This shows you how skilled Demetrious Johnson is from all angles of MMA. Rodtang is certainly NOT an easy door to walk through. I’ll always love this fight. Great performance from both fighters. Congrats to Mighty Mouse.
It doesn't though. Rodtang is a Muay THAI fighter, which has 0 play on the ground. What this shows is how MMA fighters will most likely win against against any body from other martial arts, since it is more complete. I don't like MMA cause It shows no technicality, a bunch of jack of all trades fighters that are average in everything but not exceptional at anything, which is great in real world but its not for me as a sport but still they will most likely win against legends that only practice stand up martial arts.

Rodtang - Muay Thai, Johnson - MMA, so for Mighty Mouse to get the win when the rules changed in round 2 just shows you how good his MMA skills are.

@@acadian101 Well, Rodtang never train MMA or grappling a day in his life, I find him super brave to even accept an MMA round. DJ, on the other hand, is not a Thai striker but he is a very well experienced stand-up fighter.

A true warrior steps out of his comfort zone. Rodtang had an excellent showing for being out of his element. Johnson's stand up performance was world class.
Not really, to be honest, as soon as the grappling was around, he ran away, got his back, taken, got brought to the ground and got choked out. That's not good at all.

This is one of the coolest fights I’ve come across in combat sports. Both DJ and Rodtang showed both humility and confidence in their discipline in accepting this mixed rules fight. Hats off to both men. As usual, the effectiveness of the grappling arts (wrestling and BJJ) on full display here.
Mighty Mouse will go down in history as one of the top 3 best mixed martial artists in history, win or lose next week, it’s been a hell of a ride. 🐭❤

This has to be 1 of the best MMA matches that I have ever seen. How many men claim to be warriors but never face their opponent face to face and exchange punches. These 2 men have my respect.
I love the rule sets in One Championship. Makes it so exciting.
But this fight was strange and no logic. Thai vs karate ok, thai vs jitsu ok. But mma by default mixed and every fighter use what he want. So which sense of this fight? It is show, because you can put rodtang in mma fight and didnt see nothing different from him. Was interesting see classic wrestler vs jitsu, but nothing new, every won in their discipline

Shows how good wrestling and grappling can be. Even a monster like Rodtang that eats damage like no other can get put in a position where you can get dominated. Props to him for going at it till he went to sleep. DJ is just too good.

@@user-ltrsnqi yea, usually eye gouges, ears bitten off, ground and pound til stoppage...it would appear most of the participants aren't "trained" in mma or even wrestling techniques, most are hooligan street brawlers off the rip. Theres plenty of examples of street fights caught on camera however that do quite often end with people going to sleep or being subdued until interference.

Both fighters I have nothing but respect for. They are absolute legends. 💯 percent incredible. One of the best fights of all time.
Just goes to show that a fighter has to be very well rounded in MMA. Rodtang is an amazing striker and DJ's takedowns are so fast I think you have to slow the replay down to see everything that happens when these two great martial artist fight.
Lots of fighters can take massive strikes, but NO ONE can "wear" a deep choke or a limb on the verge of breaking.

Whit all my respect to Rodtang, he’s getting to much credit for being chocked out. To me that fight is perfect example of wrestling dominance. Rodtang was all badass in a first, pressuring and taking punches but as soon as second round started I felt that awareness, the understatement of one wrong move and it’s over and that’s exactly what happened and all that in age DJ is, just freaking insane.
Pretty normal since MMA is not his sport. Of course he accepted the fight so no excuse, but he s not an MMA fighter, it was pretty obvious it was going to happen. The result would be obvious too if you put DJ vs roadtang in a muay thaï fight, because dj is a MMA fighter, not a muay thaï fighter.

only wresting dominance if you can withstand and or dodge the hands of the stand up guy. many many wrestlers get knocked out because the fight starts our on the feet and with little take down deffence they can get completely annihlated. howver in this case mighty mouse is an all around fighter and is exceptional in both areas. hes literally one of the best all around fighters ever. if you dont have an all around game you will lose and thats the reality of it.

He defended the takedown and the choke better than any Muay Thai fighter has any business doing. Dudes an animal, and he deserves every bit of credit for this performance, including on the ground.
DJ held his own in the striking department but whrn it came to grappling the skill level is light years apart.
Keep coming back to this fight, really one of the best fights ever. Hats off to both for taking this fight, but especially DJ that demonstrated that he is willing to strike with the best without running (which was the "smart" thing to do).
This is why I love watching flyweight, featherweight and lightweight fights, the smaller dudes are so much more invigorating to watch.

I don't think many others would have the same success vs a bred-for-battle 8-limbed combat-robot like Rodtang is lol. As for the gear, I think it's likely they all take something at least for recovery, just how it goes these days with the level of the sport.

DJ is one of the greatest fighters of all time from all the fighters iv ever witnessed, bro is so clean and solid with it, just pure focus! His striking is God like flow state and grappling is solid. The fact their striking/stand up cancelled each other out but DJ still had the skill and know how to choke him out. Rodtang a super warrior for for refusing to tap out, went out on his shield....What an epic fight you couldnt script this!
