Thanks for watching, you legend you! 👌
I made this video so long ago and my content has improved massively since then but for some reason the KZhead Algorithm hates me (Plays sad violin sounds) and I wanted to ask if you could help by checking out one of my latest videos as I genuinely work really hard on them and feel you would enjoy it.
If you could watch one new video and if you like it, comment to let me know and maybe subscribe as I now make regular solid content. If you don’t like it, that’s fair too and I will leave you be 😊
After getting comments with people asking how I got to the level I am at on Beat Saber, I thought I would put together a little video!
So, here are my Top Ten tips that I learnt and used to get myself from completing Easy difficulty all the way through to now Expert+.
For all other Oculus Quest game coverage with funny edited videos, check out my other videos on the channel and if you like what you see, consider subscribing and keep you eye out for future game content.

  • I just got my first Expert+ clear after practicing a section about 20 times on slower speeds. Highly recommend that one. I just wish Beat Saber had something closer to the Riff Repeater in Rocksmith 2014, where you can choose just a section instead of just a timestamp, and you can have it automatically speed up if you clear it a certain number of times with no mistakes. That would be perfect.

    • Yes, exactly what I do. It's almost like you looking both at where you're currently striking and what you're about to hit. It becomes natural like driving a car, how you can see your surrounding while still maintaining your main focus on the road. I've noticed that after I start getting tired my playstyle changes too, as my arms are harder to lift in front of me and I end up doing more striking from the side out of my field of view. This changes things a little bit because as you're falling behind on the notes and you're hitting from the side it becomes more difficult to keep up. I just wish I didn't have to be so aggressive in the beginning but I just get so into it. It probably last longer if I can mentally train myself to flick the wrists instead of moving. I can just start playing the game with my arms in front and end in the back and it's not from being able to not keep up it's from my arms being so exhausted I can't lift them anymore so I play more from the sides because it seems to be the only motion I have left at that time. Flicking the the rest doesn't always work for those hard to reach notes still have to move those arms around a bit no matter how much flicking you do. So I suppose I'll never be able to play beat saber and indefinitely, what a downer.

  • I just forced myself onto expert+ by just trying every song.. and switching back to expert on the more tricky ones.. then just decided to play the game on No Fail expert+ for weeks until i remembered to turn it off.. After that i could breeze through every level expert+ no problem. i found the battery was too punishing and it pushed me away from higher difficulties at the start. So for anyone reading.. give no fail a try for a while

      @optimaulindy7433@optimaulindy74334 жыл бұрын
    • No fail is a great way to practice rhythm games, because it doesn't force you to practice in sequence. With fail on, when you get stuck on one part you can only improve at everything up to that part, until you can pass it. No fail let's you practice every part a few times through, so you know what to focus on in training mode. It's also more fun to get through an entire song instead of hearing the first minute 20 times in a row.

  • These are all excellent tips! I have an 2 important tips that I'd like to share as well. 1. Pace yourself. It's easy to get tired from playing this game. If you notice after awhile that you're starting to feel sore and you're not keeping up with notes that you would normally be able to hit just fine, take a break. Do something different for a few a hours or come back tomorrow. No one masters this game in a day and it can be easy for some to get discouraged trying a harder difficulty and thinking "I'll never be able to play on that difficulty..." It is a real workout and you have to build up to it. 2. Have fun with it! As mentioned in this video, these songs generally have a flow to them. One way that really helps me get into that flow is to immerse myself into the song. Bust a move if you have to! You'll have fun and start memorizing the flow too. Makes it seem a lot less like exercise. It sounds silly, I know. But it helps, it really does.

  • You forgot one... I notice with some new players that they don't ever look ahead, but will stare at the blocks they are about to hit instead. It helps if you look into the distance so you know in your head what you're going to do. That way when a block comes and you hit it, you have a smooth arm motion going to the next block, instead of having to check what block it is.

