Can I suggest for someone to nominate Anthony Albanese, Australia's prime minister, for him trying to force Elon Musk to censor X? There's been a war of words between the two and Elon has taken the Australian Government to court over free speech. The primr minister has called Elon an egotistical, narcissistic billionaire that is out of touch with the people.

Never understood these MPs ' advisors ' people. If a MP gets elected then has to hire an advisor to tell them what to do. Shouldn't the advisor be the MP. Save on one wage at least.

The Robin Hood activists remind me of the hilarious story last year about the planks who glued themselves to the floor of a car showroom in Germany. It's the best way to deal with their tantrums. My children only ever had one tantrum in public - I'd just walk away and leave them (while keeping a close eye on them). They stopped and never did it again. I'd see other parents begging their children to stop having a tantrum, but you can't reason with a toddler. These activists are just big toddlers having a tantrum, so everyone should stop pandering to them.

I was a student at Exeter University from 1966 to 1969. We were expected to share our ideas and debate rationally, even to play 'Devil's Advocate', arguing contrary views we didn't actually hold. However, the most worrying thing about this situation is that someone, who wasn't involved in the conversation, told tales. Disgusting! 🤔 This is Orwellian '1984' stuff. Why would anyone do this? Shameful. Is there something we don't know about this? Does the tell-tale have a personal grievance?
We were encouraged to grass on each other during lockdown. Some delusional people actually believed that the government were being honest with us and it was for the good of the nation 🤷♂️

@@RichardBates-wd3if sorry, I have to explain my comment, but obviously here it is. It wasn’t about which one is helping more but the hypocrisy of Sadiq Khan’s arguments. If he really believed the effects of climate by these cars, which if he did, would mean affecting all the world population and harming it, he wouldn’t recycle them in another part of the world, where they would have the same effect. It’s not the point to compare a war to a environmental pollution, but rather that if you are really concerned about climate, you would not « help » with smth you consider harmful.
@aneliaprodanova I understood your comment, it is a fairly obvious one. Just that these cars could really save lives, not the virtue-signalling lies that Khan spouted about thousands of people dying every year because of cars.

Very accurate, no shouting over each other, it was lovely and still as amusing.
Regarding postmen/women wearing shorts. I wondered about this until I became one some years ago. I can't speak for everyone but I found that it was just practical. Because there are so many steps on a walk (inside term for a postal route), your knees would sweat and stick to the trousers, this would pull the waistband down and you were then forever hauling your trousers back up. This was especially bad if you had a lot of flats to deliver to. With shorts your knees either aren't in contact with the fabric or they stay dry from air circulation The result is that they stay in the correct place. Mundane but true!

The fact that the university owns the student accomodation is irrelevant. Would a landlord be justified in evicting or otherwise penalizing a tenant because they allegedly said something in his property that he disagreed with? Exeter University is losing credability as an academic institution. These stories make it sound more like a cult compound.

When I was in Royal Mail we asked what was so green about swapping bikes out for vans now they're trying to make out they're reducing their carbon footprint but the management were the ones who increased it

the whole "diverse companies have higher profits" concept begun after the "McKinsey Group study of 2015" and has been debunked by other studies that could NOT replicate the results. Most companies that went full on down the Diversity road saw a negative result in their profits. However, more profitable companies did find that with success they organically became more diverse and not the other way around.

Apparently postmen wear shorts because if they're going up a garden path with overhanging plants which have been rained on, if the plants touch their trousers the water wicks up the trouser leg making them very uncomfortable to wear.
