Wouldn't it be funny if the devs took a piss outta the buggy air burst cannon by saying, "Due to the civilians being rushed and attacked by the relentless automatons, the prototype air burst cannons Helldivers are currently using are malfunctioning and require further testing before being deployed in the field"
with that excuses we at least ok with it but at least give us a warning first cuz 5 minutes in and we lost 10 helldivers due to testing
Worth noting it's not a flak cannon. While flak is a type of airburst, not all airburst are flak. Flak is anti air. This weapon is a cluster bomb, and is anti infantry.

@@Blaz1ng_Phoen1X That or bad turret placement... but honestly it's all down to knowing when and where it's best to use the big weapons. I play with randoms and honestly the community is pretty good at avoiding team killing the vast majority of the time.

@@Blaz1ng_Phoen1X High levels we usually know the best stratagem so friendly fire isn't even a problem aside from the 300mm & Incendiary shotgun in my experience.. Sometimes rover can catch you or a teammate
Well, if they get shot by my turret, it is their fault. I spot the turret and say where it is, and people just run in front of it. And the 380 is still kinda bad. I was in a game today, and we landed by a gunship tower and as I was calling in the hellbomb the guy called a 380 on it. I got the bomb off without dying but it was such a bad move from him
Tarkov promised that everyone who bought the Edge of Darkness pack would gain access to all future dlc. Now with the 250 dollar thing they are trying to argue that it isn’t a dlc. To make things worse, in the 6 years Edge of darkness has been out, they have only gotten one free dlc.

They've now changed it so people who got EoD get a 6 month trial of the PvE mode and 6 month trial of server priority to try and get them hooked and spend an extra 250 afterwards, how incredibly, unbelievably generous of them, I might just have to drop helldivers to spend 250 on it

Glad to hear the spear is getting fixed. The only reason I haven't been using it is the spotty lock on. Looking forward to rocking it on bot missions.

Anyone else feel the game sometimes spawns specials that have more hp pool than others like some bile titans tank so many hits and so do chargers as well.
It feels more like it's because of wonky hit models, sometimes your stratagems hit their targets well and other times it feels like it hits a spot where it fails to properly register the hit and therefor feels like it does no or low dmg.

The game isn't perfect. I literally have video's of titans & Hulks spawning out of nowhere , kill me , then vanish instantly right after 🤣 I only play helldive so it's a whole different world . I can one shot a bile titan in the face . Or I can shoot it 5 plus times with two 500shells 🤣 I love the game but there's so many bugs but I still play I'm not complaining

Fun fact, a single well placed shot by the Airburst Rocket Launcher can completely destroy the Jammer Tower. I don't play Automatons much so idk if you can do this with all explosive weapons but yeah. I aimed at the bottom of the part that turns when i fired, once it made contact the missle burst and destroyed everything. Hope this helps you fellow Helldivers Edit: According to another person I got a very lucky shot and what happened was one of the cluster fragments hit the fabricator next to the jammer that lead to destroying it. I don't know if this is 100% true but might be the case.
I think what you saw was a lucky shot into the fabricator. As far as I know the jammer can not be taken out by direct hits but if you blow up the fabricator next to it it gets destroyed with the fab.
@@PsyCrowX probably that's what happened. I aimed at the middle of the tower and maybe one of the fragments of the cluster hit the fabricator ur mentioning

That does bring up a big thing that not everyone knows, don't worry about the jammer if there's a fab right next to it. A grenade or rocket is faster than a hellbomb.
no stylosa you are wrong. it doesn't detonate due to terrain. it detonates early due to random level objects. if there is a stack of boxes, a random tea spoon or a lawn chair between you and the intended target it will detonate early.
Well no, if you count vertical rocks as terrain then yes terrain does trigger it as well as plants.
A blade of grass detonates it early hahaha.

I use the spear now even with the issues due to its ability to one tap bile titans chargers brudes and if they fix it to where it locks on properly an consistently. I bet it will become the most used weapon after.
Eh I doubt it. Quasar will still most likely be first choice for most. Simply due to Spear needing a backpack and requiring you to stop to reload.
Crazy that they can easily make a lore accurate explanation for buffing the airburst. We only get them because we're liberating the planet they're being developed on so the ones we have are unfinished prototypes. I think a good fix is to nerf the radius and let it easily wipe out the medium armored enemies like devastators. Also make it less sensitive.
wipe out devastators? no. Kill an airship within 1 rocket? yes.

Just make it activate on contact. And when its activate it should fire its load UP and then it should rain down. Like mines do.

