I have no problems with BJP receiving funds from companies. It becomes problematic when they raid a company, harass them and then the company donate the money to BJP. Also since SBI is the only bank permitted for doing electoral bonds and since the chairman of SBI is controlled by the ruling government it becomes very easy for the ruling party to harass the companies who donate the opposition. Here it really hurts our democracy.
not to forget that those donations indirectly increase the voting power of certain individuals/companies because what most partys do with the money is donating it to people who voted for them in the election period

Who removed the cap 7.5%? Who started using ED, CBI to such an extent? What happened to the amount that went in the PM relief fund?
Cap was removed so that the companies do not give amounts over and above 7.5% in black money. ED, CBI, GST raids have been happening since quite sometime and even before 2017. You cannot co-relate 2 events just for the sake of proving a point that they raid only for extorting money.

There was not one mention of the fact that there exists a hidden unique sequencing system for each bond that can help track which party has redeemed which bond, and from which entity/company. This information is available to SBI and it can be requested by the central government. Thus giving the central government an advantage over other parties. They can for example, pressure companies to reduce or completely end any funding for parties other than funding for the central government's party.

You should have mentioned how only the Ruling party can know who donated money to which party as there is a secret unique number in every EB which can be tracked through the SBI database. Also it is very shady how the bill was passed as money bill and thus bypassed certain parliamentary scrutiny processes, in what was alleged to be a violation of Article 110 of the Indian constitution.

Electoral Bonds scheme being struck down doesn't mean that there cannot be another solution to fair and transparent funding. In the US, political campaigns need to dislcose all the details of the donors for donations above USD 200. The problem is political parties may not want fundings to be transparent. Discloure of political fundings only bolsters trust of people on the system.

If bonds violate the RTI , then how do they plan to track it now. How was it tracked before? Supreme court made a real supid decision by scraping it as illegal. If the bond had flaws they should have asked to fix the flaws. Like unlimited donations, or anything that it found objectionable.
8:00 You missed key detail here. Lets say person A bought bonds for 1 cr in SBI branch with kyc . Now person B can purchase those bonds from person A by cash. Person B hasnt done kyc so it could be black money. Now person B can just donate to whichever party he wants without fulfilling kyc. So the Electoral bonds money might be black money. Moreover in my view no listed corporate should donate to any political party. If they need something let them have discussion with govt. And why do these political parties need so much money?? No I dont want to see their faces in posters, no I wont their spam like in Whatsapp from Viksit Bharat , no I wont attend their rallies which most of the people are just there for money, anyway for most candidates they fund from their own money. If any political party wants fund from public, it should disclose all info like their expenses, future plans same as a listed company.

Local parties (read TMC) can create problem for corporates (like they did for tata)and extort bonds from them.

According to new data published by ECI , its getting revealed that DMK actually received 90% of its donations from Future Gaming and not BJP. As a bengali myself i can say even TMC received donations from Future gaming which was raided by ED.

Congress has 47 mp (8.65%) 28 Rajya Sabha members(11.42%) 676 mlas (16.74%) 55 Mlc (12.9%) govt(or part of) in states and UT is 5 (16%). The electoral bonds raised is 1421.90Cr about 11.1% of total. BJP has 290 MP (excluding vancant seats , 303 including) (53.4,55.8%) 94 Rajya Sabha mem (38.36) 1,484 mla (36.77%) 165+23 mlc (43%) number of states and UT 18 (58%). The electrol bonds raised worth 6060.50Cr which accounts for 47.34%. BRS has 6 mp (1.1%) 39 mla (0.95%) has raised 1214.70 about 9.48% of total electoral bond. The point is, theis electoral bonds has to looked at whether they are proportionate to size and reach of party.

Do you understand why TMC and Congress got those bonds in high numbers? It is because they have power in states, and to get favors in states they could have also asked the companies to donate them. @6:00 The problem is that Central Government knew that who was donating to who via the alphanumeric code, in fact SBI was regularly corresponding with the finance ministry, Also the companies were donating major chunks of their profits, even the ones which were in deficit, also employees were donating on behalf of companies. @11:00 ED/CBI scenario will never be more suspiciously correlated. It's absolutely possible. Also there is correlation with companies getting Government contracts after donation. Also electoral bonds made it possible for foreign players to influence Indian politics. All in all good decision by Supreme court

It is just a political argument that this has stopped cash. Now coming to your question. One of the interesting solutions that has been proposed is the establishment of a political fund. Wherein, anyone can donate to the fund and the ECI can then allocate it to the parties as per their seat distribution. This will virtually end any Quid Pro Quo. But I don't think any political party will accept this as there will not be any benefit for them on an individual basis.
Implementing a cap of 10% on profits allocated for donations, a transparency measure mandates the public disclosure of both purchasers and beneficiaries. However, purchaser-beneficiary correlations remain undisclosed, yet discernible through purchase dates, thereby facilitating transparency and accountability. Additionally, stringent checks and balances are instituted to regulate cash payments to parties, ensuring financial integrity and accountability within the system.

It's funny how other parties who take almost 90% or more of their donation through the bonds are calling it a scam. Also can someone specify it to me that the party receiving the bonds also don't know who the donation is from ? Or they know but the names aren't just available openly.

TMC 97% of their funds is from bonds, and congress 94% of their funds is through the electoral bonds. 47% of TOTAL electoral bonds purchased ( total for all the parties bjp, TMC, congress rjd DMK etc etc ) is donated to bjp. That is 6k Cr. This 6k Cr is 52% of BJP's personal total donations.
@@aishikadhikary7475 the majority of disclosed funding for non-bjp parties is from electoral bonds. It is actually thier primary method of legitimate fundraising. For example, TMC gets >90% of its funding from electoral bonds, whereas it is only 50% of the BJPs total funding. So stopping electoral bonds actually hurts the non-BJP parties fundraising much more than the BJP. BJP gets more direct donations, donations via electoral trusts and black money cash transfers than everyone else. Electoral bonds was actually helpful to opposition parties- so it is unusual why they are celebrating this (apart from trying to spin up a conspiracy about one-sided corruption for political mileage).
Issue is about quid pro quo and declaration of bonds by Party. Not who got how much.

Good thing about electoral bond ; It might reduce circulation of black money in political funding Bad thing: 1. Unlimited donation, there should be cap approx 1 to 3% of profits. 2. Every information regarding bond purchased and received by parties should be made available in public domain. 3. There should be limit on the political parties as well on the amount they can receive through bonds.

One correction: ED raids and EB donations are not isolated/independent. Eg: In the Alleged Delhi Liquor Policy case, the Aurobindo Pharma company head Mr. Reddy was arrested who claimed that they have no association with AAP, and after 5 days he gave BJP donation first of 5 crore and then after months in jail, when he changed his instance that he had connections with AAP, to which ED asked Court to drop all charges of Reddy, he gave another 40+ crore to BJP and he was also released from Jail and became approver for ED. Disclaimer: No fan of any party (including AAP) but wrong is wrong.

6000cr in cash can be black money, fake currency or legal currency. But 6000cr in SBI bank is always legal currency. Electoral Bond wanted to reduce black money this way.
