF has fallen in ranking so far almost as far as Emma has.
Bravo Caroline ! Allons-y
That was a great battle. But Garcia will have to step it up against tougher opponents.
LF is practically a scrub again
Still playing juniors style tennis. The top players are twice as strong, Leylah may never get to that physical level. Raducanu in this tournament looks like she's been working hard on the strength, the power the girl has incredible, she just needs to stay healthy for an entire tournament.
Leylah F must learn to hit to both corners more often. Attack the opponent by placing the ball to the corner, make the opponent run left and right.
Fernandez is the best pilipino player in the world
Leylah was battling against her mindset coz just lately she was defeated by Garcia and that is what i see something she wanted to overcome. Anyway just play your best Leylah and enjoy every moment of it❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍
ALLEZ GARCIA! I can't stand Fernandez. She's showing her true colors up at the net.
Caroline you can do it.
Whenever there is a huge time gap in these clips, it must mean the quality of the missing footage is really shitty and nothing worth highlighting about. Apparently WTA edits these coverage in order to drum up the quality of play
As I have said many times, Leylah has the attitude, and the fire inside on the court, but unfortunately she is not enough talented to beat the elite players in a consistent basis. His US Open final was a complete aberration few years back. I still insist that she does not have the strength to overpower or compete one to one with the elite players, which is a must nowadays. I wish I could be wrong, but this is reality, and the facts have shown that.
Agree: Leylah lacks a single, decisive weapon to take full advantage of her otherwise good tactical skillset: notably, even Martina Hingis (a similarly gifted player, but on a higher level) had the incredible backhand to finish off both easy & decisive points.
Valid comments but I see her developing a style that catch many players off guard. So many matches turn into slugfests of who can hit the ball harder. She on the other hand plays an intelligent game of speed and placement and being a lefty helps. What I see lacking is her not playing fearlessly. I think (hope) she keeps honing her skills and gets to and remains a top twenty player for years to come. Always entertaining and interesting.
@@alamin-fr8rc Valid comment, but I still think she is not talented enough to beat in a consistent basis the elite players, because she does not have the power or weapons to do so. She has been multiple times overpowered by the elite players. Of course, she is and will be a good player, with always good attitude and fire on the court, but unfortunately seeing her in another GS final will be a tall order to be honest. How in this world will she be able to beat Sabalenka or Iga, etc? it will be impossible, unless some of them have a day off on court that day.
Leylah is a good girl,… muy Bonita muchacha as well,… 👏✌️👍🙏😎
yah shes alright but the reality is shes fallen to tourament padding scrub status
Garcia from side to side. L Fernandez deserves to win
A vast advancement from Leylah Fernandez even though she couldn't gain this 3rd showdown against Garcia. Leylah needs a little more time to reach a higher point. I am confident that she will be more perseverant, valiant and resilient in the forthcoming periods.
i dont see it. I think she will continue to slid down to the Top 50s
Never thought Leylah would be that salty at the end of a match. She is normally quite nice win or lose
@@scout7060 I think she was crying?
She’s known for being salty. remember her US open behavior towards Emma? 😊
If ever that's true, why can't she? Her emotions are valid at that moment since it is so frustrating for her. But it doesn't mean she hates Garcia.
Leylah is usually salty after a loss. Of course not Ostapenko/ Coco Wandeghe level salty.
@@fritzdc6769 I agree! I know I’d be pissed myself for losing after trying so hard. I never understood these happy players smiling after a loss. I’d shake and walk. I would be ultra frustrated.
Whoever does the editing, FIRE THEM! Lately the highlights sucks. it's like the person hates his/her job and just puts something together in 1min....
Bring back the good highlights, 3rd set with only 2 shots showed... 🤦
The match went too fast to the end, with only five points scored by Leylah in the last five games vs twenty by Caroline.
They should make it 6 mins so if it’s 3 sets they can have 2 mins for each set on average.
In the third set, the first two games had the same duration as the next five won by Caroline.
Did they miss the 3rd set? Not good highlights. They typically start out with a few replays when we can replay all day long on youtube. Do better WTA.
It's going going to be a tough battle in 3rd set....... Score : 1(00) 5(40) * Wtf
Is Leylah retiring her father from the coaching staff😮
Yet again some crazy editing? Is a computer algoritim doing this?? From 1 all to 5-1 match point in 2 seconds!! Just bizzare.
