Tracy Butler has an extraordinary vocabulary
@Rhys Ranston normally i would get annoyed by people correcting spelling but this feels very appropriate here
@@katiefrances531 Is it spelling or grammar that is being corrected here?
@@titanuranus3095 grammar i guess
I know I have stop reading sometimes just to Google the meaning of some words.
@RhysRohanRanston can't blame you for correcting that
This comic gives me the vibe that Lackadaisy is indeed a light-hearted tragedy. We see the characters doing horrible crimes and hurting innocents but still love them for how well-written characters they are. We see them fighting for keeping the speakeasy alive but at the same time, it only brings them more misery. Lackadaisy is like a painful home for these people that have no other place to go. Even if the criminal life only hurts them more, they keep going, for it is all they have. This lifestyle has taken so much away from them and left broken families, broken bodies, broken dreams. The characters cling onto the remains of what is familiar for them, for they fear they cannot continue without it. Honestly, Tracy Butler, you're a genius.
No need to go all poet dang 😂
0:41 The duck skeleton always gets me. The rest of the comic is super serious talking about everyone's dark backstories and whatnot, and then there's Wick. Whose dark backstory is that he feels guilty for killing a duck. XD
I mean, he’s also a business owner who’s probably not going to like the 1930’s. Hence the ticking clock.
Hmm, good point 🤔
@@Toolgirl64209 It's Gravel it will be forever filled with money
@@m-2718 let's hope he doesn't come across a certain trio of Manns.
@@Twiddle_things They would have alreayd met they've been around since 1850s
The parts with Zib and Rocky always give me chills. They both are much deeper and darker characters than it seems at first glance.
I’m heartbroken that I only discovered this world a few days ago. But better late than never. This piece is beyond gorgeous and bone chilling.
We’re in the same boat. I had seen the Lackadaisy crew’s joint stream with Hunicast, but I gravely underestimated how quickly I’d be sucked in once the pilot went live. If the clever writing, voice over, art direction, worldbuilding, and absolutely gorgeous dixieland music didn’t hook me, this poem certainly did.
@@user-ou5ls2xc7v I had never heard of it before the pilot launched! I’m guessing the YT algorithm blessed me with the pilot suggestion, because I’m addicted to Helluva Boss… And I am SO glad they did! I never knew that I had a lackadaisy shaped hole in my heart until that day. 😆❤️
Got chills at ".....when you could swear you scarce exist but art or artifice insist the show goes on, in spite of this....."
1:03 he delivered that perfectly. also the way of how this entire poem was written is chef’s kiss.
Despite loving Lackadaisy already, this single piece stuns me today as it did last year when it was published. Incredible talent, unnerving wit.
It makes the watcher compelled to sit. As Tracy J Butler's imagination and evocations, become a Hallow's Eve's hit
Rocky is drinking from a sirup jug X´D Mordecai gets a coffe (or rather Tea?) and Ivy gets no alcohol, because she's too young. This is perfect.
Don’t forget Freckle’s chocolate milk…
This poem is what truly sold me to the backstories of these characters. I want to see it all develop.
Tracy mentioned that this was her dabbling in German Expressionism. For me, what established that feeling, believe it or not, is one of the smallest details: a streetlamp. In the second image, when you see Ivy (I'm guessing 'cause it looks like her) creeping through the alley, there's a streetlamp next to her. Its design is so distorted that it calls to mind the designs present in classic German Expressionist cinema like "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari." The movement was characterized by feeling over reality, so it distorted the designs of its architecture to create a sense that something was off in the world portrayed. As soon as I saw that streetlamp, it established the German Expressionism feel that Tracy obviously intended.
In the realm of Lackadaisy, Where felines roam and shadows sway, A tale of mystery and malaise, Unfolds in an eldritch way. The cats, they speak in whispers low, Of secrets dark and hidden deep, And in the shadows lurks a foe, Whose presence makes the bravest weep. The art, it flows like ink on page, A world brought to life in black and white, And in this world, a war doth rage, A battle fought with all their might. But in the end, who shall prevail, In this world of cats and schemes? Only time will tell the tale, Of Lackadaisy's hopes and dreams. So heed my words, dear reader mine, And enter this world with caution true, For in Lackadaisy's twisted design, The fates of all may rest on you.
♥️♥️
That’s awesome, did you make it up?
Beautiful
Cool poem
Hey that's pretty good
NICK, YOUR VOICE IS WAY TOO FITTING FOR THIS!!! Gotta love spooky month!!
IKR!! I know I'm super late to this but I agree
Thank you to the awesome Lackadaisy Crew, for giving me a chance to work with them as this Motion Comic Dub's Editor, i hope i can live to expectations ~! Thank you so much to everyone who showed up to the Premiere !
you did great work! chills!
It is currently spooky month my fellow brethren
ITS SKELETON TIME
BOO!
