Nice moves
That's jeffe homes
Fuck that he should've said something before y'all started. I don't take that crap lightly. That's why I always state how much force is gonna be used before I spar, to keep those jerks in line.
Nick is cool very respectful
*Here are some psychological tricks that I do when I spar in any gym or tournament.* 1) To break the aggression, you can nod, smile and compliment. 2) you can dance away and do a funky dance - reset. 3) you can crack jokes along with throwing girly strikes with loud sounds. *I always communicate jokingly and respectfully to defuse tension and aggression.* _I learned that the best fighters know how to change their opponent's energy._ You can also do this during real fights.
Damn Jeff, you always run into someone who tries to fuck you up lol.
I think its the camera lmao
@@MMAShreddedeveryone wanna fuck you up, its like a goal to people 😂 Achievement
@@MMAShredded that’s a very good point 😅 Nobody wants to appear weak on camera. Man ego
@@Ytterdahls Also usually with people I meet/spar for the first time.
@@MMAShreddedprobably also coz some bigger guys want to test their strength against a pro fighter who s smaller than them. I know i did but not out of malice, just really wanted to see how far i was from a smaller pro fighter coz light spar didnt cut it for me
I let em give 3 shots and if they don't lighten up then it's on
oss
Only way to make sure you stay safe and go home in one piece 🙏🏻
That’s a great rule of thumb 👍🏻
I always throw the first shots very light and respond accordingly based on how they come at me
That happened today, but it didn't end well for his outta shape ass lmao
I’ve found that some of the larger stronger folk don’t really know how hard they’re hitting sometimes. Communication, even mid round, is usually helpful.
true!
I'm not a big guy, but if I was hitting a sparring partner harder than they were comfortable with and they were afraid to tell me I'd feel so bad.
@@connorperrett9559based
@@connorperrett9559 yeah
@@connorperrett9559 same here, I’ve had that happen and like the dude said communication is key, your partner should feel comfortable enough with you to tell mid way through or afterwards that some of your shots was to hard, I still felt like an asshole tho😂😂
Idk man, if it goes too hard i just stop for a second and say "can we lighten it up?" and 100% of the time it worked tho
true
I do it too, I just tell them to calm down it’s only sparring and if they continue I either just completely fight on the back foot and don’t get hit or on the very rare occasion I’ll just bite down on my gum shield and give it back, but I don’t want to go home with a headache and shit so majority of the time I just say calm down
Same. I just started MMA and in sparring I always say can we go lighter, if it is too fast or hard and I can not learn new techniques and my training partners always slow down or even apologize for going too hard. Communication really is key. Most of the times they say I can go harder so they can practice their Defence with harder punches and so on but go light on me so I can do the same. If your MMA Gym is good you can always communicate not everyone wants to do hard sparring for some people it’s just a hobby where they don’t want to get concussion and that’s okay. And for me personally I learn much faster with lighter sparring.
Same for me... That's what I do. In Thailand that's what Thai people do, if you spare hard, they don't spar with you...
if I do that my coach would kill me😂😂
Nah you man you started it 😂
hahaha
Luv this guy his narration so funny
Even the black dudes first punch wasn’t intended to have to much power but a good placed a well timed shot can feel like you are going 100% despite you going 50% especially when you have are taller and have that leverage behind. He wasn’t going hard just a good shot. While the guy narrating launched in and that kick really was something. Seems like they talked about it afterwards.
I thought the same thing lol but that kick at the end was Gnarly af 😂
“Guy throws a little too hard, but I didn’t want a war so the first thing I do is throw the same combo back at force with a hard low kick”
You actually started it. His overhand was soft
True, because overhand are naturally strong in nature but it can be done softly then he kicked really hard.
It was thrown with bad intention
Fr
You're...soft
Watch it again in not slow motion
Amazing how you can sweep someone whos way bigger than you dude, Nice stuff 👍
thank you!
Jeff is the one who always starts to hard sparr
It's like when a guy runs into you and then warns to watch where You're going when he was the one responsible for bumping into you.
Hahaaha
@@Dantes230 ok
You the one who started it Jeff!!! 🤣
i remember he apologized about a video years ago about this same thing. he put up a video stating how others started it, and then, the comments all blasted saying he started it. if not he would not apologize and think he is right. man is full of ego, juz cuz he gets to have a lifestyle revolving fighting.
i agree the first move the black guy did, didn't even fully touch him and it was not on purpouse and still light. But when jeff start punching and kicking back it was fully ON with bad intentions
So from the other guy pov, he did a medium hook that didn't land and jeff start to go full heavy on him after this