The issue is the proximity feature in itself. Technically with how proximity works, it is working how it really would but that doesnt really fit into the game really at the moment.
Wdym? It one shots all the enemies in a dropship It also kills all your fellow helldivers I’d say that very much fits in the game
I look at the airburst this way: It's an airburst. You carry around. Like the orbital airburst or the eagle cluster bombs. Use it for the same stuff only you manually aim and reload it instead of it being a call-in.

Either that or a two trigger system. First click fire, second click engage air burst unless it lands on a surface first
Or they could give it two fire modes, proximity detonation or impact detonation. Maybe make it fire in an arc?

It's literally an eagle cluster bomb on your back to free up that strategem slot for people who love it
But it literally cost a strategem slot to use it and it's way more inferior than the eagle. I'm getting 50 plus kills on helldiver with the eagle. I don't see the point in using this over the cluster strike
@@joshuacaserta7626 honestly I've gotten pretty similar performance and what I should of been more clear on is it frees up space on your eagle. Less abilities tied to the eagle makes it so you can roll the cool down faster to use your abilities. Assuming you take 2 or more eagle abilities

This was kind of my problem and why I didn't participate in the order to decide the weapon we unlocked. "Airburst Rocket" and "Anti-Tank Mine" are specific enough to give me an idea of what it should/could do, but it's also ambiguous enough where they can also just do something that is outside the definition of both. This current experimental airburst is more of a proximity cluster burst. It goes near something, disperses little bomblets from the war head and then those explode dealing damage. I think the common misconception that was given from leaked videos was that this would be like anti-air rockets that would take down gunships, dropships, and shriekers really easily. That's why I didn't want this initially. It looks like a definite crowd clearing option with a very high risk, so-so reward. I'm not saying the anti-tank mines would have been so much better, but we'll have to see once we do get those because it doesn't make sense for Arrowhead to make content to just never release it or for it to be trashbinned a week later (looking at the gunships and factory striders when they were first introduced and then a literal few days later we kicked the Automatons off the map.) So I'm just hoping the Anti-tank mines are a bit closer to what I'm thinking they are, which are that they only trigger under heavier loads and they pack a much larger boom. So you, a scavenger, a commissar, a raider, a hunter, and possibly a warrior can't set off the mines, but everything else can and it'll deal a big amount of damage to them (meaning charger feet get shredded, bile titan's actually get hurt from their toesies, hulks get an explosive enema, and devastators can suck my Anti-tank mine.)
i was doing the uploading data side obj. clear area around. went to fire this airburst, towards a small automaton factory base area. well, it immediately exploded and killed me. i was aiming up just enough to aim for the top of the factory. lol
I gotta say, even bugged, the airburst rocket launcher is fun as hell. Sure, you cannot shoot far with it, but you can charge in to a horde of bugs, scream "For democracy" and blow up yourself and everything around you.
You know what I really want? Anti-air sentries. Basically a spear sentries, but configured to be anti-air or armor only

I used the ARL against the bugs this morning, and it works great for clearing around bug nests, and breaches

If they want it to be good, or better, they can change it to be controlled by players by holding the fire button until it either reaches a max distance or the player let's go of the trigger to explode instantly.
I can see it be useful on elimination missions againsr bugs on the open map.😊
It can be used to take out groups of smaller enemies, but with some finesse, can be used to take out larger enemies and bot factories. The key is to fire it perpendicularly and adjacent to the target (i.e. the back of a hulk or front of a factory at a 90 degree angle).

It would be good if the weapon could explode on user command, like launch missile and click button again for it to explode.
It's pretty effective as anti infantry weapons if you make sure to have some distance so it doesn't take you out in the explosion
There should be a grenade launcher meant for launching stratagems much further away.
Or........ maybe have some sort of passive on armor that allows you to throw strategems up to 70-90 meters as opposed to your base 30m.

Did a bit if testing with it and it takes 3 airburst missiles to kill any flying enemy and if you wanna use it for ground targets best range ti not kill you ir your teammates is 60meters
It should be like the scopes based on distance, you change the distance traveled options by holding the reload button.

The ABRL needs an arming delay of 30 meters. so it doesn't detonate until it travels that far away from launch.
Use it with the same caution as you would with the 120mm barrage. For the same target's as you would use the airburst bombardment. Works fine if you use it like that.
It should have 2 modes. Proximity and Manual burst. Have it to where you hold down trigger for travel and release to detonate.
Sadly a lot of disconnect problem on Bugs today out of 7 games 5 disconnects
Clusters are good against planes too... should be good against medium armor as well if theyre going for what they type of launcher is good at
I can def see using the airburst rockets against the bugs for fast patrol or fast group kills without having to get close enough to alert them but man against bots unless your solo it can make a mess of things if your team doesn't communicate XD.
It's going to be limited use against enemy bases because bug hole clusters and factory encampments tend to be on high ground behind walls or crater rims. Without some kind of arc to the flight path you're going to wind up throwing air strikes and orbitals a lot of the time anyways
You have to use the shield generator relay if you use the airburst RL, and it still isn't a guarantee to keep you alive
To actually make the airburst work, I think it should NEVER detonate until it has reached more or less 30 meters from you. Ofc, it must always explode on impact, like on a wall or an enemy.
So glad we picked this thing over the actually useful mines.