What religion does Halloween belong to?
Wick will always be haunted by his fowl act of murder.
Looking back at this after the release of the series teaser, the bit here with Rocky staring in through the window reminds me a lot of his younger self in the teaser pressing his face to the window, when he's "desolate and all alone"... There are probably other parallel scenes in the comic, with Rocky looking through windows, but that in itself makes me realize the symbolic value of this Rocky-window pairing, how he's always looking in but not on the inside. Like when he sees Mitzi and Wick in the Lackadaisy, and is scared that Wick is taking his place.
I think this might be how they all will die. Freckle - captured, maybe by rivals, dying in imprisonment Ivy - Arrested, dying in custody Mitzi - Suicide, perhaps of a broken heart Wick - Complications of old age Mordecai - Hard to tell, maybe poisoned Viktor - Captured and sewn into this horrible beast Zib - Giving a last performance, perhaps a heart attack from all of the illicit consumption Rocky - Drowning Despite their now deathly appearances, the old gang all meet together in the aged ruins of the Lackadaisy speakeasy for One. Last. Drink... EDIT: I now know this is completely not true because of the stream, so yeah. Still a pretty cool idea, and a sad one at that.
Yeah remember too I'm glad the lackacrew likes tacos but not from tacobell lol
I'd say Mitzi's, Mordecai's and Viktor's lines are more connected to their past and present. Mitzi is stuck in the past, unable to let go of it and stuck in the grief after losing her husband. Mordecai is haunted by the mystery surrounding his former boss' death. Viktor used to be a man with bright future but the criminal life has left him with a broken body. And Zib's and Freckle's part of the poem is more connected to their "emotional deaths". Guilt is slowly eating him from inside. Zib used to be a passionate musician but being forced to live the criminal and static life he never wanted has left him apathetic and emotionally dying. He is like a shadow, a ghost of what he used to be. But I'm worried about Rocky.
@@aino-kaisav5504 Nice! And yeah, I am worried about Rocky, too. I hope bud doesn't get the cement shoes.
Not true because of what stream?
@@minetieplays2092 In the signing stream pt2. Don't know the timestamp, but it's pretty late, somewhere round a couple hundred viewers
Kind of excited. This one was probably my favorite of the bonus comics and I’m glad to see it return
Same!
This looks good as an idea of a bad ending!, as if most of them died, being the shocking Rocky who died or rather was drowned while the only ones left alive is Mitzi, who must believe that she is one of the few survivors she suffers the loss of others while in mourning, but despite all the tragedies they are still together in our hearts.(by the way, Rocky's is my favorite xd)
Да нет lackrimosa показывает что на душе у представленных персонажей
Somehow Rocky's verse chills me the most (no pun intended)
AYYY NICK..definitely setting a reminder for this!
setting a reminder to lackadaisy content have always been rule 1
This is so beautiful. The poem alone sends a delightful shiver down my spine, but the sound design and narration bring it to a whole other level!
That Rocky is actually freaking terrifying.
I always thought it would have been more fitting to have each voice actor, voice their characters for this comic and then have them say the last stanza together, but this is good too!
Hey that would be neat!!!!
Chilling, how each word sends a feeling, or remorse as if it were killing. All is fit in this scrying, a tale told most wisely, but I can not stay, for Im not rhyming. Great work!
I can't get over this video. It's seriously become the anchor between lackadaisy and my heart. I don't understand why it connects so strongly with me, but it does.
This was one of the creepiest, saddest, but amazing poems that I’ve ever heard! ✨💕🥰
I get the feeling I will be excessively depressed once this series is over... and not because it's ending, but for its ending. Still... here's to a good ride! 🥂
the mix of nightmind and the beautiful, surreal art is too good.
I don't know half of these words, but my god that was eery.
This made me finally experience the ASMR brain tingles I've always heard about.
Coming from a poet: This shits a masterpiece no joke
I eerily wonder if this is hinting at what may happen to the characters when the series comes to a close
That makes some scary and sad sense. So, Freckle winds up dead and in Purgatory, Ivy goes to prison, Mitzy is left to forever mourn her husband, Wick is able to use his wealth and standing to escape but is left with guilt, Mordecai begins to mentally unravel, Viktor completely gives in to savagery, Zeb just withers and wastes away, and Rocky is fitted with a pair of concrete boots. Yikes.
@@SerialDesignationG3071 Now it may not be the case and could be for some Halloween mumbo jumbo but it’s just gives off a vibe of a chilling foreshadowing.

Finally the comic dubs are happening
When it went to Zibs part, the narrator sounded like his voice was breaking from the emotions💔
Reminds me of Edgar Allen Poe holy fuck this was well written. The word flow is wonderful and makes me want to tap my foot to it.
I just want to give Rocky a hug.
