  • Don't forget to follow me on Twitter @dashcamlessons Note that this is a compilation made with the videos i uploaded on this channel in 2019. So if you've been with me since the beginning of the year, you probably know all of these. The watermark still says "Viral Car Videos" because i didn't re-edit them, so the video took only 4-5 hours to make, compared to the usually 10+ hours of work. Happy New Year and drive safe!

    • True, but some of these semi vids are screwed up. A lot these guys are speeding, and considering how heavy their car is, they're the assholes. That's from personal experience. Sometimes its the other way around. One thing for sure, the video where he doesn't let the the driver over is screwed up. Your car is 30 ft long, and sometimes you don't expect a merge, shit happens. If youre in a semi let the person over. What's your endgame, you kill someone? Also, you're on the clock so you'll be fired, potentially arrested or sued.

They told us that 75% of accidents in our state (Massachusetts) happen because people drive too close to the vehicle in front. While most of the brake checkers are idiots and cause the "accident" to occur, there are many instances where nothing would have happened if everyone maintained a safer distance between them and the car in front.

There was no decrease in distance between them, he just stopped creating more distance. Most people just coast to bleed off extra speed in that situation, but being dark if you aren't paying attention, it might appear it was a brake check. Cop pulled him over for speeding, not a brake check.

Also, there are many ways to get break checked. In some of these cases on this video I agree that people were tailgating, however in many others the drivers purposefully passed and positioned themselves close to the other vehicle and breake checked them right away out of malice so you cannot possibly tell me that it's impossible to get "break checked" if you follow the car in front of you at 1 car per 10mph because that is a stupid thing to say, a car can always come and get between you and that other car and break check you so please drop the sanctimonious act.

    • @@TheIT221 Theoretically, it's a good idea. Every once in a while during a long drive, tap the brakes to make sure they still work. If they don't, you now know before you needed to slow down or stop, which is the worst time to learn they've gone out. Practically, a well-maintained car can very easily go its entire life without a catastrophic brake failure. It's a bit more of a concern for tractor trailers since they constantly carry heavy loads, but even then it's an uncommon thing at worst. Of course, none of that matters in the slightest since nobody actually brake checks to check their brakes, they just treat the brake pedal as the horn for people behind them. I assume it stems from people stopping suddenly on foot to let someone walking behind them know they're too close without considering how the consequences of a collision differ between the two situations. And, of course, some people are just trying to scam your insurance company.

The truck in front of me saw this happen and did the craziest and most impressive brake check I’ve ever witnessed. • I just "googled" what the "rule" is in the U.S. and British Columbia and it reads different ways. ..."SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT", ..."Drivers must drive in the right lane except when passing another vehicle", "Slower traffic must keep right.", ..."Effective June 2015, motorists are required to keep right and let others pass.", ..."passing on the right is forbidden in British Columbia." So, it is very easy to determine that driving in the left lane is fundamentally "illegal" unless you are passing traffic in the right lane. If you are in the left lane and you are NOT passing traffic in the right lane ......THEN YOU ARE GOING TO BE PISSING ALL THE DRIVERS/TRAFFIC BEHIND YOU. If you aren't aware of all the traffic behind you, then you deserve ALL consequences from the drivers behind you ....and you really shouldn't be allowed to own a driver's license if you don't know any better or don't care ......because the question arises "how many other rules do you ignore when in traffic, .....because you don't care?" .

The person crossing the road) to ensure that they can make it safely across. Having lights on makes no difference... And going slow across the road in this case is actually worse, but that's all irrelevant. That would be like pulling out and stopping in front of someone who is going 60mph on a highway and saying "well, he was speeding, that's his fault for running into me". The person who enters the other driver's lane at any point is the one legally responsible for ensuring that he has clearance. This is directly out of the Drivers Safety Handbook. I agree with you that the driver was going fast and should have been more cautious, but legally this rests entirely on the dozer driver, as it should.

You are legally required to keep a safe braking distance from the vehicle in front of you, the only exception to this is if the person attempts to cause an accident as part of an insurance fraud scheme. Basically, unless the person in front of you is committing a crime, you are responsible if you rear-end them for any reason.
