  • Medvedev has arguably been the revelation of the season. He performed consistently and won his first slam beating Djokovic in the final. Additionally, he won a Masters 1000 title and the two national team events, the Davis and ATP Cups. He even won the Laver Cup for good measure. It will not surprise me if he reaches the No.1 ranking in 2022 and starts winning slams consistently. His personality on court is exactly the fillip that men's tennis needs at the top after the Fedal era; Medvedev is an enigma who is much like Nick Kyrgios in talent but with better work ethic who can be extremely pleasant and hateful in equal measure.

    @jacobkurian3632@jacobkurian36322 жыл бұрын
    • I like your comment and i agree with you, but kyrgios is more talented than medvedev, danil is way smarter and works way harder and the biggest difference is that he chose to commit himself to tennis, that's what he said in a number of interviews. Listened to a podcast when someone of his team mentioned in 2017 or 18 that he didn't think he will reach top 30.

    • Completely agree with everything you said BUT I think the BIGGEST revelation of 2021 has to be Aslan Karatsev. Nobody knew who he was a year ago and now he’s a GS semi finalist, 500 level champ and top 20 player! Incredible story

  • That last point against Zverev truly shows how his mind works on the court. In the middle of the baseline exchange he throws that weird slice to his opponent kinda 'hey, how are you gonna deal with that?":) It was an unpredictable move and it helped him to take the leading position in the point and eventually win it.

  • Several years ago I wrote that Medvedev was a limited player. Boy, how wrong I was. I also considered his style of play ugly. Now I find it very watchable and I root for him. If he improves on clay and grass he could be the next No. 1. If not, Zverev will be the next No. 1..

  • I just wonder every time - HOW CAN HE DO THAT? It's something magic in his sense of court. Something like that have Karatsev also - but only for lobs, I guess. Daniil (besides of that) can be good at every place on court. Amazing. Hope that in the next year he'll approves his ability to play on grass and clay - and become legend

  • I think Medvedev received less, than could trophies this year. In final of the Paris Masters, he could cannot lose..After all, he led 1-0 in sets against Djokovic, and then gave the game away..At the ATP Finals stage, his group was more difficult, and by the final he was tired..Sasha's victory is fair. Now that he's won the Davis Cup.I hope our tennis federation will not invite it in the next couple of years so that Daniil will focus on his performances..Need more Slams

    • I never thought about that. And Djokovic was very close to being two sets to one up in the USO 2013 final. His UFs unfortunately got the better of him and he lost that match. I think I remember watching that match live, but I was pretty young. I remember from my perspective that it looked like Djokovic was destroying Nadal, but I was very wrong 😅.

    • He won a title on grass this year. And on Wimbledon, he should have been at least in the quarterfinals if the match against Hurkacz was not postponed to the next day. Also, we saw the progress he made on clay this year as well. He made the quarterfinals at Roland Garros. So, I think he has everything to be a great player on every surface and I'm sure he will win a Slam on another surface but hard.