"Misery loves company"... but then hit the pandemic I miss bars, coffee shops, and other public indoor spaces.
Ur weak. I havent went out of home except school in 9 months
The more I see this, the more details I recognize, like the duck skeleton haunting Wick, and Rocky's syrup pitcher
This was wonderful, for the mood alone I’ll be rewatching this everyday for the rest of October+some of November (to really catch all of the spooky season), thank you 👏
It's always weird, but kinda cool when a video comes out and a voice comes up that you recognize from another channel.
I love how much this says about the characters and it has such good creepy vibes!
Time will tell, if this is one foregone conclusion where we'll end up mulling over for on the years to come.
This is the most emo 2009 thing I have see in a long time… it’s refreshing
Nick's voice was perfect for this. I'd love to see him do more narration stuff in the future. Also, the art is great!!
Misery loves company. Hello, company...... Love the sentiments. In particularly dark moments, they're so true.
Seeing Mitzi May here makes me feel real sorry for her. If my fictional character Aaron was there, I would have him give her a big but gentle hug. What would you do?
WAIT HOLD UP I JUST REALIZED MORDECAI'S VERSE TALKS ABOUT ATLAS (...not sure if that's a profound observation or something everyone else found obvious)
Nick + Lackadaisy + Spooky month is just absolute perfection. Imagine me making a chef's kiss motion BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT I'M DOING.
Hell yea this is epic and glad to hear Nick Nocturne hes a perfect narrator for this and the sound design is great the whole team did a great job!
I am in love with the poetry in Lackadaisy. You don’t see a lot go there but they did and they do it with such passion and thought into each word!❤❤❤
That voice! He could say Happy Birthday, & my neck will cringe & veer.
Damn that's good. Kipling would bow to you. Frost would be impressed. Bloody good.
I've had the last few lines written on my wall for the past year - helped me get through some rough times
Beautifully written poem and expertly executed! I much love this!
Good news! I’ve successfully memorized the whole thing
Uhhh nick nocturne As Narrator Niceeee
Absolutely fantastic, the writing is beautiful and nick is just a cherry on top. Amazing job!
I aspire to achieve this level of vocabulary *I couldn’t even understand a word!*
not much of a poem person but this sent chills down my spine
Shivers and goosebumps, Nick. Goddamn this is great work all around!
Bravo! If you could see me now, I stand in a wide ovation befixed with awe. Absolutely incredible!
seriously, props to the narrator!
Nick's voice is unmatched at sending chills down my spine.
God I need that as a scroll to hang on my wall and admire always
I love how Macabre the whole thing is.
The art is incredible! I loved every second of it, and Nick did an awesome job to💞🥺
This was so atmospheric and spooky!! Excellent work!!
Victor reminds of that bear monster from “Annihilation”…gosh
0.0 shit that thing was creepy AF…
AWWW YEEAH, I WAS RIGHT! I love this one, looking forward to it!
I couldn't help myself not to hear the song "Misery loves my company" from TGD when I saw those words in the video. I love it all, beatiful work^^
Absolutely lovely, reading it was already great delight, *now this comes into play*
Revisiting this wonderful medley of incredible diction this October, gives me chills like always.
A chilling cold vocalization of one of the comics. I love it.
It gave me the chills... Great job to everyone.
This is such an amazing poem and with the beautiful art style it's indescribable!!! 💯
YES I loved this piece, excellent performance of it!!
Morbid but a beautiful poem.
That duck man. Poor Wick
This is really good and i like how the poem fits in with the characters
Since I can’t scream excitedly physically, I’m screaming excitedly mentally
Nick!!!! And my favorite comic strip!!! Match in heaven right here!!!
This is one of my favorite videos
Chilling. Well done.
Dang...that....WAS SO SPICY I LOOOOOVVVEEEEE ITTTTTT GOSH THE POETRY!!! I wish there was a font louder than uppercase to express my feelings.
How about *Bold?*
*Would that work for you?*
BEAUTIFUL
Loved the poem and the reading is perfect.
Perfect for the season.
That's our man Nick Nocturne!! And they couldn't have picked a better man to narrate this!!!!
This should be a Creepypasta story telling about what happened to them.
Awesome kind wait for the animation to come out!
Well, I learned some new words today.
Definitely my favorite non-canon comic so far. Although I don't recognize the majority of the monsters or spirits each character is portraying. I'm guessing Rocky is supposed to be "It's a Wonderful Life"? Only because the Fairly OddParents' infamous parody of it had a title card that was similar. But the others I'm completely lost.
This is so good!!!!
Holy hell Tracy, I knew you could write, but DAMN you can WRITE!
amazement at it's finest 😻💗
Fantastic work, Nick seriously needs to be part of more lovecraft-esqe stuff!
Beautiful
Ooooooh, I always loved reading this one from the webtoon 😍
Delightfully spooky!