It is interesting how often you find yourself in this kind of situation.

I been watching Jeff Chan for years now but I think its more often him turning stuff up 🤣
That headkick was slick af. I know what I'm throwing next sparring session lol, appreciate ya Jeff!
:))) thanks
That high kick set up was beautiful
thanks!!
Just talk to them man. No need to go the Impulsive "I'm gonna throw that right back at you" route straight away.
True
It depends. Sometimes you know that they want and need the hard lesson. Some are just unaware of their force. A coach and fighter like Jeff has an eye for that.
@@mortalkomment8028 well I said not to do that straight away. If it keeps happening then sure but there are very few situations where it should be done right away. I will Grant though that jeff may have already attempted to talk to him in previous sessions and it may not have worked out.
@@MMAShredded lol sry but you were in the wrong. your sparring partner just landed a harder punch on your guard but you didnt pull your leg kick
Some people need to feel it to stop, otherwise they’ll take you for some sucker
The easiest way to not punch hard in sparring is to not make a fist in your glove. Leave your hands open, you'll naturally want to strike with speed instead of power, which is what happens when you have a tensed up clenched fist. Also, I always try and get on the same level with my sparring partners, I say light to the head hard to body. We all have to wake up and go to work in the morning, 99.9% of us training aren't doing this for a living. Be a respectful sparring partner and leave your ego at the door
I agree with every word you wrote, that's the spirit and thank you for the tip !
that’s exactly what I do as well, I don’t want power to connect I just want speed, but a lot of people want to be gym warriors. even the pros I have sparred always kept it light because it’s literally their way of making money and they don’t want injuries. sparring light increases skill a lot more than hard sparring will.
I always leave my hand open in my glove. It's also a good thing to do to make sure you're retracting your punches. When I was new to kickboxing I used to punch through the guard and when they'd tense up and squeeze their hands together I'd end up leaving my glove there lol
Sparringisnot about winning its about trying out technique
I usually force the students to "define" the average or the maximum power of a round by hitting the chest and the leg once before it starts. You can easily measure if you go above that and prevent escalation like that. This way you can control the power of each round and slowly raise the force per round.
true!
Opponent - this isn't even my final form Jeff - mine either Opponent - oh ....
LOL
wow, you both had your poker face on while the strikes were relentless. Tbh, when it comes to striking, you really cant avoid a few gym wars here and there. It's just the nature of the sport.
cheers!
You can by communicating. But if you’re down for it and have fun go for it.
We have a thing called being able to speak
@@friedrichs.8004 communication is the first part, then the hard part is sticking to it when someone else rocks you. Boils down to ego I think.
@@jackjack4412 yeah but ego should be left at the door in combat sports in my opinion.
You play with fire, you get burned, that headkick rocked him for a second!
At some point you gotta realise you're the common denominator for all these interactions
sometimes yes, but I would argue that I have my reasons and that I have wayyy more technical sparring videos to show
No he just posts them allot you gotta remember this guy spars hundreds of rounds a week, its bound to happen especially when going with bigger guys they tend to hit harder than they think.
Lol, so its his fault? He spars a lot, so ofc he gets in this situations a lot. Also, I'd imagine being a competent technical fighter would be a big cause for people to get desperate and forget to hold back.
Everyone has reasons, or "justifications", at the end of the day the results/actions show your inner beliefs. No need for confliction.
@@samgomez9942yes it’s his fault. The video is a perfect example. The guy winged the right overhand that didn’t even land and that was his justification for going hard. if you’re constantly finding yourself in the same situation with different people the problem is clearly you. He posts these videos virtue signalling when he’s the one who welcomes this behaviour and even initiates it but puts these videos out telling his viewers never to be like these guys. The same way he felt justified for going hard over a missed punch other guys could have felt like that in his other videos but he’ll never give that context
Man I’d love to spar with you. Your angles are really underrated! You also got some pop!!
thanks man!
That kick while moving your head off center was perfect