They've released this to the players now, and im dissapointed to say that, in an area VERY dense with enemies, it took two rockets to kill any enemies, and even then it only killed three bugs.
(Without the bugs, obviously) This weapon could be one of the best ways to 'break the ice' with both bot and bug patrols and reducing the likelihood that they could get off a reinforcement. Other viable strategies by comparison require the use of a well placed and timed orbital or eagle call-in or highly coordinated ambush tactics and such.
Since this is the first of its kind of live service games I kinda like earning the weapon to unlock but I ALSO really enjoy getting a new items that is bugged a little and lore wise it’s the the mark 1 the citizen made under pressure and only once being saved by hell divers they can fixed the weapon they rushed to deliver to the hell divers.

Should just give it a flat arming distance like any other launcher. Maybe have a function where it can be adjusted.
My issue with the airbursts is we didn't need another way to deal with hordes. The issue my team runs into is always with tanks, striders, bile titans and chargers. The Spear would be a great answer..... but it doesn't work. I've tried to get it to work in nearly 20 games. It's not reliable.
One problem with using airburst against the terminids is that the terminids get right up in your faceway more often then bots. Definitely not a situation you want to use the airburst in

me an some lads found out you can indeed blow up factories with the airburst you just need a direct hit into the vents. Haven't tested on Nidholes yet tho.
Maybe could add a feature to change the airburst detonation to an on trigger release option.

What it needs is an arming time *mid-air,* it shouldn't be ready to explode as soon as it leaves the barrel. Simple fix.
I dont know if it was just me being careful with it or what, but I've been using it on Hellmire and it works fine enough (some explosions dont do damage though). Its great at taking out everything that summons bug breaches and bot drops. Loving the weapon

They need to reduce the proximity by around 60% OR give it a delayed fuse for 1 or 2 seconds.
The best strength about this weapon vs bots, it destroys all the guys with the flare gun to call in drop ships

The spear is my current favourite. Almost immediate lock on..... I dispatched 2 charger and 1 bile titan in less than 4 minutes.... It was unbelievable.
I really like how it let's you hold a lock while you're reloading. You can put out a bunch of damage to a bunch of heavies in a short time, even solo reloading, if you can get a good vantage point to maintain lock.
That ending on the gameplay video... ooofff.
Any stratagem that can't take out armor isn't gonna see much use at all. I really like the airburst, but it needs to be decent against armor at least.
Again, because people don't understand supply lines we lose time . . . game devs can say whatever they want, but they need to add those to the map in some way.

I think I'd like the Airburst better if I could choose when to detonate it, rather than it going off via whatever the heck preprogrammed behaviour. Even if it's 'fixed' or 'not bugged', I think manual detonation would make it a lot better.

I love all the people who think "air burst" means anti-air, when it almost always means an air target is the last thing it should be fired at.
I actually was able to kill destroy a fabricator that had no enemies and obstructions in front of it. Otherwise, I found it incredibly difficult to use. I get more kills with an Erupter blast, and the next shot comes much faster, too.
Honestly, a support weapon like a rocket launcher that requires backpack reload is wasted as a weapon that is meant for swarm clearing. Just bring grenade launcher or flame thrower or one of the 3 MGs. Much more efficient and they don't take up the backpack slot. Any of those others + personal shield, supply pack or jump pack is far more efficient than backpack reloading rocket launcher.
Waiting for more aerial enemies and a dedicated MANPAD!
They should add missions with air only enemies where this can shine or missions with only heavy armor foes the mines

Yeah I knew it was bugged when I fired and it exploded 2 feet front of me. I was in a clearing.
End of the day there are already other weapons that do the same job (and more) as the airburst but better.
I would say the Airburst is best used to deny patrol reinforcements. Never apologise for being British, It's the Americans who are pronouncing the word wrong.
I really like the idea of pushing weapons out in their alpha state because, lore wise, it's "experimental"
just make it where you hold the trigger and it detonates when you release or it hits an object
I think the airburst needs a rework or slight design change, the cluster is not a bad idea but does need a rework. Too little damage happens where the burst happens and obviously the fuse trigger is trash at the moment. if they want it to be shoulder fired I think a shrapnel burst may work better. but to keep the airburst part maybe it could be top-attack like the Spear with a minimum engagement distance.
Are we ever going to get heavier armor with the scout perk?
