  • New studies show fish remember faces for at least 5 years, show affection, and can learn tricks - there is a guy out there who taught his goldfish foosball from a custom tank he made. They all have sentience, and we should be doing better by them.

He buys and applies the meds and visits and talks to the fish. His color comes back and the fish is so excited to see the guy who seeks to make this sole fish happy. Too bad we dont even treat each other this way. So many lessons to learn from this!

But that's pretty cool I had four goldfish that I transferred from a medium sized bowl into a full-sized aquarium and where I had them located they could see the tv. And when the old old old old episodes of Roseanne came on, they would all line up at the corner of the aquarium and they would watch a full episode of Roseanne for a half hour. They wouldn't do it for any other show I don't know why that maybe it was colorful. But that was those goldfish and they were named Ricky Lucy Fred and Ethel😂😂❤❤🐠🐠

He used to surf in the filter stream on the water surface, swim through tiny rings and follow me when I was near the tank. very sadly he always wanted to get out of that tank and found the little air gap in the cover glass where he jumped out. I had to rescue him several times from the floor until one day he was out too long. I loved this fish :(

My sibling owned one that would very specifically greet them by swimming to the surface to be brushed by their fingers in the water. There's more upstairs in these creatures than we credit them and far more than enough reason for shops to stop selling them in horribly-tiny little bags of water.

Eventually the fish thought that was his name and responded to it. It was too long of a name so we shortened it to Aydy and he took to that as his name too. Ironically he lived to be the longest living beta she had at 2.5 years old with an interest in rabbit themed things and was able to do spin arounds for food

  • Instead, there is a simpler way: knock on the tank when you feed the fish, as many times as you like. If you repeat this action, the fish will gradually become accustomed to humans through their learning ability. I don't know if the person is studying a different field of ichthyology, but it is easiest to explain things in a way that is easy for anyone to understand. Scholars often talk at length, but it is difficult to get the main points across. It is easier for the general public to understand if you explain things succinctly. ※ Just because you learn academic knowledge doesn't mean that animals will listen to you or understand you. When dealing with living creatures, there are no textbooks and experience is the most important thing. Goldfish are a species that has been artificially bred through selective breeding, so they are a fish that are easily accustomed to humans.😊 By the way, the area where I live is one of the three major goldfish producing areas in Japan, and is a historic town that is officially recognized as a town.🤫

  • Great video, but having read the incredible, bestselling book "What a Fish Knows", by the biologist Jonathan Balcombe, which goes through all the scientific evidence about the intellectual and emotional complexity of fish, seeing them behaving in this way didn't surprise me in the least!