    • @@austincroslow8979 Same. I'm at the point where most Expert songs on the OSTs are super easy for me, and I'm able to beat Hard on some Camellia songs. I just gotta practice and stuff. Probably try the slow-mo tactic and build a muscle memory. I find my main problem is that I end up focusing too hard, and then just start tunnel visioning the very next note, so if there's another cut immediately after, I have 0 prep time for it.

    • @@sniclops15 One thing that's really holding me back is that I (for some reason) can't figure out the fast up-down-up-down blocks. Sometimes even if they're slower. My almond brain just can't comprehend swinging up and down on beat really fast. Then the mfs make the notes go from side to side just to rub it in

      @austincroslow8979@austincroslow89792 жыл бұрын
    • @@sniclops15 I’m pretty much the same way. I can do expert for most of the songs, and hard for the camellia songs. I found that turning on No fail and not worrying about the score or how many times you miss helps you get practice with the song and improve. Besides, no fail doesn’t affect your score unless you deplete the battery, so if you win you win, whether you turned on No fail or not.

  • This is definitely the best Beat Saber improvement video I've seen! However, two things that really helped me but you don't really mention are 1. No Fail Mode which really helped me as it stops you crashing out of the game at a difficult part but you still get to practise the rhythm better than slowing the song down in Practice Mode & 2. Relax and Have Fun which you can also do in No Fail Mode. It's amazing how the blocks seem to slow down the more relaxed you are to the extent that they almost seem to pause in mid-air just before a difficult section!

One was on Expert, and one was on Expert+. But I had only been playing for literally 1 and a half day. On my 3rd day I could complete both songs and I found that playing songs on easy and normal is just pretty boring because it's way too easy to get a full combo.

However, there are blocks on the left side too and you need to wait a little bit before you put your arm down Edit: During Beatsaber (song) there is this part which I still try to hit blocks but I know I can't get a full combo. • Something that might help with that no dexterity left hand or vice versa for those left-handers. Play one-handed mode and use your left hand(or right). And you can go back and forth between your left hand and right hand on the same song doesn't really switch things up that much. The idea behind this though, is that in one arm mode the notes become more precise and will train your aiming. I figured this out by dropping one of my controllers in my drink one dreadful day. Because of all the price gouging on new controllers I couldn't afford a new one for a few months. So after going from one arm mode and back too two arm mode, it will seem like you're just flapping your arms around with not much required skill. My problem is my age. I just can't seem to break that expert barrier. Can't move that fast, too old and out of shape. And come on some of these songs that these map makers release are just retarded insane hard. The flash couldn't complete it. I don't play for the leaderboards, I just play for my own well-being and entertainment. I do post the occasional personal victories in case anybody wants to watch a old man struggle to keep up. I'm disabled so I don't really play with walls can't do all that bending. I did at first but it seems like just a nuisance. I love complexity in the notes and the way certain songs get you moving and grooving. I'm just glad no one can actually see what I'm doing in in reality because I look ridiculous. I look like a penguin trying to fly like his life depended on it. I recorded myself one day so I was curious regretted ever since. I don't like letting others watch me play. Most people don't don't even know what VR is and they just don't understand. Been waiting all my life for this technology. The man is a great Apple sorry for those who refused to try to understand the sheer immensity of unbelievable things you can do in VR. And oh my God the porn....INSANE.🤯. Anyways I love music so I saw the quest and beat saber as an opportunity to get off my lazy ass and exercise. Sitting around watching TV all daqy wasn't doing it. My skinny ass actually started getting fat. 😳😳😳 I know right nothing but a pencil until I can't work no more. I'm addicted to this game, I play till my arms won't move anymore. I know you're not supposed to play when you're tired but I just can't put it down until I'm so exhausted I can't do it anymore even though I want to. I got over 2,000 songs downloaded and I still haven't managed to get through the entire list.