She tried extremely hard but was too small, too weak to compete against such an attacking player.
she is very small
Did Leylah cry?
could be sweat in her eyes she does sweat perfusly during a match i mean to the point she gets soaked. When Iga destroyed her she was dripping with perspiration i mean glowing
I am waiting for Emma and Layla to make a deep run at any tournament.
No
@@uletitlinger lol, you are so certain 😅
2022 Roland Garros?
Emma has won 3rd round against Beatriz.
It would sure silence a lot of haters out there 😂
Im a fan of Fernandez but she needs a new team. When youre dad or mom has been your coach for awhile and youre not really succeding like you once did, then somethings just not improving time to move on.
yah thats probably Puffs problem also dont get me wrong I am hard on Puffs but thats only because of the hype she gets which is totally unjustified. I feel sometimes even she doesnt like it. When you want to forge your OWN career but the media is insisting that your THE NEXT SERENA its kind of insulting and even a little racist just because they are both POC. I am certain Coco wants to have HER own identity not a Serena shadow. I deep down want to see her succeed more thats why i am so hard. She should tell the media to back off.
Handshake was a little frosty there...👀
I think Leylah was almost crying because the match went too fast to the end, with only five points scored by her in five games.
@Éric JÉRÔME True, she seemed to have fallen apart at the end there. Sad to see, but that's the game sometimes 😕
its the ive had enough losing handshake when im supposed to be hyped to win everything
@@ericjerome860 i dont want to see her cry!
Such terrible match editing. One moment it's "absolutely brilliant from Leylah Fernandez" at 0-1 in the final set, and in the next breath Garcia is serving for the match at 5-1.
Fernandez needs to improve on her fitness. She is too slow. It affects her response time. That is why at her height where she could dictate play, she gets pushed around with caroline's speed and good angles, which leylah also lacks.
@Jeane Naisse Not so much a fitness issue, but more of a "you can't win in tennis by repeatedly being on the defensive": no, not even Rafa/Joker/Murray win playing like that. Leylah's lack of a single, decisive weapon is what really hurts her here (her tactics are generally quite sound and smart).
@@tungt88 i know they are in an elite level of tennis, but in my experience as a tennis enthusiast and as i play tennis and improve on my fitness, strength & speed, i gradually began dictating plays and dominating my opponents in games because i was fit, fast enough to react and create opportunities for me to make winners instead of trying to catch up with the ball and returning them without any good angle (just put the ball in). Fitness, strength and training all play a part.
I feel like I’m going to have a PANIC ATTACK watching Leylah play tennis like girl, Your intensity is giving off weird vibes 🥺
I just watched the end, knew leylah gonna lose...
@JesusLovesMe But Rybakina gets the Sunshine Double and rides into the top 5 where she belongs
I think Fernandez thought she was going to come in and take over when she ended up in the 2021 US Open final, but that hasn't worked out for her.
I don’t really like Leylah’s attitude. She never gives credit to the winner.
I got dizzy watching hippity hop bouncing on the court. Good riddance.
she needs to stop that its probably why she looks soaked all the time she sweats really heavy
Emma won her match.
gg la pour perdre apres contre cistrea...srx elle est trop nulle cette garcia ..,elle vaut pas mieux que les autres ...c n importe quoi cette wta
Has leylah's game dropped over the years? She isn't as good as I thought she was.
It’s just you. she was never that good. Better luck next year.
lol vs top 5 opponent. wta is very unpredictable, matter of consistency is the difference
@@michelleinfo-vlog2449 similar results or records. I would say she’s really good in her own league. She already maxed out her potentials. She can beat some top 10 once in a while & in WTA500 tours.
yah ill say shes dropped down to the 50s in rank and is pretty much now a scrub for the top players
@@michelleinfo-vlog2449 Google says she is ranked 53 now so shes fallen even outta the Top 50s. I remember she was 35 a month ago right?
Mostly boring, service games.More interesting in the end
Here WE GO AGAIN CAROLINA ! ARE YOU GONNA HIT THE WALL NEXT ?..LEYLA ,NOTHING DOING. MOM WINS ALL THE TRIPS AND PERKS !
fernandez has the angst thst i dont like really... i dont love garcia but she is better and nicer off court
good job Garcia to send this cocky Watamala girl packing home
Fernandez - fake
well done Caroline!!!!!