The only issue i have with hard sparring particularly when face punching is allowed is that is not healthy for your brain lmao, but sometimes it is necessary in order to get used to real full contact. And you are a pro fighter as i understand.

Bro I would've died If I got kicked liked that lmfao
Jeff is always composed relaxed and sharp
Jeff Chan is a gym warrior, and it shows
I feel like Jeff Chan’s escalated spars deserve their own KZhead category at this point 😆 *Edit* they’re almost always the other guy’s fault tbh...and almost always a bigger guy. Egos!
😂😂 I read the other comments below and they think it’s my fault. If more people think it’s me who started this one, I’ll take ownership
@@MMAShredded not your fault Kru Chan! Same as literally 95%+ of these I’ve seen. Honestly, it’s absolutely hilarious at this point...but I seem to remember saying the same thing ages ago. 🤣😂🤷♂️ PS. A sneaky low kick is nothing to an experienced fighter. I’m old AF and basically made of dust...and even I can handle most low kicks at virtually any power with shinnies on - so it’s a *very* cheap excuse to escalate things imho...whereas a heavy overhand? Hmmm! 🤔 All I usually see is people getting shocked and frustrated by how damn good you are, especially since you’re often smaller than your opponents. That’s my 2 cents anyway fam! 🙏
It's true that it's not Jeff's fault in most of the uploaded videos. But the dynamic is difficult. If you're a big guy like me you might be unaware of your force and people might movre aggressive just to cope with the power. Small guys on the other hand have to prove their force to compensate for the lack of reach and weight. Stuff tends to escalate when there's big inequality in size or weight. Beginners also have big big egos most of the time until they're humbled. I think a good coach has to manage those bodies and egos so people can learn and grow together. That's why I like conditioned sparring where the experienced guys have to run and dodge and block and the inexperienced ones have to be more aggressive. Or having big guys try to use only jabs and the small ones trying to get passed the jabs. Or both parties just playing around with techniques and combos without ever really pushing or hurting the partner. Stuff like that helps develop mutual help and solidarity instead of egos.
Nice when people grind it out and respect afterwards. The best friendships occur this way.
Ossss
Can't wait for the full video 👍

That guy is a BUSTER bro. You did great
He trew a weak punch and you trew back the same but much stronger imo here is your fault
Jeff you started that one can’t even lie
Only by pride cometh contention! That is the hardest part about fighting, keeping your own ego in check. Not allowing it to become personal. I definitely agree that the other guy got emotionally bruised. Great work!
dude, you really do have the best MMa channel out there, thanks again for all this content

I think it was your kick that was the signal lol

That low kick technique is nice the power comes from the hips turning and bring alot of force to the inside leg
This dude is so fluid with his movements

From this clip its 100% you that is the instigator
haha i dont wanted to be rude because i love jeff but yes i also think he started… that right hook was hard but felt like it was controlled ….

Those leg kicks look especially vicious when you slow them down to where we can actually see the mechanics. Nice!
When you spar, you prepare to go full contact. It is discipline to keep it at a sparring session. Don't take it personal when someone loses it and don't give into the fear of getting hit.

The hard thing is being bigger and sparring someone smaller. You're not trying to hit hard but they'll go hard and that makes you go hard
This is true man. When I'm sparing a bigger dude they only need to light kick me and it feels like a damn tree trunk hitting me 🤣 so I always play it very defensive. If I'm much smaller I use my speed and movement as an advantage.
It’s true