  • Most important I've learned while playong this game for 3 days: most drops in expert+ have patterns. Learn them by slowing down. Once you got the pattern and know how to hit, speed up until normal speed. Why is it so important? Having multiple patterns in your muscle memory, it will automatically adapt to others you never saw. I played 3 different hard songs on expert+ , well only the tricky drops. After that, I returned to a song I haven't played in long. Never was able to reach beyond 30s, but this time i almost completed it without knowing it's drop. My arms moved by themselves.

  • These are really good tips! I found that I've thought of a lot of these on my own, basing my Beat Saber strategies partly on my experience learning violin. It might sound kinda out there, but both of them are based heavily on muscle memory, so any strategies for aiding muscle memory can be applied to both things. For example, playing the song slower, then speeding it up by notches. Or breaking down specific sections you have trouble with.

    • It’s fun to watch these videos after reaching Expert+ myself. And I’d like to offer a few tips in this reply comment to those learning. 1. If you’re experiencing lag, turn on static lights as well as Reduce Debris, those settings result in a lot of lag and they were how I avoided and still do avoid lag on PSVR (early players know how bad it would lag before it was heavily optimised) 2. When flicking, your wrist works best on right angles, if you make your hand into a karate chop thing, essentially it rotates on the wrist well in a patting motion, and a waving motion, rotating your arm from your shoulder is a skill you will need to learn quickly to avoid pain in your wrists. 3. Trying it on a harder difficulty is difficult on expert+ , if you don’t have the patience to go through section by section, turn on no fail and faster song, then go ahead and play the song a dozen times, when you slow it back down it will feel easier. 4. A common trap you may find yourself in is low effort swings, At expert+ and Expert (sometimes), you can’t finish songs with a very high score without some effort. Finally 5, after slashing a block in the direction desired, it’s actually better to begin deviating towards the next block as you slice through it, when done properly the game gives you extra points for it (also mentioned in the campaign.). This was likely done to force players to slice more fluidly, making it a better experience. Anyway, enjoy yourselves.

Its what helped me beat my first expert plus, and really helps build muscle memory for a part of a song, and now i’m using rum and bass expert plus for my warm up. Also that one about not panicking is pretty good too, beat saber is kinda like swimming, if you panic there’s a 75% chance you’re gonna die

  • (if u skipped over or miss this) One thing to look for is seeing if the song seems a bit slow or the blocks seem like they’re coming at you slower. I been playing for around 2-3 months and started playing on Hard mode (skipped campaign) and never played before, so it was definitely different in my case but once I noticed the songs seemed slower, I moved onto a higher difficulty. I just started Expert+ this past week and have beaten 3 songs with an A. These tips are definitely helpful.

If you could watch one new video and if you like it, comment to let me know and maybe subscribe as I now make regular solid content. If you don’t like it, that’s fair too and I will leave you be 😊

  • This is from a year ago so many might not see this but this could be a useful trick as well. I’ve been on Expert for around 3 - 4 months and said I would never make it to expert +. I finally made it and it’s awesome. I don’t know how but u did make it and this is what I did. I watched a lot of videos of people playing Expert+ songs and getting FC on them. For some reason this helped me get to Expert+. When moving up difficulties because you are tired of the other difficulty and they are too easy then put on No Fail and Slower Song. Practice the song until you are able to hit all the notes then take off slower song. Play with no fail until you get that muscle memory. The best song to get onto expert+ first is a song you love and also find easy to do on other difficulties. This may not work for some but I have made it to expert + with these tactics and I’m sure they will work with others! I did skip the campaign but still do it

Which was when i could in fact already play Expert+ but i might link this to family members who still struggle to beat any stage on hard. Let alone expert+. Thank you for this video i appreciate it.

  • Just did a grind session of Linkin Park's giving up of the part right after the scream drop. The tip about going faster than normal speed totally helped. Started at 75 to figure out what the hell I was doing. Then I bumped it up to 130 with instant restart on fail until I got used to it. For the first time I've been able to pass a single Lincoln Park song on hard. Thanks to you. 🤠🍻 GG
