    • *Here are some psychological tricks that I do when I spar in any gym or tournament.* 1) To break the aggression, you can nod, smile and compliment. 2) you can dance away and do a funky dance - reset. 3) you can crack jokes along with throwing girly strikes with loud sounds. *I always communicate jokingly and respectfully to defuse tension and aggression.* _I learned that the best fighters know how to change their opponent's energy._ You can also do this during real fights.

    • Same. I just started MMA and in sparring I always say can we go lighter, if it is too fast or hard and I can not learn new techniques and my training partners always slow down or even apologize for going too hard. Communication really is key. Most of the times they say I can go harder so they can practice their Defence with harder punches and so on but go light on me so I can do the same. If your MMA Gym is good you can always communicate not everyone wants to do hard sparring for some people it’s just a hobby where they don’t want to get concussion and that’s okay. And for me personally I learn much faster with lighter sparring.

  • The easiest way to not punch hard in sparring is to not make a fist in your glove. Leave your hands open, you'll naturally want to strike with speed instead of power, which is what happens when you have a tensed up clenched fist. Also, I always try and get on the same level with my sparring partners, I say light to the head hard to body. We all have to wake up and go to work in the morning, 99.9% of us training aren't doing this for a living. Be a respectful sparring partner and leave your ego at the door

    • that’s exactly what I do as well, I don’t want power to connect I just want speed, but a lot of people want to be gym warriors. even the pros I have sparred always kept it light because it’s literally their way of making money and they don’t want injuries. sparring light increases skill a lot more than hard sparring will.

      @kevd0g@kevd0g8 ай бұрын
    • I always leave my hand open in my glove. It's also a good thing to do to make sure you're retracting your punches. When I was new to kickboxing I used to punch through the guard and when they'd tense up and squeeze their hands together I'd end up leaving my glove there lol

  • I usually force the students to "define" the average or the maximum power of a round by hitting the chest and the leg once before it starts. You can easily measure if you go above that and prevent escalation like that. This way you can control the power of each round and slowly raise the force per round.

He posts these videos virtue signalling when he’s the one who welcomes this behaviour and even initiates it but puts these videos out telling his viewers never to be like these guys. Honestly, it’s absolutely hilarious at this point...but I seem to remember saying the same thing ages ago. 🤣😂🤷‍♂️ PS. A sneaky low kick is nothing to an experienced fighter. I’m old AF and basically made of dust...and even I can handle most low kicks at virtually any power with shinnies on - so it’s a *very* cheap excuse to escalate things imho...whereas a heavy overhand? Hmmm! 🤔 All I usually see is people getting shocked and frustrated by how damn good you are, especially since you’re often smaller than your opponents. That’s my 2 cents anyway fam! 🙏

      @paulpelle3046@paulpelle3046 Жыл бұрын
    • It's true that it's not Jeff's fault in most of the uploaded videos. But the dynamic is difficult. If you're a big guy like me you might be unaware of your force and people might movre aggressive just to cope with the power. Small guys on the other hand have to prove their force to compensate for the lack of reach and weight. Stuff tends to escalate when there's big inequality in size or weight. Beginners also have big big egos most of the time until they're humbled. I think a good coach has to manage those bodies and egos so people can learn and grow together. That's why I like conditioned sparring where the experienced guys have to run and dodge and block and the inexperienced ones have to be more aggressive. Or having big guys try to use only jabs and the small ones trying to get passed the jabs. Or both parties just playing around with techniques and combos without ever really pushing or hurting the partner. Stuff like that helps develop mutual help and solidarity instead of egos.

    • This is true man. When I'm sparing a bigger dude they only need to light kick me and it feels like a damn tree trunk hitting me 🤣 so I always play it very defensive. If I'm much smaller I use my speed and movement as an advantage.
