I put my hand on his shoulder and leaned down and smiled and I saw him look up at me and then imitate my smile. The photo came out with both of us with the exact same expressions on our faces. It was really sweet, and made up for his attempt to be an assh*le before.

    • That one struck me as the most interesting of them all, because clearly he does care what people think. Everybody does, regardless of how they rationalize it. It's part of our egos and narcissism, which we all have in varying degree. Especially for someone who was trying to look "shocking" at the time. Re-watching it again, I think the best answer Johnny Rotten could have given was, "Yes, I am." But I also understand the context and framing of the question put Mr Rotten on the defensive.

He died his hair because he had long hair growing up his father said he had to cut it so he cut his hair in the kitchen and died it green as he still wanted to be the one who had a say in how he looked. If you look at most of the pictures from the sex pistols John was wearing a fluffy sweater and skater jeans. He was chosen for the band because of how angry he sang and he had a t-shirt on from pink Floyd with in marker written above the bands name "I Hate". Sid was chosen because he was John's childhood friend, he was present at the gig and he had "the look". The night had some glitches, and their set was cut short by the bar owner shutting off the lights on them for apparently playing too late at night. I was kind of shocked, but Jesse and all the guys were still so humble and everything. He was genuinely nice and courteous and thanked me for coming as there were so few people in attendance. I will always admire his attitude and down to earth nature. He gave me some free merch and shook my hand. Humble as fuck.
